Thing about the plexi. For a varied set it just seems to fit all the rock parts, gritty enough to be dirty and glassy enough to be clear and defined. Because it's so dynamic just very easy to fit into the general picture and you don't really need a huge amount of gain to get the sound and impression of a huge amount of gain. That's maybe the coolest bit.
Disclaimer: the Purple Plexi is INCREDIBLY LOUD. Lol like it's unbelievably loud, it's crazy. Kicks butt though
Yeah I just got one and I can’t put it past 9. Crazy.
the pedal has no actual volume.
I know this is an old video, but very helpful for comparing these two. The Purple Plexi sounds good, but seems like its a heavier distortion like pedal than the Jubilee which sounds more like an earlier Marshall tone to me. Jubilee had more note clarity, I think the difference in the volume pot and amount of gain on tap makes a huge difference. The Purple sounds more like the BE-OD to me. Either seems like they would work well with different players and musical tastes.
I don't know why people insist on using the Purple Plexi with a Marshall--the purpose of the thing (as I understand it) is to emulate a Marshall, so why fucking use it with a Marshall? It's not a Klon, it's not a Tube Screamer--it's a Marshall emulator.
The plexi police are coming for you. Better look out.
The Jubilee all the way!
The Plexi is just too fuzzy and noisy!
The Jubilee is way more articulate!
The jubilee sounds more like a combo, a bit more choked or squashed, the fizz is less controlled and not as much glass. Plexi sounds like a dimed stack
I totally agree!
Jubilee sounds a little bit better for me, articulate nd with more expression, and yes, PP is very loud
Rivas Pavlawski pp is very loud but the tone is at 12.oo
Very informative video. Well done.
The thing with the purple plexi is to have the gain lower around 3 o clock and its the loudest pedal I've ever had..but this make me also want a jubilee
the purple plexi has alot more bite for metal or aggressive playing. the jubilee pedal has alot more clarity and brightness for clean channel or blues players. My choice is the purple one.
Jubilee Is smoother with less bass and gain it seems - very similar sounding circuits almost identical - but the purple is wilder and bassier less tight
Purple plexi all day long
Both clean up the same when the guitar volume is rolled?
I like a bit more the less compressed sound of the Jubilee.
Is there any reason you put the volume knob in different positions between the two pedals? Is the Purple Plexi louder?
I believe I have an issue with my Jubilee, the volume knob doesn't change anything above halfway, is your's doing the same?
The Purple Plexi's volume taper is completely different than the Jubilee's so you have to adjust accordingly. It is MUCH louder than the Jubilee. The Purple Plexi is actually louder than a majority of any pedal I've played.
Have you tried adjusting the volume on your amp? It sounds like in your current settings you are reaching the max headroom of your amp at halfway through the volume pot of the Jubilee. Once you've reached the max headroom of your amp, adding volume from any source is just going to result in more gain and no change in volume.
I’m lucky enough to have both.....
The result is ?
Jubilee is right for me.
I meant 9 o clock..jeez I cant even tell time lol
Jubilee all day long. Sounds more amp like.
