Never get tired of hearing Hawthorne. No matter what year they performed they always kept you on the edge of your seat and always always making people get interested in drum corps. Like I said before the grand daddy of all the Drum Corps activity. thank you for posting this l965 edition of the fabulous hawthorne. keep Hawthorne coming.

Lots of soprano articulation in this book. The conga perc was great. Nice clean performance , and not typical forced , I enjoyed every moment . Bravo !

My all-time favorite senior corps, ever since I first saw them perform in Jersey City, Roosevelt Stadium, the Preview of Champions show, June 1962. My jaw dropped.

Yup ! - First saw them when I was 6 yrs old in 1955 at Allentown ASD Stadium. . . . . and have been a CABS fan and drum corps follower ever since. These were 'the good old days' . . . . haven't seen anything like these kind of powerful shows in decades now though.

@@tjbiker49 I agree with you 100%. Even though, I competed, against them when I was in a Long Island Sunrisers in 1964 through 1968, I always had great respect for the Caballeros. I almost joined a friend of mine from Loretto nights, bumped into me downtown Brooklyn and he joined the Caballeros he was one of their solo soprano players, as he was with the Loretto Knight. Just about one week later I bumped into Steve bunglino, he was a member of the Golden Eagles as I was. And he was asking me to join the Long Island Sunrisers, and he mentions seven or eight names that were former member of the golden eagles. I thought about it for approximately one week and then I decided I am going to join the Long Island sunrises. I joined in 1964 near the end of the season, and continued through 1968. Caballero's definitely my favorite senior Drum Corps, right after the Sun rises. Today January 21st 2022. Caballeros still on top that's where they belong. The absolute best senior drum and bugle Corps in our history.

Mission drums, in 1965, both the Hawthorne Caballeros, in the Long Island sunrises, took the house down, I was a member of the sunrise, what I remember and what the Drum Corps World newspaper said, we had the most , cheers and the most standing ovations that night. I believe it was the following year that we won Mission drums, great memories. Former number of the Long Island sunrises, 1964 through 1968.

Been to many a show and it’s tough to remember when or if the Cabs didn’t bring it.

@@petegregory517the Caballeros were always one of my favorite from a bugle course for the 1965 we had more standing ovations than they did, they beat us, we start beating them, in 1967 mainly in brass and drumming, they usually beat us in general affect and Marching In maneuvering back in those days, many drum and bugle Corps would have Standing Ovation after Standing Ovation example, Optimus from Canada, the matadors call me even though they didn't win any major events they still had more audience response with standing ovations than most of the competing, drum c o r p s I had many good friends in the Caballeros for a long time, I competed against many of my friends when we were in junior c o r p s. When we aged out someone to the Caballeros someone to the Sun rises, but we always remain friends❤❤❤🎉🎉

@@americanspirit8932 I watch old Cab video's over and over. Those Uni's, cannot be matched (along with the old swagger) though some of the now (I presume defunct) of other corps were quite appealing.
I got a taste of the new cabs for about 5 minutes worth....ahhhh...NO, and no thanks!
I'd not walk across the street to see these new 🧚‍♂️ corps, in fact, wouldn't let someone cart me across the street.
Edit: you were in 64-68 I definitely watched your corp.

@@petegregory517thank you for that compliment. Were you in a drum and bugle Corps? If so who were you in, in what years did you compete?❤

Great repertoire. Powerful horns. Sexy percussion (5;33 to 7;09). Love to hear present corps do this show.

The CABS of the 60's seem to have a 'FIRE', 'EXCITEMENT' and 'ENERGY' to their performances I haven't seen in the CABS since. What's happened? I'm still a Cabs fan but the dynamics just don't seem to be there.

You are absolutely correct. In my opinion DCI is the reason for the demise of the activity, and DCA decided to follow suit. We no longer have real drum and bugle Corps. We now have marching bands, no offense against marching band they're great but just not for me.
