This song was my introduction to the Avett Brothers. My son chose this for our Mother/Son dance at his wedding. I went home and listened to all of their music. Since, I have seen them in concert twice and attended the showing of their movie. "Always remember there is nothing worth sharing like the love that let us share a name."
My brother was murdered in the city on MLK Day 2021. I was a little lit - as he most surely was-- when I heard this and could near as hear him singing it on the wind. What a love song, thank you. 🙏 ❤️ ✨
@@ralphfoulkes9384 Maybe version was the wrong word to use. I just meant that between the original video and the numerous live videos of this song this live track happens to be my favorite.
You get me every time I hear this song Scott Avett. I love the tiny powerful ways that last verse has changed over the years. Now that I'm a parent, I feel the progression of "the love that lets us share our name".
Such an intimate version of this already incredibly written song. I love how he changed the lyrics to progress with his life. He's the father now (2:30). I've had mad love for the Avett Brothers and their songwriting talents for years. Hope to see them again live VERY SOON!
What a treat to have found you guys!! How I got here...... I was watching a UA-cam video on James Prigioni's gardening channel and he played a bit of your tune Bella Donna, which I thought was very listenable. So, I 'Shazammed' the musical clip, but got no result -- so I did a Google search on the lyrics and found the song and y'all! Please set a concert date in Southern California!
Just learning about the Avett Bros. Thought I'd watched every Live From Here (RIP 😢) but I must have missed this one. Every "new" song I hear by them seems amazing.
This is my brother's suiside letter. He played it on his guitar intensively. He would ask me if I recognized the song, but i couldn'tbecause he played it too beautifully. Letters in his belongings where "watching the wheels go round and round and head full of doubt.
@@kyleerickson6445 Great people put on great shows. The first time I saw them was at New Orleans Jazzfest several years ago. After their set, they went to the record tent and signed cd's and met with fans. You wouldn't think that superstar songwriters would be so down to earth, friendly and unassuming. Love all their music, but this is my favorite song by them.
Bella canción, a través de ella ves pasar algunos días, algunos tiempos, tiempos que quedaron atrás, tiempos que se han convertido en sueños cortos,, he llegado a pensar que algunos tiempos no se han ido, creo que me han abandonado
Just kidding, and yes Yo Yo was on the show recently. Call me the fairly stoned companion AND I did not think this was possible yet after 40 years of loyal listening I am happy to say I now enjoy the PHC more, sorry Gary.
Love the guy's reaction in the crowd when he realizes the song is MITC. Such honest reaction to an honestly great song!!!
The dude that yells “yes” in the beginning isn’t me, but it easily could’ve been.
The dude that commented this isn't me, but easily could've been.
Dont be this guy 🤣
😂
@@PNWbluegrasshole no. Absolutely be that guy. There’s never been a musician who doesn’t like to be appreciated.
Much agreed, dude.

Amen
Wasn’t the movie “May it last”?
Beautiful story. Thanks for sharing.

I am just totally mesmerized by this song, been listening to it all day. Excellence!
I believe this was the very first song I heard from the Avett's seven long years ago. I'm glad we found each other.
Here again in 2024. Just saw them 3 weeks ago in St. Paul with Trampled by Turtles. Wonderful show.
I think this is my most favorite version of this song, just beautiful!!
Is there any other version I was not aware of that

@bustacap8923 thank you
I love both the Avett Brothers and Chris Thile, but what I really love about watching Chris play is the utter joy he projects when he's playing.

I didn’t read the description, and then I saw Chris Thile. Holly moly.
Maybe one day I won’t get misty when I listen to this song. It wasn’t today and I hope it’s never. Thanks Avetts
This was me brother favorite song before he died.
This was the first song I ever heard from the brothers then I saw them on HBO
I’ll see you at home kid !

Well my goodness!!! I listened to this song with Brandi Carlile the first time I’ve ever heard it. BUT YOU!!!! On your own is amazing!!!!!!!!

Please, more mandalin in songs!! Love it!!
So very pleased that this happened. I love it when my heros join each other on stage.
This is very emotional ❤

Who disliked this? Who are these people?🤦♂️😂 absolutely love it, maybe even better than the original!
I so badly want to see these guys live. They're the truth man!
Kyler Coleman they are amazing live!!!
Just saw them live on Saturday. I have been to 200+ concerts in my life, and they are easily in the top five. Fantastic live performers.

Simply a great song
Such a beautiful song.
awesome song, and love the post
Wow. And Chris has still got it. Love it.
Great song! Love to you all. I can’t wait to see you for the 15th time!
Beautiful.
I would give anything to see them. I'm in Missouri & I even looked at tickets in Kentucky, but there was barely anything left :(
Just got this in the last episode of outerbanks
"I wonder which brother is better" Avett or Punch? Bad joke, but I love this version. More mandolin please!
Solid Gold.
I fucking love these guys.
Bella canción, a través de ella ves pasar algunos días, algunos tiempos, tiempos que quedaron atrás, tiempos que se han convertido en sueños cortos,, he llegado a pensar que algunos tiempos no se han ido, creo que me han abandonado
Who else is here after Outer Banks?
I am 100% positive the angels play mandolin in Heaven :)
chris thile man take a bow
@ 1:25 That smile cracks me up!
Without me this would only have 37,236 views.... 😁
I think the avett bros should incorporate mandolin into more of their songs *wink wink*
yeah but hey...isn't that Yo Yo Ma standing behind him? ALL hail Loyd Loar, if ony 100 years too late!
Pretty sure you're talking about Joe Kwon, he's part of the band.
Just kidding, and yes Yo Yo was on the show recently. Call me the fairly stoned companion AND I did not think this was possible yet after 40 years of loyal listening I am happy to say I now enjoy the PHC more, sorry Gary.
OK you win.
May it last
AND THERES CHRIS THILE?!?!?
does anyone know the type of guitar Scott is playing here?
I think its a Martin
What do the lines about Elvis mean?
Thinking about Elvis, how he made Mama cry? Elvis find Jesus?
Outer banks brought me here
Black Thought approves 😂
I love this and the Avett brothers, but Scott's guitar is ever so slightly out of tune and it really others me
Just the best!
