- In this video I make 1 of 2 Mother's Day gifts using maple burl, Hampshire Sheen color and Alumilite UV resin. This was a quick and easy project using a burl offcut. These are fun little projects to sell or gift and are appreciated by the recipient. I hope you enjoy the video, thank you to all who watch!

Thank you Ron, I appreciate it!
Love the sheen from the epoxy finish and the purple offers a rich tone to that awesome burl you had chosen. All in all, a great looking bracelet. 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you Jose! I appreciate it!
Oh yes, it really turned out beautiful.
Thank you Jack! I appreciate you watching
Just a really charming bracelet with great beauty thanks to the burl. This was enhanced superbly with the purple colouring. A beautiful gift. Don from South Aust.
Thank you Don, I appreciate it buddy!
I really like this one! The final piece is reminiscent of the old tortoise shell bracelets. Very cool.
Cheers, Rick
I thought the same thing Rick and that was the look I was hoping for! I appreciate you watching!

Tom here; what a great demo, as always. Hadn't heard of the UV cure resin; I'll be checking
that out. Probably some gifts for nieces!!!!
Thanks Tom, I like the resin finish but I need to get a light to cure it indoors!
Love how that turned out Lewis, thanks for sharing.
Thank you Gary!
Beautiful Lewis! Lucky lady to receive that bracelet!
Thanks Heather, she liked it.
This is one beautiful bracelet. I don’t believe I’ve seen anyone use the UV resin as a finish. Makes sense though. Well done. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Doug! I just need a UV light to cure it inside!

Wes @ Piedra Designs
Thanks Wesley, mine loved it!
great
Thank you!
Like the bracelet, but selfishly looking forward to the pendant since I have some small cherry burl cut offs that would make a great pendant/earrings.
Thanks! I need to get a string
For the pendant! I appreciate you watching!
me too!
This is nice. Very interesting grain. Love the look of burls and the grain that come with them...
Thank you Maria, it is hard to beat burl wood.
Niiice! When you were painting on the UV resin, the colour of the dye was not very clear: It all looked dark. However, in your end shots, we can see the grain, with the colour, and it is really pretty! Nice bracelet! I'd be pleased to receive such, myself!
I know it is hard to see even in the good lighting in the shop! Thank you for watching Stephanie!
I love watching you turn. I learn so much from your technique. I would like to try the hot glue some time but I am nervous about it staying put. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you Duane! Get a decent quality glue sticks and gun. It isn’t fool proof but the fail rate is extremely low. Thanks for watching
That is striking, Lewis! I appreciate the explanations when you were working on different ends and how you established the dove tail to finish it. I tried one bracelet but was over zealous with the chuck and snapped it. Decided that was a trial to put on the back burner. I am due for some Yorkshire grit. I think I might try some intrinsic dye. Had a really nice platter on the go today, air brushed a gradient that I was quite proud of. Went to add a black accent ring with the lathe spinning and it streaked across the whole thing. I brushed it out to try to blend it but tomorrow morning we will see what the dried product looks like. Might be looking for something that dries faster with an alcohol base instead of water.
Thank you Jay! Yes colouring moving pieces can be frustrating based on what I have seen. I hope it works out. Thanks for watching!
Brilliant Lewis. I have always wanted to make bracelets but didn't know where to start, middle and end.
Now I do thanks to you.
One question what is the internal diameter of the bracelet?
When I was at Makers Central a week or so ago I bought 4 pen blanks made by Rob so keep an eye out for a video of me using one of them.
Another one of you videos I'm keeping Lewis.
Take care my friend.
Cheers, Huw
Thanks Huw! It is 2-1/4”opening. I’ll be watching for your video, I’m behind on my viewing! Thanks for watching!
I learn a great deal from your videos. Thank you! The third small gouge on the outside, used as a scrapper? Burl technique?
Thanks Kenny, the second and third were actually the same 1/2” spindle gouge. Just shear cutting for shape and finish. Some people get cranky about cutting uphill but for this piece it worked great. Thanks for watching!
Hello again, I was wondering if you could list all the different sizes of Skews you have and the different sizes and types of scrapers. I’ve been slowly buying tools but this past week decided to start making some of my own skews and scrapers and other simple square flat and round stock tools. They’re turning out very nice keeping their edge as well as the Robert sorbys that I’ve been using. The problem is that I have not used many scrapers or skews. I bought 1/2 inch Robert Sorby after watching a half a dozen at least of your videos and love using it. But now I would like to make a nice set of both skews and scrapers. If you don’t have time for this I understand but I thought it wouldn’t hurt to ask.
Hey Duane! I’m going to do a mid week video soon of some viewers questions. Keep an eye open, I’ll show what I use. Thanks for watching!
@@TheKlondikeCraftsman Thank you, that is very kind. I will be watching. Take care.
I am curious, what was the inside dimensions. Looks very cool great gift idea. Ernie smith from brisbane Australia
Thanks Ernie, the opening at each side is 2-1/4”. Thank you for watching!
Nice work but it's a bangle, not a bracelet!
I think you are correct Bill. Thanks for watching!
No piece of wood is trash. Awesome piece.
Almost no piece is, I agree!
