Means i don't cut glass i eat glass, seen him cutting any thickness....any shape like child plays with scissors cut paper.....great born talent
One of the things novices do when cutting glass is using too much pressure with the cutting tool. You know when you have done it right by the sound. It should be a light hiss and the score is a fine line , almost hard to see. Too much pressure and the sound is crunchy with score looking like a deep scratch. The deep scratch are tiny fractures running radially from the line and at best will result in a rough cut and at the worst not cutting at all or running everywhere but where you wanted the cut. Also make sure you have cleaned the glass first and the cutter is not nicked and/or dirty. My humble experience.
jugaad technology: Thank you for this video. I see now that it is important to develop a "feel" for how hard to tap. This technique allows people to cut glass with simple tools and a little patience and perseverance. Thanks again for sharing your high level ninja glass cutting knowledge. 😊
Thank you, I was able to cut to size a thick mirror following your technique using the hammer. A bit unerbing but it worked!! Great simple way of cutting very thick glass with simple tools, down to earth. I really like that, just using your hands, even wearing sandals 😊 Some people get over killed with so much gear and tools. From all the videos I watched, this was the most helpful. Thsnk you
1. use more big table to cut 2.after the first hit by hammer you use that pen under the cuting line 3.push down the glass ......then the cuting line more smooth than this
Been cutting glass for 42 years now and thicknesses up to 19mm by hand and only time I used a tapper was to start the scores of 10 and 12mm circles. Never on straight lines.
When I was kid we used to to the same, but we made sure both ends were tapped fist, then we used to tap o the middle. That way we would guarantee the cut would be uniform end to end.
Just Use a brush to apply the oil on the glass before you cut it with the glass cutter and then place the sodden back part of the brush under the glass on the end of the cut and snap it pushing down.
@@johnbernardvillamarin452yes I cut really big sheets of thick glass (3/8”) like that at my shop! There are a few ways that work nicely and this is just one of them!
That would be risky when tapping a large piece which would fall because of its weight. A support would be needed on both sides of the glass, and a ball pen hammer would have been better because of the round head as it would give softer taps, thinner glass can just be snapped after one tap to run the line, Thank You
IF it was a large piece, but it wasn't. The fact that the guy's made his own hammer from re-bar says to me maybe he doesn't simply have access to a plethora of tools so he makes do (& well) with what he has.
I tried this method several times on a Shower Glass 3/8” but the Glass won’t break !!! Any advice ( I have 72” L that I have to cut it to 48” ). Thank you in advance!!!
This is also a method of cutting thick glasses ....nothing wrong in it . All methods are almost same only diffrence is how you apply force after scratching the glass .👍👌
May I ask you: If the glass was thinner ( about 2; 3; 4 mm...) , before it broke , we need to knock its face under the glass like you or do we bend it straight down? Thanks for your sharing on how to cut thick glass very good.
Knock the glass only if you absolutely have to... His technique is not that great... Knocking the glass can make the edge very uneven... Your welcome..
That's amazing, I just scored a 1/4" piece of glass that won't break, I tried tapping it with the ball on the end of the cutter, I guess I need something heavier to tap it with?
I use mineral turpentine for cutting oil for years it works fine as well and cheaper than kerosene have been recycling glass for years much cheaper when doing your own repairs.
That’s a horrible cut. Once you make the score and start the run which may need a hammer on 12mm you use your hand and the weight of the glass to complete the break. I worked in marine and ag glass for 8 years. Our thickest glass was 1/2 inch ocean going vessel grade tempered and bent.
What you are is wrong, tapping the glass that way put you in danger,, glass may instantly break due to its weight which might injure your wrist... There is much safer way to do it..
This is what I mentioned in the video, tapping force will be determined by your experience. an amateur person will definitely break the glass or may harm himself.if you know another method of cutting thick glass kindly mention.

Will teak oil work for cutting fluid?
Hi. Can I use sandpaper to smooth the edges?
It is better to use emery stone when u try to smooth edges manually.

@@BlackFaceTrudeau it is not impossible cause u can get custom sizes from companies i guess they cut it with some heavy duty machines
Tempered glass CANNOT be cut. Glass companies cut holes, dog doors, handles etc BEFORE tempering. Do not attempt it as it will explode.
will this method work with curves?
Yes, but you have to be patient while tapping glass

How to cut a tampered glass???
Tempering is the final process for a glass .So it would not be possible to cut it.
Tempered glass is a different animal. Think of tempered as a bubble and you end up popping the bubble when you break the surface.
