Real good. I hadn't played this for years and ended up here while looking for a good backing track. You actually fixed a part I was doing wrong. Like the way you slow things down and communicate the sections. It's not a criticism at all but might wanna use a guitar with fret markers in the future. Cheers
Suggestion, put an Xotic effects RC Booster in your effects chain(after the overdrive used as a base buffer) to scoop out your mids. Nice instructional 💯
OK, that was great, but also, what is the source of that amazing tone!!? That is thee perfect hard rock tone. I need a new guitar. I love my Tele, but now that I really understand Bebop, Country, Travis picking, etc., I am getting the urge to buy a nice humbucker guitar, with a Floyd Rose, so I can get back to Rockin'. I was a classic "shredder" before I heard that term very much, back in the 80s, when I played a Gibson Explorer knock-off, with double humbuckers, and tons of sustain. I even did some sweep picking, but mainly I was one of the fastest shredders around, like a gunslinger. I didn't learn it from Metal, but from my dad's Bluegrass picker friends. They saw all of the Metal guys I watched, moving their entire forearms and hand, with the fingers extended and explained that it looked cool, was I could play more accurate and probably faster by just using my thumb and pointer finger. I cringe when I think of all the showing off I did at 17! Whenever a friend brings over a real rock guitar (PRS, Kramer, etc.) it feels like going home. Anyway, sorry to ramble, you are a great player, and your tone is one of the best I've heard on UA-cam!
Hey, thanks so much for the kind words! I just started doing these videos a few months ago and ended up getting the Neural Quad Cortex ….I’m not quite up to speed with it yet but that’s where the tone is coming from! That, and the guitar I’m using has some Seymour Duncan EVH pickups that really help the sound. Thanks again, I’ll have lots more videos to come🤙
Yeah that tone is sick ! I get the exact same tone with a Peavey Rockmaster tube preamp with Electro Harmonix tubes, a BBE Sonic Maximizer, a dbx 266xl, a TC Electronics G Major, and a Quandraverb II all run into a Line6 Duoverb. It's fantastic ! 🔥 On main guitar is an Ash Aria Pro TS-600. Think if a Les Paul and SG had a baby. It also has '57 reissue Les Paul pickups, the secret sauce.
@@guitarsolodojo5596 Yes it is. All gear I purchased over the last 20 years. We always joke when we go to Guitar Center as I’ve never found any amp other I would buy except any Orange 20 to 100 watt tube amp or a Line 6 DT-50 tube amp.
Thanks! The guitar is a custom deal by a local luthier, Steve Nelson. Yeah, any time I have a choice, I choose no fret markers…. I think the dots are actually distracting, and I like the plain look of the fingerboard 🎸
Always loved this track, played it to death as a kid & more so when I learnt it on guitar, such an amazing riff & solo, thanks for breaking it down.
Same story here! I’ll be breaking down some more VH soon🎸Thanks for checking it out 🙏🏻
Well done!👍

Awesome tutorial! Thanks!
The beginning part is very similar to Hendrix version of killing floor. Those fast blues chugs take so much time to get right with legato
Interesting, I always loved Jimi’s intro to Killing Floor but never made a connection to this tune until you mentioned it….you’re right!
Evh never listened to Jiminy and even said it in a 1979 interview on you tube
