Your work is really beautiful, thanks for sharing it with us. I've seen that lately, you haven't posted any spoon-realted videos, and that makes me soo sad. They're not only instructive but very well recorded and enjoyable to watch. If you get into making videos again, it would be amazing to see your knife work with this beautifull spoons
Glad you like my work. Follow me on Instagram at instagram.com/dane.licina/?hl=en if you want to see my day to day work. I post a lot of short clips there. There was a carving one recently 🙂
Thank you for sharing your process. Could you explain again what you did with the linseed oil in the sun? How long does it take? And I'm really interested since you said it removes the oil smell
I'm an animal and natural fiber spinner (sheep, alpaca, llama, mohair, bamboo, cotton, and many others), and the wood hand carders I use to comb and align the fibers are treated and sealed with tung oil- have you ever used it or any other oils on your spoons? Greetings from NYC!! 🤗🌷💚
Put it in the sun in a glass jar (anything transparent), on a sunny window sill, smaller amount polymerizes faster. Stir occasionally. It takes time, depending on the amount of sun. It will thi Ken a d loose its smell. Honey consistency, wait to long and you have a hard plasticky mess 🙂
@@danesspoons I am watching your video now,yes it is very interesting. I have been a carver for many years now & never really added pattern to my finished work. I have a great deal of my carving & if one day i find carving to much,i may start adding pattern to my work. I do not paint my work either,as i love the pattern in my chosen wood i have just carved. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos.

Can you use used coffee grounds?
Yes, just dry them after brewing coffee and use. It works, I do it sometimes.
Can you describe how you pre-polymerize the oil?
Put it in the sun in a glass jar (anything transparent), on a sunny window sill, smaller amount polymerizes faster. Stir occasionally. It takes time, depending on the amount of sun. It will thi Ken a d loose its smell. Honey consistency, wait to long and you have a hard plasticky mess 🙂

ما نوع الدهان الدي يستعمل في لخشب وهل هوا صحي
Lines are filled in with finely ground coffee and sealed with food grade linseed oil.
Will it fade away when wash with water after?
No, it lasts as long as the spoon. In fact, only way to remove it is to cut it off with a knife.
@@danesspoons oh okay. Thank youuuuu...i was abt to buy the electric pen nib to carve the design..but thank goodness theres this method. Great video!💛
How to buy some?
Raw or boiled linseed oil?
The kind for salads you find in a grocery store. Boiled is for furniture, it has toxic additives so not food safe.
