Ike really does deserve the top spot even if he's not popular or not in smash. He is by far the best written protagonist in the series. No one has gone through as much character development compared to Ike, and you really do feel for him and see the world in his eyes when you're playing FE9 and 10.

I like how none of the characters from Gaiden/Shadows of Valentia, Genealogy of the Holy War and Thracia 776 made it onto this list. Also, if we are talking about usefulness, where the hell is Wolf and Sedgar? Not to mention Jaffar, who have the Silencer skill and can instant kill a lot of boss units. Also, there's too many lords. Of course they get the most character development and screen time.
Shadow of Valentia wasn't made when this video was posted and every assasin in Blazing Sword can use Silencer.

I like Roy as I play through his game but I can sorta get it, he's a bit too pasive of a character. I liked his father better due to the kind of maturity he had.

Roy is not as good as you maybe think. In the Fire Emblem Game he is not as strong as in smash bros that you do not better fight often with him. He is somehow overpowered in Smash bros wich i cant understand. Marth is stronger then Roy but even his stats are weak in the smash bros series compared to Roy wich is awful

Jezz Penrose Yeah. Lucina determined and strong, and Hector brash but heroic. The characters before Fire Emblem Fates were so full of character, that it is difficult to tell who are the best in terms of characterization. Fortunately, Watch Mojo had done this, and done it well.

Fates characters brought off to much of a fan service vibe and instead of an army it felt like corrin's harem.
This list was really well done and people saying that theres to many lords well of course this list is gonna contain alot of lords their important characters.

+ShyanTheLegend That is entirely objective though. While me favorite Fire Emblem was Sacred Stones for GBA, my second favorite was Radiant Dawn on the Wii. Personally I found it's gameplay to be just as high quality as the handheld titles, and I personally thought the story was MUCH better than any of the others at the time. FE8: SS is a nostalgic hit for me and will remain my favorite as the very first Fire Emblem game I played, way back in 4th grade, but to me there is little importance to the venue I play Fire Emblem on, while to others it is very important. So a broad statement such as that is rather short sighted in my opinion.
Damn so many noobies to the series. I'm here sitting cheering on the old characters while half the comments are like wtf where's my Awakening or fates character. Honestly I thought Roy deserved a spot. At least he got an honorable mention.

+Macintyre Black Knight was meh as a character, interesting story arc, yes, but you only controlled him for a few chapters, he was hardly YOUR character. Nephenee would have been so much better, incredible stat growth and an adorable personality, a country girl embarrassed about trying to fit in with the city folk.

I have a feeling that Not many share my opinion that Micaiah Is an awesome character. (though I've seen some people hate her for what amounted to opposing Ike for part of the story)
Quintin Johnson I liked Micaiah a lot. I just do wonder why the heck I enjoyed using Ilyana who has literally 0 character development.
She started off strong as a character but then her beliefs seemed to change and it made her an inconsistent character. She wants peace and will kill thousands to get it, even if she knows its the wrong thing to do because she believes there's no other choice. Ike would never do that to innocent people, ever, even if he knows there's no other choice because he would want to find another way making him way better than Micaiah. She's overrated imo since everywhere I go I see people praise her as a character and I think she has no morals whatsoever.

I think these characters represent fire emblem in a whole as they are iconic figures of the series that cover plot and story. The characters shown also represent timelines. Tiki for example was a child during shadow dragons but is mature in awakening
My favorites in order though are:

I'd love a Fire Emblem animated show if it was as good as Avatar: The Last Airbender.
There is infact a fire emblem anime, it came out in the 80s/90s and is about marth and his first game, unfortunately it only made it to 2 episodes, but, and get this, it was officially dubbed long before fire emblem came out in america.

I agree with most of your list for once. A few of my favorites that you missed: Owain, Kana, Vaike, Ewan, Dozla, Stefan, Titania...I could go on. Fire Emblem is full of awesome characters. It's worth at least one more top 10 imo.

Ike is the only choice for the top spot! He's humble, noble, non-prejudice, believes all are equal, always completes what he sets out to do, he's a true hero.

+amsugi 1968 From where do you get that opinion? I personally agreed with he list. Lucina's only flaw is her seriousness and commitment to her duty that can cause her to act bluntly and rashly. In one of Tiki's support conversations she compares Chrom to Anri and Robin to Marth but she doesn't compare Lucina to anyone.
So glad Leo got an honorable mention along with Roy, both are favs of mine

Chrom is just really likeable, but maybe that’s Matthew Mercer’s fault, who voices Chrom, and I enjoy using him in smash, even if his recovery isn’t that good, and Chrom has such a great personality
