- The complete session recorded by Fairport Convention on 18 March 1969 for John Peel on the Top Gear show on BBC Radio 1 and broadcast on 6 April 1969.
Tracklist:
1. Cajun Woman (0:07)
2. Percy's Song (2:51)
3. Si Tu Dois Partir, Va T'En (8:17)
4. Autopsy (10:43)
Please take me back to 1969.
Sandy singing Dylans' Percys Song is just pure magic.
Autopsy is definitely the standout here. Ah, the old Fairport, an epoch that will never return. Its the vibe, its the sixties, its the love of music not the stardom.
Agreed. Nice alternative solo to the record from RT.
What a very talented group of people, Sandy Denny had such a great voice, but then, so has Jaquie Mcshee with The Pentangle.
Autopsy. Flawless.
Autopsy is Sandy at her most introspective and intensely personal best. Cajun Woman is a rare performance by fairport which was repeated at Cropredy Festival in 2002 and 2006. I first heard Sandy's voice in the late 60s from Percy's Song (Sandy and Fairport were played on WBAI FM in those days). I got to see Sandy and Fairport perform twice in 1974.
Other sessions broadcast on the same programme were by ,Mandrake Paddlesteamer, Black Cat Bones, Mason, Capaldi, Wood and Frog, and Ric Grech played violin on the Fairport session.
I recall listening to this...happy daze
Thank you, great songs
Excellent. Thanks.
thank you 😎
on autopsy she makes me whole again
Just great
Loving it.
Brilliant!
si tu dois partir va t and if you do, close the door
pretty fkn righteous
De flipe total!!!
Sandy Denny sounds great. Wondering who played both the violin and accordion on Cajun Woman?
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heyday_(Fairport_Convention_album)
Ric Grech - fiddle
No accordian, it seems, according to that listing.
Weird thing is - although I hear no accordian on Cajun Woman - there definitely _is_ one on Si Tu Dois Partir . Seems nobody knows anymore who played the bugger, though.
Richard is the accordionist.
Is that Simon on electric dulcimer on Percys Song ?
Could you put up si tu dois partir on its own please?
I'll be uploading all of them individually at some point, but I have several thousand more tracks still to upload in addition to almost two thousand that I've already uploaded...so it may not be for a few weeks...but I'll try to get it on soon
Am I crazy or did I once see a video version of them playing "si tu dois patif"?
@@howardquinn5911 Possibly. They did a live set for French TV around this time. Some of those sets were filmed (in colour), and some were kept in INA's archives. I'll have a look. Don't raise your hopes, though. I said, "some".
For those who are fighting against their depressions: perhaps you would like music on Christian channels from South America, for example: Puls - Impacto Vertical
Just great
