Buddy Daddies’ ending was indeed perfect. From the brutal knife scene, knowing the Guy obsessed with victim’s last words could only make gargle noises before going out, to the time skip of Miri now in high school. Another big W for PA Works
I don't mind saying this is better than Spy x Family. It being a long running manga, it's story and development is naturally drawn out and filled in with more entertaining and crowd appeal. Buddy daddies just looked at that and said 'we don't have time for that' and just made a 12 ep series that does what sxf does. Shorter is definitely sweeter in this case.
Buddy daddies totally deseves more fame, because, the plot, the characters, even the art style and voices its just beautiful for be a original story. Now my friday's don't have sense
I agree this is the perfect final for the show after what that did happened last episode. Like it was good to see them having breakfast like a normal family after what that happened. As to give Miri a sense of normalize. But when they drop of her at the kindergarten, it was good that Rei did comfort her after she did wonder if her mother would be there for the play. Then we have Rei and Kazuki getting ready for one last job. As they will convince Rei’s father to let them leave the organization. So to see them break into the mansion was awesome. Especially how they used smoke grenades before shooting the opponents. And even more so when they fought against the big guy. As Kazuki was no match against him by himself, and while Rei was fairing better it still was not enough as he always had to be on the defensive. So Kazuki did lure him away from Rei, by holding Miri’s mom as beat. And the way he did move into the kitchen was like from a horror movie. Where you can not stop the monster which is slowly getting to you. But luckily Rei was there to help before Kazuki got killed. And together with a knife stabbed into his neck, and making him fall they managed to take him out. In a gruesome but justified way, especially as his beloved journal burned into a crisp as they lit the room on fire. Then Rei had to confront his father, and it was great to see how much he had changed and learned new things since meeting Miri. Which he told to his father that he no longer wanted to be a part of his old life. At the Christmas play where Miri did sing, it was at first sad when she scanned the room for her parents but didn’t see them. But then it was so nice to see that happy smile on her, as her dads did walk in their Santa costumes. Because of how bloody their other clothes was, and despite of how hurt they was. But my favorite part was that time skip. As we see Miri as a teenager ready to enter high school. And how her dads now have a beachfront cafe as a legitimate workplace. Then how Miri was still acting so cute like when she did taste Rei’s cooking. Her taking a selfie with her dads afterwards was very wholesome as well. Especially as we did see all of those other beautiful pictures. From their years together and even one from Kazuki’s sister in law, which was nice that they did not forget about her. Also the picture of her mother in Miri’s bedroom was also sweet❤ This show is getting a 10/10 from me❤
The timeskip had everything you’d want: Miri still being adorable, Kazuki still being a bit of a dog (with Miri totally knowing about it) , and Rei elevatin’ that French toast. Thanks for covering this show and hope you recover quickly!
Peak, Goat, whatever positive things anyone want to give this show is applicable. I wanted a season 2 and 3, but dude i am satisfied beyond belief with this ending. Buddy Daddies has been a show for 12 straight episodes didnt miss not one single time, a beautiful series that truly understands family.
I feel the ending was handled perfectly. so many series trip at the ending but with this you can tell they took their time with deciding how to wrap the series up
Not going to lie it was an awesome ending Knife Death was on point that Psycho losing his book in the fire also perfect Rei Dad no longer having rei as his ultimate weapon realize all the time he put into turning rei into a stone cold killer failed was another perfect win love how despite everything Kazuki Rei and Miri become the ultimate Family Trio they reverse this ending also Miri not becoming the Deliquent Teenager from Kazuki nightmare is and Extra plus they raised that bundle of joy well not bad for a couple of Ex-Assassins but what happen to Kyu is he still around
kyu is doing fine there’s a pic of him at their dinner in their memory wall, they probably live in different cities but he visits them sometimes. wish he had gotten out of the organization too but i guess it would’ve been extra hard for him
I agree with you on the premise that the ending to this series was perfect to close it out. This is a great example on how to use a time skip in an anime series that is trying to close it out, without having to explain (or rather animate) it, which is let up to the viewer to figure out (or rather imagine), "What happened after the confrontation was settled?" It turned out to my interpretation is that, when Miri get a little bit older, they eventually had to explain what happened to her mother, considering that she was about 4-5 years old, and wouldn't understand the concept of death. So now that she is starting High School, everything turned out alright, with her accepting her mother's death, and moving onwards and upwards with her adoptive parents in Rei and Kazuku. As for Rei, I didn't expect that he would turn out to be a cook, that specializes in French Toast/Breakfast. So to me that was a very unexpected surprise, and he's enjoying his new found life (Also he's serving up Miri's favorite food). And finally Kazuku, has found new meaning to his life afterwards, and has not really changed much except that, his old lifestyle and habits has remained the same, except that Miri is now part of his life. During the closing credits, I love the details on a recounting (or rather retelling) of what happened while they were growing up together during that 10 year span. I'm really going to miss this series as well as the other series "Tomo-chan is a Girl". Bother series have the potential of being anime of the season, if not top 20 anime of the year. Well done indeed. Until then, Enjoy!
I really enjoyed this series I didn’t think i would at first I was so worried when Kasuki and Rei where fighting in the mansion and i really loved the time skip it was a really great ending i would love for them to make an OVA maybe taking place between the time skip
I love listening to your careful analysis on this show every Friday! I’m so gonna miss it! I find it so fun in the irony of Ogino’s death - he died stabbed in the throat so he couldn’t even said his own last works! It’s so good! Thank you for watching along with us!
Ok so I know that this probably will not get a season 2 and I would be completely fine with that after this perfect final episode. But if it somehow did I would love to see more of teenage Miri. As she goes in high school, and has to navigate that while getting tangled up in various adventures. I say this as I think that I have gotten an addition to seeing Miri as a teenager. Because of the amazing potential stories that it could bring, which Kazuki showed some of in his nightmare visions a couple of episodes ago
It’s a perfect conclusive ending. And ah wisdom tooth extraction can be annoying or painful. Seems like Kazuki is still having fun with girls. It was a good timeskip and we see older Miri who knows her mom died. We also see how they are all a family that is now living normally. The knife in the neck death was brutal and satisfying and unexpected. And then they burn the room. I don’t think they can add more to this story. PA Works are good at concluding their stories. Giant Beast of Ars didn’t conclude it well. I think Rei’s dad probably understood Rei is changed and also can’t really fight with his arm like that. And it really is just a family unit of friends in a way although they left their romance with others up in the air. I think Ogino wanted to write his own last words or something too
Pretty good anime-original series. I enjoyed it every single week. As for my wisdom-teeth, mine were so weirdly impacted that they were never going to move or try to come in, so I never had to get them out.
PA Works have really surprised me with Akiba Maid Senso & Buddy Daddies whohave produced two of my favourite anime in Shirobako and Hanasaku Iroha. Can't remember the last time I made french toast but bcuz of this anime decided to make a couple last week.
The ending was perfection, as the whole series! Never a boring episode, everything was perfectly balanced, the comedy, the feels and the action. I thought the father dying was the only possible way out but Rei was so much smarter and actually planned the best course of action, let the father live but becoming unusable to him (ouch btw!); his speech was also very moving, I'm so happy for him, they are a such a cute family. I loved the time skip and I don't think we should get a second season, their story has concluded in the best possible way. The diner, Rei cooking, the photos board, perfection!
I thought the series would run longer than it did and go through everything that happened until the end and then working through their conflicts. IM NOT READY TO SAY GOODBYE 😭 BUT THIS ANIME WAS SO WELL MADE But honestly I’m glad they didn’t drag it out longer than it needed to be because sometimes it just backfires on something that’s already great. It would be absolutely amazing and welcome if they did like a sequel of an episode or maybe 2 or 3, I think that would be the right amount if they were to do a sequel. IM GOING TO MISS SATURDAYS WATCHING BUDDY DADDIES 😭 Anyone got any recommendations for great anime like this 😭
Wow so very good ending. I LOVE IT!!! The way they ended it makes sense at all. In the end I'm so happy that it shows how Miri still loves his daddies and I'm convinced that they told Miri everything. You can see Miri have the picture of her mother implying she already know she is dead. And the fact that Kazuki said that he is now working honest says it all that Miri knows everything. So happy that Ogino died. Most satisfying death knowing that Kazuki avenged his dead wife and unborn child as well as Miri's mother. What a roller coaster of emotion. Very recommendable anime
I won't regret to spend time watching this masterpiece I hope one day will get season 2❤❤❤ 10000000/10 And agreed about slice of life you said why not it's the best to turn an anime to transform from fights and murder to slice of life, rom com that will be perfect
it was absolutely perfect, when i saw the timeskip i just realised that the show ended in seconds which gave me a tiny bit of dissapointment but as the scene progressed i started to realise that the show did not have anything else to offer and it was just complete. The little details were also really heartwarming tho it does make me wonder if the trio still sees people from their past.
I disagree with you that a season 2 wouldn't work. Season 2 could expand more of what happened in between the time skip. Things like: - How did Miri learn the truth of her parents and how did she get over it? - What became of Kyu after the incident? - What became of the Suwa family and how did they let Rei off so easily? I think answering questions like those would add to the appreciation of how they got the life they do now.
For me it's near perfect ending, its not like I'm saying it's bad or something it's just there are some questions needed to be answered, like did miri found out that her mother is dead, kazuki and rei are the one who killed her biological father or did she find out what kazuki and rei former jobs, but i guess the animators leave for the audience to interpret it, but overall it's a great ending to the anime
I’ve found PA Works to be solid over the years, I love most of their original work like Buddy Daddies, Iroduku, and Shitobako. Hopefully they’ll continue making great anime.
Buddy Daddies is like SpyxFamily. Except that I wholeheartedly like it. Wholesome, sad, funny, good action. I can't wait for this show to be forgotten by everyone within weeks, like so many before it. Ah, there it is again, the Sad...
You know Buddy Daddies is great when it leaves you wanting more. seriously those 12 episodes went by real quick. I think the Ending was perfect but also leaves room for a second season Also Miri's singing is the cutest ever 😭😭
Perfect. It's all about family. *cue vin diesel meme* Definitely my favourite of the season(possibly of the year), and one of my favourite anime originals of all time
For more gangster daddy feels, check out The Yakuza Guide to Babysitting (sweet AND dark) and Hinamatsuri (Party boy Yakuza adopts a lazy psychokinetic alien girl, even funnier than Nozaki-kun IMO)
Daughter Daddies in season 2 😂 ( just as a prediction )but still i dont know does we need a season 2 or not, because if i talk about Miri’s life is living like a normal citizen in a country but still thinking about the school with his friends, Its my stupidity 😅😅😅😅😅
I love how the show end ❤❤ But rei should have short hair only And kuzuki should not have beard It is my favourite anime 😍 I hope it should have OVA of all the moment of Miri elementary school and high school etc
The ending proved this anime doesn't need a second second, I think it really wrapped up everything especially for our three heroes who got a happy ending.

Even better than Spy x Family or John Wick? I'm just asking questions...
@@hitachicordoba yup
The post-ending scene you never knew you wanted until now.

So true!!
Yup
absolutely I vastly prefer buddy daddies to spy x family
Writing and story wise along with the amount of emotional impact that it had on me buddy daddies is far more superior than SxF it’s not even close.
I'm going to miss this show so much. I wish we could have a second season, but this was a very good ending.

P.A. Works does not miss. Buddy Daddies is easily one of the best works. ❤👏🏾

Can't believe that this series is over 😢❤ love this anime❤🎉
This anime had my emotions going for sure. I’m very satisfied with the ending. A well deserved happy ending.
Absolutely perfect ending. Nice to see high school Miri and older Rei and Kazuki. I'll miss these Buddy Daddies and Miri
Hopefully MHA, in both manga and anime, ends up with a timeskip like Buddy Daddies
Daughter Daddies in season 2 😂 ( just as a prediction )but still i dont know does we need a season 2 or not, because if i talk about Miri’s life is living like a normal citizen in a country but still thinking about the school with his friends,

the ending was simply perfect I don't need a season 2 I feel satisfied and heart warmed
this show was perfect coincidence for me
And now Miri will go on and become a super hero
Yes it was a great ending! I'm not crying, you're crying
Love the happy ending, glad they didn't do the tragic route, would have never recovered
I love how the show end ❤❤
But rei should have short hair only
And kuzuki should not have beard
It is my favourite anime 😍
I hope it should have OVA of all the moment of Miri elementary school and high school etc
Amen
Perfect ending
This was a great anime I just want to know what they told miri about her mom and biological dad
The ending proved this anime doesn't need a second second, I think it really wrapped up everything especially for our three heroes who got a happy ending.
I thought there would be 13 episodes
14 years later Kazuki is still hanging out with girls and haven't found a permanent wife. Wut
Also to add to ogino death, it was his obsession with last words that got him killed.
