For what it’s worth, the marker with “God/Self” etc states the four principles of Boy Scouting that Lord Badin-Powell started long ago in England.
Oh wow!!’So gorgeous, even though it was a slow slog up the mountain🥴Well done RR and friends!! Thanks for sharing!🥰🥾🥾😎
Your and Lil Chaps videos really brighten my day, love following your journey!
Congratulations! Can you please ask Fireball about her experience summiting Mount Baden Powell in shorts?
Thanks for taking us along. Enjoying your videos every morning with breakfast. Happy Trails
OH WOW!!! That was scary & amazing all at the same time! RR you always have such an amazing attitude - you are a joy to follow!!! Kudos to Fireball for keeping up - she is an inspiration!!!
What a sunrise! 🌄
I live nearby there. And hike those mountains all summer. It’s beautiful.
Snow is a mixed blessing. The winter time is the time to cross frozen lakes, rivers, ponds etc. however it’s the season of snow and cold
6 months in my part of Alaska
You guys are such fun to watch!
Fireball, you are a positive vibe breath of fresh air!
Love your videos and Lil Chap's too.
....
The bag is pronounced Kuh-nock.
I won a bet on that one. ;) look forward to you pronouncing it correctly and showing up all those "other" influencers. 🤣😉😘
If the timing is right, when you get to my state of WA, I would love to treat you all to some trail magic.
Stay safe. 💜
Amazing and love hearing you say no Everest!! Having fun is so much more important than checking things off a list because that’s the next thing you’re “supposed to do”.
Congrats on summiting Baden Powell!
You seem to be getting more comfortable hiking in the snow. Love your videos!!
Great accomplishment - you have so much positive energy and physical energy - oh to be young again. Congratulations! Thanks for sharing.
I just spent hours catching up. Lol. I couldn't stop watching.. 😵💫🤯
You guys are doing great and having fun too! We love watching your adventure. Happy trails!
Amazing climb today. Happy trails.🤟🏻🥾🏔
Great day
That was a beast of a MT. I like fireball in the snow wearing shorts🎉
Cool early morning hike!
Go Roadrunner Go!
👟😎👍🏼
Hiking in the dark, especially in snow is too scary for me. Glad you have a good tramily with you.
Beautiful!!! Loving the views!
Nice! Early start. I love snow climbing, but yeah, I'll never do Everest either. That's a whole different beast of a journey. Nice summit. Still a lot of snow at the summit. I'm surprised. Yep, Poodle Dog Bush. Looks like everyone had a great day. Here's to Safe Travels and Happy Trails!! :)
Great job Roadrunner and tramily! It looked really hard!
Words are not enough! You and Fireball are so positive and jokey but I know you are serious hikers. Congratulations on conquering Baden Powell, I’m sure he would have been impressed 😊
Awesome video!!!!!!

Love your cheery, upbeat attitude. Keeps me wanting to see more. I've hikerd in the snow and it can be a challenge.
I salute your courage and desire to challenge yourself Julianne.
Congratulations! That mountain‼️ You guys planned it out just right. Even before you mentioned it, we could see, on the descent, that the crust snow had turned mushy! Hope you got a go rest that evening.
Discovered your videos somewhere during your AT in '22, and watched to Katahdin. A particularly compatible tramily this time around looks like (though Foxx, Cheeseball, and Groceries were mighty fine too). Wanted to say there are 2 things I particularly notice - your video/vlogging skills have blossomed exponentially, just really well done; and also - the Joy you exude being back on Trail on a long thru-hike again shines brightly. Like coming alive, this is what I should be doin'. Obvious... Good Stuff!
🚶♀️👟👟⛺🌞 that look like I really tough climb you guys do amazing so beautiful sea in the mountains with the snow on them stay safe and happy hiking 💯💪🏆
Glissading is fun. What a great day
Nice to here from you today . Adam
Wow that was a tough day! That mountain was very steep and looked very dangerous with only a head lamp. The views were amazing after daylight. Glad all of you are safe.
Super interesting to follow your hike. Did the PCT a long time ago and always fun to see the trail again. Started about a month later than you, but had more snow around Idyllwild, less around Big Bear and Mt Baden Powell.
Had a Thermarest that developed a built-in pillow, fairly similar to yours. I got a free replacement in a store (on the AT). It got worse fairly quickly so switching to a new pad was the only option, but with the delay of the videos you've probably switched already when this video is out.
Was really hoping to hear "Mountain Crossin!" up on the peak.
Congrats on summiting Mount Baden-Powell. Great views. I feel sorry for the hikers who skip it. I hope you take the Blue Blaze to Mount Whitney when you get there. 😎👍
LETS GO!
I am very proud of all of you. Climbing with only a headlamp to guide you looked looks pretty ominous, but dam don’t it fell good. Be safe and hike on.
That's a long exhausting day! Baden Powell, done and dusted!
The water bladder is pronounced Kuh-Nock, by the way 😊 it means hill, in Gaelic.
I came here to say the same
Kuh-knock.
❤
Glissading looks like a lot of fun. Glad you had the experience. Hike~~On~~>
Thanks for sharing this. God I miss it up there. Snow, or not. I've never been up there when the monument was covered up that much.
Good morning, Roadrunner. Ya'll did great, I know it was miserable for you to go that slow. The views as you climbed and reached the summit were awesome. Such pretty country. Glad ya'll got an early start to avoid postholing. Which was worse for you - climbing up or going down? You're making great progress. Take care. Stay safe. See you tomorrow.
Congrats on summiting Baden-Powell, any climb over 8,000 feet elevation is tough when you don't have a chance to acclimate. I hope you take the opportunity to climb Mt Whitney, the trail should be pretty clear by the time you reach there. For extra points you could climb Mt Hood (11,245') from Timberline Lodge and Mt Rainier (14, 440'), the highest peaks in Oregon and Washington, but the timing won't be right when you arrive in August. I hope you avoided touching the poodle dog bushes.
Mama and little Bear just gave you a shout out also on their recent (today’s) video!!! :)
hope Fireball has something to put on those deep scratches so they don’t get infected plus it’s gotta be painful! Glad no other injuries! Long day but big accomplishment. Keep on hiking!
Yes, Poodledog Bush. To me it always reminds me of that carnivorous plant in the Addams Family that Morticia used to feed meat to.
Definitely Poodle Dog Bush - that was the biggest stretch of it we went thru in 2022.
I know trudging through the snow is no fun, but man you got lots of that coming in the sierras and beyond. I hope you're not gonna say screw, I'm skipping (don't think you will but hey never know). And yes that was Poodle Dog Bush. Lots more of that coming up ahead.
Well done Road Runner!! Please use sunscreen (reapply). You are getting very burned (and so is Whitney on her legs) and snow being so reflective, that will give you a nasty burn. Stay safe out there!
Born and raised in Southern California, climbed Baden , Jacinto, Gorgonio, Baldy, Whitney, Shasta, Raineer, White Mtn. and this is the first I am hearing of Poodle Bush? I have sure seen it, based on pictures, but certainly has not been an issue. I think less of it north. Good that you practiced your arrest technique as me thinks there is more snow to come!
It's a burn zone plant and supposedly way worse than poison oak...
It's a in increasing problem due to the wildfires in the last few years.
Isn’t there a lifetime warranty on the sleeping pad?
This here Dog Bush on that there trail.
See, that wasn't so bad, now was it? The whole key is timing, conditions and of course having the correct tools. This is exactly the routine in the Sierra; get to 4 miles under each pass, then start between 3-4am.
I know you guys are on a budget, but you might consider getting longer axes (especially Chap and Hammer). Now you know why you should be able to grasp/touch the head around upper thigh (dangling hand) as it touches the ground. That's because it's used to stabilize while traversing, not just as an emergency self arrest. Firecracker has the axe I use - it also looks like she has the proper length.
Also, Firecracker found out one of the downsides of glissading (the other of course hurtling down the mountain out of control) - that's why plunge stepping is safer. You guys will want to have tights and gaiters - real knee high ones, not mini-UL ones. They will not only protect from getting scratched up all over (just wait for post-holing), but from sunburn. I once rescued a hiker - fair skinned like Firecracker - whose legs were so badly sunburned he could barely hike out.
And lastly, don't f*ck around with your headlamps - reverse the batteries until needed (to prevent drain) and carry spares. Oh, get larger gas cannisters to melt snow - you found out how just how dehydrated you can become.
This here mountain with that there headlamp.
Does Hammer and Fireball have a youtube channel?
I'm enjoying your perspective and Lil'Chap perspective of the same journey. Keep them coming.
HammerHikes
Fireball doesn't have channel
@@umreeh thank you
It only takes 2 months to climb EVEREST! No biggie 😮
If you remembered sour cream you can gather up all the flowers and then all the plants that you notice the birds are showing you are edible well all the animals available to tell you which ones are in the world. The song that you know I was thinking about you
What does self arresting mean?
Too bad you guys can't do Mt. Baldy. 5:03 Tall than Baden at 10,064 ft, and closer to Los Angeles. 10 mi away.
There you can look down upon Los Angeles.
Like gods watching us 9.7 million ants scurrying around.
Keep on.
@ 8:50, Does Chap use that technique to attract women? Lol!
Maybe I missed this…. Why start this so early?
Come on now you dont want to spend 70,000$ and climb Everest 😅from 18,000 feet to 29,000 feet awww i was really looking forward to that trip. 🤪
Sliding down a snow slope on your butt isn't a good idea. Seems fun until you hit a hidden rock, and your thru hike suddenly becomes an emergency evacuation. Tailbones are really fragile, and you can't hike if it's broken.
Keep the brakes applied (axe). Also, self arrest practice is important so a good snow slope with a safe runout should be an opportunity. You have to work instinctively if you fall off one of those steep traverses. Looks a fun hill, especially with the early hard snow.
Definitely poodle dog bush.
Is this on trail or a side trail?
ON trail…. Hold on… what do you mean?
@@hikingdancer I don't remember now. LOL
Yoga will help you store 725 cal every day so don't give up on me or whatever normally it would just run
Never leave a man or woman behind in challenging sections...keep everyone in sight....I am a little disappointed in your crew.
Little mountaineering experience, and it shows. The Sierras await. Hopefully lessons are learned before then.
