ARB Differential Breather Kit Install | 2nd Gen Tacoma

- Today we are sharing our experience installing the ARB Differential Breather Kit. Before leaving for our Arizona trip at the end of 2019 for the new year and Mom's wedding. We decided to change out all the fluids of our powertrain on Loki, our 2014 Toyota Tacoma. It was at this time that we discovered we had a severe issue taking place in Loki's rear differential, as the gear oil looked like chocolate milk. This problem is typically caused by water being sucked into the differential through a vent at the top of the axel. The ARB Differential Breather Kit should fix this issue by running an extended line to a higher location allowing the rear axel to breathe air rather than water during deep water crossings.

Were did you get the extra shark bite Tube couplers for the arb line?
Great install vid, been thinking about this and you helped me pull the trigger. Do you have a link for the extra pressure fitting? I can probably figure it out but I'm lazy... :D

What size is the step down barb connection ? You mentioned 3/8” on the arb side what about the smaller size??

As a mechanic i applaud you for how well you did on your explination on how the breather works .. when the pressure builds high enough it moves the check valve in the breather and lets it escape

I’ve watched many videos about this mod, no one mentioned the front diff. Is front diff high enough?
On our 2nd Gen tacoma the front diff breather is high enough, we simply wanted to include it in the video to be thorough and to bring all of our diff breathers into the same manifold since the ARB Kit accommodates it as well.
I never understood people with snorkels that would run the diff breather into the snorkel and make it even higher. Cut a hole slip the hose in and silicon it all together. BOOM now one level covers everything.

It’s been so long now we aren’t sure where exactly we found them but we simply looked up the part description as it was listed on the ARB website.

Hi i have a 2013 tacoma and was wondering who made your front bumber? Would like to get one.
Thanks for reaching out with your question, that’s an unfortunate story. The bumper is a Pelfreybilt aluminum plate number and they were one of the hot custom fabricators for Toyotas back a few years ago. They are unfortunately out of business now. We would recommend Bay Area Metal Fab as they bought out the Pelfreybilt company and have carried along most of the same designs but tougher. For a more generic off-road bumper, CBI off-road does an excellent job as well.

If you’re new to Central Florida, go check out Citrus WMA. It is one of our best off-roading spots. Great campsite there too- Holder Mine. Be sure to download some maps ahead of time and stay on designated trails.
