Cats…cats are everywhere in Istanbul. NOT a place for ailurophobias though.
Istanbul is one of my favorite cities! 🙂🫰❤
It’s good and bad. They end up spreading a lot of things when there’s overpopulation. I just hope they’re fixed and returned so Turkey doesn’t suffer overpopulation of cats and species that call Turkey home possibly extinct. I love cats but I’m about conservation.
When they tuck their paws in while in loaf mode...too damn cute.
yeah wait if you see a black and white female cat would you pet her or would you give her some pets in the neck?

Cats are treated so well in Turkey, it’s really nice to see.
I was amazed at how well the stray animals all looked in Turkey. Not mangy or skinny and all looked well taken care of by their communities. Great to see
That’s why they trust humans
@@victory5784 they were very gentle and trusting. They had no reason to fear people it seemed
As an American who so deeply loves animals and dreams of owning my own animal sanctuary and conservation and whatnot, I'm SO jealous! :( I WISH the majority of Americans cared enough, and were good enough people, to treat animals properly and take care of them and keep them safe and that animals could safely trust people in general instead of most likely losing their lives if trusting someone..... :/
I was born in 1994, so this happened quite a good amount of time ago. But for a few years when I was a little kid, my parents and I lived in a TINY town in Oklahoma. (When I say TINY, I mean it. The whole town had less than 700 people, there were only stop signs no traffic lights, and for any kind of shopping, the only options there were just a gas station my mom worked at (that still had gas for UNDER 90 cents a gallon in the early 2000s when normally it was a couple dollars (usually between a dollar and change to two bucks. But again this place had it for LESS THAN 90 cents a gallon instead), a store that sold penny candy, and like one or two other small niche businesses not useful for groceries or anything like that. The closest grocery store was between an hour and an hour and a half drive away in another town entirely. Our school campus had kindergarten all the way through community college, and each class was an entire graduating class (by that, I mean. For example, the kids I went to kindergarten with would be the same kids I'd be with in every single class every single year after that, and the class of 20 something kids - if that many - was the entire class of 2012. It was such a small town that when my brother's dog got out one night, my best friend and I walked completely across town in less than 5 minutes. And my family's house was one the very edge of one side of town, and we had walked to the very edge of the total opposite side. So. No exaggeration.
When my brother's dog came back home and no longer needed to be searched for, my dad went onto the front porch, and called my name. Nowhere near yelling at the top of his lungs or anything like that. But I was still able to hear him clear on the other side.
My family's house was RIGHT next to the train tracks. Literally. They ran through our backyard.
The other side of the tracks was empty fields. It was a very very common dumping site for not just trash, but also dogs. And given our proximity to where they were abandoned, they would very quickly make their way to our porch and scratch at our door ESPECIALLY when it was raining and storming.
Most people would ignore them or at most drop them off at shelters or have them put down.
My parents actually put themselves in bankruptcy because they took in every single one of the dogs, fed them, took them to the vet for any and every treatment they needed, nursed them back to health when necessary, and when they were ready, they found them forever homes with people they screened very closely and thoroughly, BUT never charged. They did all of it out of their own pockets.
That's the kind of example I was raised with. I've always been passionate about helping animals and taking care of them and everything. And I can't believe the way other people treat them. It's appalling
@@MrShadez810Not a lot of homies there is why it’s safe

I love that people in Turkey take care of their stray animals. They feed them and care for them. It's amazing really. The strays are everyone's pets.
Muslims revere cats as Muhammed loved them and treated them with care, kindness and respect. Therefore in predominantly Islamic countries, you will find lots of cats roaming the streets freely and going into buildings like mosques etc. There is a legend that the tabby cat has a stripe on its back because Muhammed traced his finger along the back of one to ensure they would never fall on their back but always on their feet.

Istanbul strays are treated very well. ❤
Yes, there's laws that protect them.
Not only in Istanbul. Most of the coastal cities. I live in Izmir and we have a park nearby where dogs and cats live like royalties. They have little houses, toys, beds and they eat more meat than I do 🤣
They always cuddle to sleep together and play together. Never fight over food. We have 2 vets located near the parks and always check up on them. In return puppers protect us. 5 years ago I had to go to school at 5 am and our pup patrol walked with me to the ferry station. I was so nervous as it was so dark but they protected me untill I was safe. The strays on more central area are fed with leftovers from restaurants and they are MASSIVE 🤣 They always take shelter in stores from heat or cold and they are super friendly. I recommend you to visit Izmir’s coastal areas 😂. My foreigner boyfriend was so in love with all the puppers and kitties and how we treated them; at the end there were more photos of animals than us in his phone!
