Mazdas from the cx3 up are really on the cusp of making the whole brand premium but somehow they seem to forget the 2 and it lags behind massively. I think the cx3 looks better than an Audi q2. Mazda could get the 2 up to the same standard as the audi a1 if they really tried with the model.
I have a 2019 model but i cannot believe they didn't make any changes with practicality. Ok it's not that bad, but c'mon. They removed cd player but didn't make any space for phone sunglasses or whatever. Back doors no bottle holders, no usb. Boot same size, back seat same size. Aaah.. I know the tech is great and engine is great but.. ah.. Did they change bad paint at least?? You can check it by pressing your finger nail on it. Last models have thin paint. Heard they make better drive comfort and sound tho. Did they made better rubber around the windows, decorative plastic in the rearview side mirrors, on rear windows? is the plastic underneath the front wipers tighter?is the interior of the roof more rigid?did they protect the back camera? So many things man so many 😄
With facelifts it is really difficult to alter the hard points but I agree that they could have done more about USB ports and the like. At least there’s a fast-charging USB port now to power the standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
"He speaks in a strange way for an american, but he doesn't sound like a british", then I discovered you are australian. I always forget about you, guys
Only facelifted but price increased by thousands of dollars. Really dumb strategy. I was wanting to buy one, but they would have to sell me one driveway at $1000 under list price, or no deal. Mazda Australia has lost the plot.
I was looking at getting a Mazda 2, heard about the new generation coming out so thought i would wait. Now knowing that the price is going up by $5k for basically no real improvements, i will either be looking for an end of gen model now, or going elsewhere, what a rip off!
they just removed the base model, so the price is compared to the pre facelift with the same spec not much more expensive. seriously nobody buys a base model.

Ok, so the manufacturers still think we're dumb idiots and will fall for this cheap trick, so be it, but the reviewers should know better and just give the rounded price. BTW, speaking of business sense, new cars are pretty much never sold at list price, so it is very likely that if the list prices were rounded to start off, the seller could benefit because even a small discount would feel more significant to the customer. Had a good chuckle, thanks. We're on the same page about a few of those points. I'd just point out that they finally pulled their finger out with the NVH on the CX-9, CX-5 update and 6 facelift. New 3 is alright, too. Will have to give the facelift 2 a proper road test and see whether the doors are now, ah, fixed in place.
In today's episode, John checks out the 2020 Mazda 2, which has been revised in a number of ways for the coming year.

You can buy one 7 days a week but if
It breaks down on a weekend you will have to wait till Monday till get it fixed under warranty
Can’t remember the last time I saw a broken down Mazda 2 though

The difference between the neo and maxx wasnt $5k though, it was only like $2-3k.
Its no longer a competitively affordable car of its class.

Huh? A touch screen? That's an odd addition. Also, that front badge sticks out like a sore thumb.
Good overview of the car though.
The pre-facelift car did have a touchscreen on higher variants, but it never had the CarPlay integration this one has. Thanks for the feedback!
Bit disappointed by this facelift Mazda. The front end looks less sharp, sporty and somehow less cheeky than the pre facelift.

So the top spec starts at 26k, entry level - at 30k, and from there, the mid-spec is a little more expensive at 25k. Ooooo k...
