One of the most famous WWE moments is when Stone Cold Steve Austin and Booker T fought in a supermarket on SmackDown. I sat down with Booker T at@RealityOfWrestlingto share the inside secrets and behind-the-scenes of this iconic WWE moment.

BFT you had some of the homies on the show!!! You can't say good friend and not have them on the show. Good job Mave
loved how you cut to the sponsor promo and back! great work
Would love to see you and Undertaker together talking about the whole royal rumble spot from the elimination up to the popcorn machine.
Are you and Booker related?
you and booker have the same surname
This is EXACTLY what you should be doing. Doing these deep dives with veterans.
Yesssssss
YEP!
Beginning of some very interesting episodes
Absolutely. Loved this interview and walkthrough. Amazing!
well not really. as much as this was great I dont think Maven needs to be told what to do EXACTLY :D his videos get hundreds of thousands of views
This segment wouldn't have been nearly as good without Booker T selling it so well. Booker T is one of the all time greats!
Bro looks in great shape still
Yeah and his absolute willingness to be made to look like a fool is another reason he was one of the best WCW guys to come over.
Yup! Imagining this without Stone Cold or Booker doesn’t feel right
I was a fan of Harlem Heat as a kid and I really enjoyed Booker's solo career. Legendary catchphrases, great entrance music, he was always fantastic, WCW, WWE, TNA, in the ring, commentary, whatever.
His athleticism and his physical comedy was always so good
I respect that Booker knew he had to humble himself and let Steve have the spot. A true professional.
Accurate
Booker was always that humble tbh
Real dedication
he was a real good sport about this, major respect, he cemented the popularity of Stone Cold with this, a great segment, i was in awe as a young teen watching this.
A thing to think about was that Booker was still treated like a bit of a WCW afterthought by this point. Vince went out of his way to bury the memory of his competition and booker despite being awesome was still the guy the Rock "Who the hell are you" to which also made Sting say "Nope I aint going there. This was such a memorable feud it helped rebuild Booker leading to him being a World Champ again and is generally considered to be Stone Colds last truly great moment
@@TrollCapAmericaHe had plenty of push, but he was rarely anyone's favorite.
The Hulk Hogan segment, the Supermarket segment, the Shockmaster, the Goldust segments.............Booker T is truly involved with some of the most memorable stuff ever
I always felt bad for the janitors and the stocking crew after this segment was done 😂
Yeah me too 😆
I really hope they got paid a ton more for this.
I’m sure they got paid well
@@matthewwalker9205 the store probably did, definitely not the workers 😂
@@jakecarnez233 lol ❤
“Price check on the jackass!”😂
I’ve been saying that for 20 yrs now it’s too funny
1000 percent classic
Based Line😂
Best line, in my view hahaha
To me, it's the best part of the whole segment
I’m really amazed as to how someone that didn’t have 10% of undertakers or stone colds popularity is beating them in YT views and engagement. This is actually super impressive.
Content brother
Stuff that's made up of dreams brother!
I think Maven is younger and can touch on the digital generation better. The wrestlers that were highly popular like Austin and Taker are the interviewed because of the generation they come from, imo anyways. I know my grandma and even my mom and dad had "ass whoppin" parents if you stayed out after curfew. I think Maven would understand, which I don't know personally, but can imagine, the youth that needs to get an ass whoppin to get outside lol. Imo, Content shows and expert use of the digital platforms so far. Thrilled to see a guy I watched growing up gain traction in the digital age. Cuz it's rough.
what?
Maven just has a good personality for youtube. He's a good presenter and story teller.
That kick from Booker T remains the most beautifulest Super Kick in wrassling history.
Idk that HBK to Shelton is still the most beautiful kick I've seen.

Stone cold singing "When the moon hit's your eye, like a big pizza pie, that's amore!" whilst smacking Booker with a chilled pizza was the funniest!
If I was Booker, I would probably start laughing while getting my ass whooped
WWE removes that part pretty often. I think it's a copyright thing. It's a shame cause it's my favorite part
@@JPgene_ Yeah its from a Dean Martin song- makes sense
It's a shame that that clip of Austin singing often gets removed due to copyright. Fortunately, you can find the full supermarket fight, with the song, on social media.
Fun fact, Vince paid the owner for that segment in addition to an amount that allowed him to retire! I think it closed a few years later.
Stone Cold stated this place did close a few years later
Sheesh wouldn’t they have to pay the owner for its airtime on tv too?
Do you smell what Stone Cold is cooking
I'll give Vince an olive branch for this one. Damn good thing he did back then 👍
F***ing love Booker T. Absolute class act. Feels like you’re his best friend without ever meeting him. As soon as you see or hear booker T, his entrance music plays in your head haha.
Yeeeessss to all of this, song playing in my head as I type 😂 Pure class act is right, funny as hell, great in the ring and on the mic he would have me in stitches constantly.
CAN YOU DIG IT
@@brettd7923 Suuucckkaaaaaa
Except when he tries stirring shit up with stories about things that didn't happen.

Booker T was definitely a top performer in that era.
Bookers "Awhhh i'ma getchu" is brilliant
For whatever reason that's what I remember most out of all the improved dialog

Can you time stamp it?
@@chubbychuckle12:41
Rewatching this, that cracked me up.
In a profession where the uninitiated call it fake, Booker T is one of the realest motherfuckers in the game.
💯 no bread, no water, just meat.
No one says it's fake. They say it's scripted and predetermined and they would be correct
@@Jay-og4yb "No one says it's fake." ??? Are you new, Jay?
@Jay-og4yb we fans WISH they understood that...but the people who hate wrestling often say it is fake...
It IS fake. That's what makes it even more impressive. Those guys are built like superheroes, are freakish athletes and still manage not to actually hurt each other. It's even harder for them not to break character. Even here, it's grown men roughhousing and Booker is having a hard time not laughing his ass off.
It's fake fighting but it's real performing.
I am born & raised in Bakersfield. Green Frog was a cute local grocery store but doesn't exist anymore. Was really popular back when it was around. Bakersfield doesn't have many things to be proud of, but I constantly think of this fight. So many good lines and moments. Thanks Maven for the breakdown with Booker!! Always solid content
Booker T comes across as a cool dude. Loved how he enjoyed being the heel and taking an entertaining beating. If I were a pro wrestler, that would be my golden moment.
After the grocery store when Booker runs into the Church and hides in the confession booth and Stone Cold was on the other side that was brilliant and hilarious.
I'm guessing they don't want to go there because it might offend some religious sensibilities. It never seems to be brought up even though it was definitely funny too with Booker playing bingo and listening to a titillating confession.
That happened before this on that weeks episode of RAW. This happened on Smackdown where Stone Cold finally caught Booker and this classic happened.
@@cactusjack2264 Nice memory, I couldn't remember which was first. Brilliant writing.
@@50shadesofgday64 yeah, he actually got away with some church women on RAW and Stone Cold didn’t want to attack him because of it, then Booker decided to stop by a grocery store (cause he was “hungrier than a mug” 🤣😂🤣) and Stone Cold caught him lackin on Smackdown at the supermarket here
When Booker was in the confessional and told that woman who had cheated on her husband to send him the video tape 😂😂
One of the most iconic & funniest segments of all time.
It’s arguably the FUNNIEST segment in the history of WWE
Ikr
I think it was funnier when Stone Cold was beating Booker T down the stairs in the arena. Can't remember if it was Raw.
Much respect to “King” Booker T. it’s crazy seeing all the guys i grew up watching get old, that’s life though man 😢 Thanks for the many enjoyable matches you performed for me when i was a kid.
a living Legend Booker T!!!
That was my childhood! I'm 35 now. Good times good times! 👏👏
Same Age now and the Attitude Era was one of my favorites 😊
What would be the most funniest thing of the whole interview is to have stone cold with Booker t explaining the fight at the grocery store. It would be priceless 😂😂😂😂😂
Or have Stone Cold have an appearance here 😂
This is one of the greatest spots ever on the Monday Night Wars. I'm including matches in that too. From start to end, this was sheer brilliance on display from both of them.
THE greatest segment in wrestling history. Never gets old.
It was. But, honestly, the Booker T & Stone Cold program should've been much bigger. They could've had a big feud that spanned a few PPVs. I hate how WWE minimized Booker T along with a lot of other WCW talent that came over.
Not even wrestling
@@elhajjmalikel6266it was funny while it lasted and put Stone Cold back in good graces with the fans as a face again after the heel turn(and whole two man Power Trip/ Invasion angle)
Just media in general..all done In one take
What an absolute honor it must be to sit down with one of the greatest of the 2000s. Booker must have been so happy.
😂😂😂
Wwe needs to bring this kind of segments back
Nope, They're gonna get arrested
That was a amazing segment between Booker t and Stone cold Steve Austin I'm still watching it to this day great work 😁
Booker T was a great worker and doesn’t get enough credit for it. This happened at a period of time when the war with WCW was over and a new era was going to begin in 2002. The ruthless aggression era wouldn’t have been what it was without guys like Booker T.
Bro is a hall of famer dog..
@@AmusedRyan - Yeah, Book was more than just a worker. Lol
He's a 2x Hall Of Famer. I would say thats already more than enough credit right their.
I worked night crew at a supermarket when this segment aired. We used to quote it all the time. I even remember a couple of guys paging "Price check on a jackass" late at night when no customers were in the store.
This and Jericho’s “Man of 1004 holds,” promo will forever be the reasons I fell in love with professional wrestling.
Booker T is such a legend
Damn Maven, you already have my favorite former wrestler podcast and now you’re doing stuff like this to improve it. So much credit to you and your partner. You guys got a great game plan that you are working out. Thanks for the great shows, I look forward to your new videos every time I get a UA-cam notification.

Out of all the WWE moments I could think of involving Stone Cold, this is probably my favorite one. I remember watching this live as a teen and laughing nonstop during the whole segment. I remember wishing I had recorded it on the VHS player after it aired!
Close second for me is when he hit Vince square in the dome with the bed pan.

The way booker looks at the game is why he was so respected. Puts people on when he needed to and beat people's ass when needed😊
THANKS for showing this as this was and will be a CLASSIC! You need to do more of these!
I remember Booker T writing me back on MySpace way back in the day regarding his promotion he runs in Texas, nice that you got him on!
Why didn't you pursue it
@@SkylerDouglas I actually was only writing him to compliment him on the footage that I had saw online. It felt very cool and I appreciated the wrestlers there were showcasing. I was shocked when he responded but it's a core memory for me since he did lol. That and during Maven's Livestream one time I got him to laugh by saying "Do you smell what the Mave is cooking?". Also met a ton of Indy wrestlers that went on to be successful such as Larry D in Impact. I even worked with Larry D's tag team partner IRL. But yeah Booker T was technically the first wrestler I ever interacted with so it's stuck in my head for the kindness he returned. Got on a tangent there sorry
@@MemeNess That is just lovely, thanks for sharing! Wish I got to experience MySpace
@@aaronhurst4379 it might be the nostalgia talking but it really was simpler times at least for me. Glad I could share a cool story for everyone though thank you so much

I’m so happy to see you telling stories and discussing iconic moments with superstars. This is by far my favorite wrestling UA-cam channel. Keep up the good work, Maven!
Seeing you guys go over this clip brings such a big smile to my face and at the same gives me this huge sentimental feeling of sorrow that it won't ever be like this again... thanks for the memories!

This fight was epic and one of the highlights of the attitude era. Thanks for bringing this BTS moment Maven and Booker. Seeing Booker have soo much fun talking about this was pretty damn awesome. ✌️✌️
Booker's the man! The bingo/church segment was also gold.
ALL HAIL KING BOOKAAAAAH

Teddy Long: Batista tonight you'll be facing off against *"King Bookaah"* in strong ebonic accent!
My Favorite gimmick! When I had long quit wrestling, I heard about King Booker and that brought me back lol. So so good!
King Black Snow is the crossover we need.
Gimmick switching is stupid. When you're known for your personality for over a decade you don't change it..... Undertaker is pretty much the only guy who did it successfully with the whole biker thing.
one of the Greatst moments in Smackdown History
I remember watching this on TV as a kid and I just lost my shit. This was the best wwe era.
Thank you so much for this video, Maven! Booker T is one of my All Time and I miss seeing him.
Growing up I didn't feel like Maven really got his time to shine in the WWE - this channel completely changes that. I'm addicted to this man's videos. So well spoken and so easy to follow that a 12 minute video just flies right by. Would love to see more videos like this one!
Dude I agree 100%! This is great content, glad I stumbled across it as well.
I subbed to this channel when he had 2k subs. Now he has 300k.... what a freaking journey!
I was around 6K.
Absolutely amazing content, Maven!! Saw you on Booker's podcast. Glad to you this awesome collab happen as well
I remember this it was filmed in my current hometown, it's now a Dollar General but it's amazing when big names like these come to your city and create iconic moments like this. I didn't get to witness this as I didn't shop there often but It will go down in the books a classic moment in wrestling
One of the best segments ever, Booker and Stone Cold worked so well together, need more things like this back in WWE "Price check on Jackass!"
When I first saw Maven had a youtube channel I didnt think Id like it. One of the best wrestling channels on youtube there is. Has great variety, and vids like this just make it even better. Booker Ts just comes across as such a personable person.
You get rewarded for keeping an open mind… I guess we all do!
The look on Stone Cold's face when he stood behind Booker and cracked that beer-- it gets me every time!
This was EPIC Maven, thank you.

Book and Steve really put on a show. There's a reason they are both considered legends!
Great content, Mave.

That’s why I miss the old wrestling. WWE will never be the same like that. Even Booker T charisma is on the roof back in the day.
Thanks for sharing the Amazing Behind The Scenes Story of the Legendary Grocery Story Segment from WWE. It’s One of My All Time Favorite WWE Moments!
Both Booker T & Stone Cold Steve Austin were My Childhood Heroes growing up while watching RAW & SMACKDOWN as they truly delivered Timeless Moments that have inspired many to eventually achieve any possible dreams/goals in life.

Also, Maven, this is fantastic and I’m excited to see who you hang out with next. This channel just doesn’t disappoint.
I hope it's Nidia... people have been begging for a Tough enough reunion for a while.
Everything about this whole segment and everything leading up to it was absolutely money. The supermarket brawl always gets talked about a lot, but what doesn’t get talked about enough in my opinion and what makes it so perfect in my opinion is everything leading up to it. The bingo segment, and the church segment, booker T traveling with the nuns trying to escape Austin and this being the payoff is literally the perfect way to end it 😂.
