My grandfather worked for McCulloch back in the late 60s as a welder. He'd never run a Heli-arc, so when the boss walked away after showing him to his work station, he flagged the janitor over and asked him "Just what the heck am I looking at here?". Grandad said the guy taught him how to run a TIG welder in about 10 minutes. Apparently that janitor was kind of a mechanical genius that kept the entire Lake Havasu City operation running from behind the scenes.
Just spent the day helping my friend , a grissled ole 71 yr old Retired Marine work on a few of his Power Saws. ( It started with me bringing him my reborn McCulloch 1-42 to check out ) . So he's had multiple Shoulder , Neck and Back surgeries and was having issues starting his MS290 , said it was "locking up" , found that if the pull rope was fully in AND the piston was right before TDC it was difficult , showed him to ease it past TDC and easey peasey. Long long story short , I ended up getting his Stihl 038 running/cutting , .....and his 039........and his Poulan Wild Thing.....then he said he had one he gave up on over a decade ago , a Pro Mac 610 , he said if I couldn't get it running I could have it !! ( A dishonest person could have left the switch off and had a free Saw ) Dumped the stinky gas out , put in fresh fuel , removed the cover and filter , a few squirts from my squirt can and a few pulls later and it was running and idling , the reward for me was greater than Diamonds or Gold , it was the smile on his face and the pat on the back from the ole Sargent Major. Thanks to this channel I was able to get my ole friends 1st Power Saw back up and running. Priceless. Love to Buckin and all of you in the Buckin Army. So I'll finish by adding a new " Be" to my closing . BE SAFE , BE KIND , BE HONEST.
There are two with that opinion Buckin! Nothing better than the grunt of a 125 as well as a mildly ported 1-76 or 797. Especially when they hit that sweet spot in the powerband where they just outright dig. I would love to see an 090 against a 125 as long as the wind vane governor on the 090 is removed or disabled. I came across an old 070 first years ago and boy it's no joke that they will abuse your hands due to the solid mount versions. I fell in love with McCullochs but the old 090 has a special place in my heart as it was my first big saw after the 076 and I can remember my other saws just sitting because that's all I wanted to run. A very loud crackle from the muffler and pure happiness. Thanks for sharing these old saws with us, I still get excited even if I'm not running the powersaw!
Been watching Buckin Billy for a few years now on and off. Finally took some time to subscribe and I will be listening to tutorials when I’m on the road at least. Good words here, all good words. My ancestors granary has about 30 McCullochs with other signage and what not. Daddy & I have dropped our own firewood since 1971 when I turned six. All McCullochs.
Oh my goodness that saw is a rocker buddy. So much power in a yellow package I love it. I wood probably not be able to put it down. Thank you Buckin. Keepin the dream alive. Love ya Brother. 🌲❤🌲✊🪓

Would love to have one of those bad boys. I have a Super 797, unbelievable power as you say, and your ear to ear grin doesn't let you notice how bad the vibes are, until you put it down. Great videos, as always, my friend.
BR, you were looking pretty comfy there with your arm around that 125, filing the chain. The smile on your face makes me think you could sit with your arm around that big saw all day!
Love the intro The harmonica warble is as good as a fine running Mac 125 The Woodman is another step closer to teaching me more about Mac power saws than i ever wanted to know. I'm astounded, astonished and overwhelmed but appreciative and grateful. Be safe Be kind Be honest Stay strong
I usually set my saws up a little rich, because I do not like to replace pistons and cylinders. Mine may not thump when they sit on a work bench, but the light, stay lit and re-light - my three requirements for a good saw. The best saw is one that will work all day in different types of wood and is as sharp in the afternoon as it was in the morning. My Ms 440 is that way. My MS 360 would get this tag but it likes to find its way into dirt at some time or the other, even though it only has a 20 inch bar and the 440 has a 24 inch bar. Buckin, you ain’t no BJ Thomas.
Oh so lovely! Thanks for another Mac video can’t get enough of them! Wishing you and your family good health and take care Buckin! Big Al (me/dad) and Emerson (son aka Big Easy) sending good vibes your way sir. We can’t get enough of your channel!!!
Buckin is definitely correct about the 090 .....pure bone rattler. Personally haven't had to run any MAC bigger than my Super pro 1010. I have run the 3120XP which is awesome and a few MS880s both running 404 skip and haven't found anything they can't cut even with a 47" bar. Also regularly run a 288, partner 70cc , Poulan Pro 405 and a few Homelites.....customers love seeing the old saws in action.......125 huh? Will have to keep my eyes open for one of these beauties. Love the bottom end torque on the oldies.
The awesome MAC 125 SP. A saw you could strap to a dirt bike frame, ride it into the bush , slap a 32" bar on her and go to work. Then ride her out the 1/2 mile to the truck. I saw the video where the kid had tried this on a mini bike. Too cool an idea for someone not to try it.
Would love to see the time difference between the stihl 075 you ran the other day and this 125! I know the Mac should win but you never know. They have the same diameter piston but the Mac has a 4mm longer stroke. In wood this size I wonder how noticeable that would actually be? Edit: I just compared the cut times between the two saws in the two videos, the 075 was faster? Would love to see a head to head! 075 was around 25 second cut average the Mac 125 was around 30 second average.
I so want to get my hands on a Mac 125 but alas at £5000 a pop I think this is as close as I will ever get 😢 but also thanks for sharing her in such an intimate way brother 😎✌️
Well buckin I tried to get into the McCulloch Game. I got burned on two saws that were too far gone for me to repair. Sold them for a loss. I hope to find one in good enough condition one day. Especially a 125
I love those XL 125 there's 125cc chainsaw they were wonderful that would kill to have them color 125CC they were an awesome chainsaw I got to tell you and you working on that one a lot of fun to watch and this is the day out of my heart surgery and I can't even start my own chain so but I sure want to enjoy watching this 888 it's on my bench in there that I can't do anything with right now just got it I've never even started it yet I got a 38 inch bar on it hopefully one of these days we'll get to use but we enjoy your show it's fantastic very positive it's a very wonderful show I hope you keep the show on forever hope you never have any heart problems like I have you have a great day Billy Ray

Buckin it takes a bit for me to get excited but I sure do listening to that saw !! Holy smokes that thing sounds like you could put a gear shifter on it and just keep rapping it out like a dirt bike or shifter kart !! By far my fav sounding saw you run for sure. Buckin you stay safe and keep on smiling! Scotty boy from Kansas City
Loved the video Buckin , I just recently got a husqvarna 562xp with a 28" bar 3/8 after my 10+ year old husqvarna 445 siezed .. i am loving the bigger bar and more powerful saw , i can only imagine the power of a 125cc saw , AWSOME JOB ! LOVE TO ALL

Billy how can I get one of these monsters ?? I am willing to pay for sure. What percentage of MACs have single jet carb ??? Thanks Also, how does this compare to a Remington 990 timber saw Sir ??
Watching your video and having an 090 I think depends what wood you cutting but 090 it's up there and no chainsaw comes close to that torque, what 090 lacks in stroke mekes up in piston size and lets not forget 090 has governor and slows it down to protect the cylinder fact that McCulloch guys didn't think about. I would like to have an 1 to 1 to sort the debacle .

I have heard from an old timer that the fastest saw was when they put the 101b engine in one of these SP125's.
