Heck yeah man, yeah it is pretty crazy how little they have changed really 😁

Lol...Chainsaw Hoarder! I just thinned my herd of guitars and amps. Fender, Gibson, Marshall guitars, and amps. 52 guitars and 58 amps. Collected and played since 1979. Have a great Easter Sunday. He is Risen! Blessings, my friend!
That guy with the tile saw is probably thinking the same thing about you Dan; “that guy with the chainsaws”. But that’s ok, we all have what we love and what we despise. The trick is to like what we love and hold it dear while keeping what we despise distant from us but not so distant that we can’t learn. Albeit learn how to love and use or learn to dislike even MORE. That’s just human nature.
Awesome collection! I love the 70s pioneer saws. I’ve got a newer stihl 461 and I find myself using my old p50 or p61 more. Something about the old Reed valve muscle saws, so much fun to use.
Great video absolutely enjoyed it bud... thank you. You have an amazing collection of vintage saws some that brought back old memories. I was raised around chainsaws as my family did a lot of felling. My folks used the saws to cut pulpwood when money got tight... we could make a few dollars. I started using saws at the early age of 10 bucking and at 12 I was using them on my own felling the smaller trees. When my friends were playing with Tonka trucks, I was running saws lol. I’m glad I got to see some of the saws of the 50's and 60’s in use, but I was too young to handle most of those. We ran mostly McCulloch saws with bow bars that could be very dangerous (kickback) unless you knew how to use them. It's something that gets in your blood, and you can’t shake it. Now at 65 I still enjoy running saws, felling trees, and milling lumber with them. I don’t have any vintage saws, but I do own 5 that I use regularly from 42cc to 92cc. Again... great video thank you for taking the time to put this out.
Durning WWII my dad was a teen- a local boat building factory(Larson Boats, Little Falls, Minnesota) turned in to a crate builder for the government- his friends dad had a 1 1/2 ton '35 Chevrolet truck, flatbed- they delivered and set tombstones, and also did logging- they had a chain saw but it could only be used for bucking- they'd cut down trees with a two man saw and axes, load the flat bed with cant hooks- there were three of them (all teen agers) but only room for two in the cab, one guy had to ride the load of logs and it was cold, and rough!
Thanks Dan, good tour. I hope one day you get up to Grand Forks BC and check out Son Ranch’s private Logging Museum. It’s a great family operation with tons of saws and related stuff. Great family too! Take care. 😎👍
Sono delle seghe bellissime, una collezione molto entusiasmante, il suono del due tempi è favoloso, in quelle di 50 anni molto di più, anche io ne posseggo circa 20 però solo Jonsereds, grazie per averle fatte vedere 😍
Great video Dan and thanks to show us your treasures.. Want to add 2 things: The S10 was only made from 67 to 73. The 08 was made for long time however. Your 051 is a pretty early one judging from the style of the air filter cover and the muffler guard. I'd date it not later than 1975. In a am earlier comment I explained how to check it. Best wishes and great to see your in better mood.. Marco
Cool video... it is neat seeing these old saws. Used a few of them in anger back in day... only really have a little Husqvarna 51 similar to yours left any more. Thanks for posting....
That was an awesome history lesson. What a beautiful collection. I have 12 saws. Most are modern professional saws but ive just acquired 3 vintage saws from the 60s, 70s, and 80s... 2 HomeLites and a Stihl. I can see how it becomes addictive. I have 55 guitars. Im "hoping" chainsaws dont get as carried away for me :) thanks for sharing
Love them old saws. If run into old 900 series homelite I like to find one. Think from last 50 to early 60. Nice collection look forward to seeing more videos
We had a Mall saw at the ranch when I was a boy. Gear driven, I think, with the necessity of turning the bar when felling. It was okay for bucking big log butts, that sort of thing, but a real mankiller. It was the first chainsaw I ever ran.
A 95 year old neighbor had a Mall gear driven saw and he told me that if he hung the chain up in the cut the rivets would pull out of the chain. Lots of torque. He had to give up logging from the vibration that caused arm and hand issues. I guess Emil Lerp invented the gasoline powered saw and named it Dolmar. I understand the first direct drive saw was the Solo Rex in the 1950‘s? Great video! Love the sounds, even the tile saw!👍
Awesome video! You got some sweet old saws. Crazy to think you news saw is older then my oldest saw 😂😂 my oldest saw is a stihl 044. I think that's a early 90s saw. My newest saw is a 562xp. But my favorite is my 372xp that I built and ported myself. That's my go to saw.
How insane is it that a new 50cc saw will all day eat an old old 100cc saw lol even my old mid 60s 54cc pioneer 1110 won't touch my lil 42cc crapsman with nothing but a muffler mod 😂 great video! Take care of yourself and have a good one
cool video. I have a '75 homelite super 2, a husky 55 rancher and a 372xp. they all get used. I make sure I rotate the super 2 in the mix as its a fantastic little saw for around the yard.
An excellent book about chainsaw history is "Chainsaws, a History", by David Lee. Lots of information, lots of great photos, the majority of which come from one collection near Seattle. Fun fact, the longest commercially-available bar was 21 FEET LONG.
Cool video. Love this kind of history about saws. McCulloch was a pioneer in chainsaws. The story of that company and Havasu is really interesting. Was great to meet ya at Tazapalooza. Love your saw collection!
I really like the look of that Titan saw. It's weird to imagine guys were running those monsters when I was born. The only vintage saw I have us a Jonsereds 49SP which I need to get running. My other saw is a 1998 Husqvarna 261.
Enjoyed the video. On a personal note I scored a few more chainsaws to add to my hoard at a Auction Saturday. Two are model 61 Poulan's I even got one to run a bit on a prime. We have video on our channel.
Hi there Dan! Really enjoyed this video! First time here dropping by your channel and subscribed right away! Great discussion through the time line of saws, really well done an nice to see them all right there as well! I’ll definitely be having a watch at some of your previous videos! Thanks again Dan and nice meeting you 🤝. Take care! Andrew from NB, Canada :)
Me and my brother was in the country at my aunt and uncles old house and came across my uncle's old chainsaws sitting outside in a old shed my cousin gave them to us and one is a Mac 10 10 automatic and the other is a pioneer farm saw 11 Both chain rusted to the bar and the Mac 10 10 automatic has a bow blade 13_18286 serial number and 600002U model is the numbers on the tag between the carburetor and the handle how can I find the yesr it was manufactured do has points ignition hot the pioneer chainsaw running but the Mac 10 10 no spark plug wire bed and coil has a lot of cracks on it . Thanks I enjoyed your video
Hey Dan. You're looking great and seem to be doing well. I notice you have an anchor tattoo on your ring finger, I do also. Anyways, I am in need of a recoil assembly for a Kioritz 315. If you have one to spare, let me know, and maybe we can work out something.
The diafram carburetor for the chainsaw was invented by Danarm in England the first stile of what we have today .The jonsonrad 70cc that you have will out perform any thing came after it
Dan, I have a strunk 3-19 that i restored about a year ago and am trying again to make it run. Wondering about carb adjustments. It ran before and think the carb adjustment is just out of wack. Rebuilt and new carb kit. Wonder if you could help on top screw adjustment and main jet or the process you use.Thank you for the great videos and knowledge you share. Dave H.
Hey David, thanks for thr kind words..try turning both jets in all the way then back them out about 1 1/2 turns, should be a good starting point...if it still won't run try squirting some mix fuel down the carb and pull it over with throttle wide open, if it doesn't want to run maybe ignition problems? Good luck man 😊
Hey their. I’m into collecting 2 man chainsaws . Also started a UA-cam channel. Can I get a close up picture on that 211 helper handle .that’s definitely different. Thanks
He’s got a so cal shirt on if so won’t be long he’ll be moving to East Tennessee like everyone else. Then he can also have a nice gun collection. I have a antique shop today was Black Friday 60% or more of my customers today were California refugees!
I’ve always been led to believe Pioneer is (was) for the Canadian market? My family never used anything except homies an McCullough back when in central Washington state.
Before man invented the steel axe and the hand saw , I'm pretty sure the used some kind of dinobeaver powered saw. Can't remember for sure, it's been years since I watched The Flintstones.
DON'T YOU DARE DISPARAGE MY CRAPSMAN HOMO(wner) SAW!!!!!! I LOVE THAT LITTLE TOY!!!!! JK, you were working on a little 009 Stihl in a video and I used it for reference to fix a couple 011s. I have a little craftsman saw that is either a McCullough or Poulan that someone gave me and it's a nice little one hand brush saw. Then I have a homelite xl98 demo saw on deck, and an Eager Beaver that I'll get running just for the challenge. Your videos are not only informative but interesting so please pump them out. Some diagnostic videos would be really helpful if you find the time to make one, maybe go over common problems and how to find/fix them, maybe even some more advanced tricks like spraying heavily soaped water around the crank seals on a boggy saw to see if it has blowby or is sucking air, leaving a (lean?) condition
I used my grate uncle home owner homelight 40 cc 16 inch bar year 1882 age 13 the only thing was the lack of exust made me def but we cut big tractor trailer loads of trees with that small 40cc then in year 1984 age 15 my uncle bought a new Johnson sp 49 I has too pull start it for my age 73 old grate uncle
I already had an obsession with early small engine stuff from the 50s-70s and this video has made it worse lol. The PM310 i have has already been described as far too dangerous by people around me so i dread what they would think of something from the mid 50s
Love my 50 year old Partner. Fast cutter easy starter. So advanced chainsaws haven't changed much since.

When I see those Poulan saws I can't stop think of Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
That was a Homelite saw in the movie. Possibly an XL-12?

Hey Dan. You're looking great and seem to be doing well. I notice you have an anchor tattoo on your ring finger, I do also. Anyways, I am in need of a recoil assembly for a Kioritz 315. If you have one to spare, let me know, and maybe we can work out something.
Hey man, yeah that Anchor is supposed to be our wedding ring🙄 Anyway, don't have any spare Echo parts, Sorry man😊
The diafram carburetor for the chainsaw was invented by Danarm in England the first stile of what we have today .The jonsonrad 70cc that you have will out perform any thing came after it

K Jeff...I'll try to put up a picture fir you😊
Great to see ya again! I’ve heard keeping them old magnesium bodied saws on concrete will degrade the metal. What’s your experience with that?
Thanks Robbie, Yes it will rot them...I don't store any on Concrete...I've seen a few that have holes clear through the bottom!🙄
Thanks for the video. What type of fuel are you running in those bad boys?
No prob! I use non ethanol 40:1 mix on everything 😊

How much your collection worth?
Hmmm...not sure🤔
Want a 1982 pioneer farmsaw 66cc ?
Man, that would be cool, you can email me at kainkustom@charter.net 😁
