Not even on some nostalgia shit but the league is not in a good spot. We have the most talented stars in history but they treat playing basketball like it’s a chore.
What i would do: Replace the skills challenge with a 1v1 tournament 5mill prize, open to non allstars. All star game cash bonus that decreases with the amount of points you let the other team score. (Lets say the bonus is 5mil and decreases by $50,000 every point you let the other team score over 100) Make a show of it. Have graphics that show the money draining so evryone is aware cos the money isnt the point, pride is. Maybe even let steals and blocks take money from the other team but fouls give it back so it doesnt get overly physical. Tell the coaches to bench lazy players. If you aint trynna play you aint gotta be there, sit on the bench fr. Just my thoughts
Giannis was the only one I looked forward on this game since he somewhat took all-star games seriously but sadly, he dgaf on the defensive end. He had chances to make a highlight block but decided not to smh. Oh yeah, i fell asleep at the start of the 4th lmao. Watching all those 3s and no defense can help one's insomnia i suppose.
The dunk contest is an easy fix. Just let pro dunkers do it and let the NBA players sponsor them. 5 NBA All Stars pick the dunker they want to represent them and they do it like that. Be way more interesting then whatever that that hot garbage was Saturday.
That's a good idea...they got some street ball dunkers in each of the NBA markets that can put on a show let the best NBA dunkers do a round of 32'can put up the pot with half of the money going to the winner and the other half going to charity.
May as well just forget the whole thing and hire some street ballers for the all star game itself at that point. These dudes have no competitive drive anymore. Once they get paid most of them couldn’t care less about the fans
It’s sad to say but there might not be a fix. Not just the all star game but the nba in general, a lot of the players have just lost that love and passion for the game. Back in the 90s all star weekend used to be hype cuz you know MJ is about to try and dunk on someone. Chuck and pippen were in each others faces etc. in the “Kobe” era. he went out his way to mess with Lebron, I just don’t see that stuff happening now. I don’t think it’ll happen ever again
One way I think you get players to care is if you make the MVP more important, then they'd actually try. My idea is that the MVP has their city host the event in the future. I went more in-depth on my channel, but I think that change gets players to care more about the games, the fans to care more about voting, and for non-basketball fans in NBA cities to care more about their teams. BTW, that sweatshirt is crazy
The allstars get a massive bonus for being an allstar. They should take away a portion of the bonus and give the winning team a bigger portion of the $ that is the only way they get these dudes to start playing for real
They make 100 million and the bonus is not anything comparable to that. Let’s not act like the bonuses matter with the exception of all-nba and defensive teams.
They only care about winning championships honestly and it’s most in part them making as much as they do and being scrutinized for not winning championships. However these nba players just don’t care and they are starting to feel super privileged when in fact the ones who are paying to see these athletes suffer yet they do not care at the end of the day. It’s kinda like hip hop stars coming late to concerts that others paid for I think a lot of these big headed people need a reality check fr fr
Sabrina scored 37 last year from the women 3 so I think Kenny was just saying it would of made it more interesting. Because after she got 26 we all knew steph was getting that
Y'all tweakin acting like what Kenny said was SO bad. He basically wanted to see her win, and mentioned her shooting where she's used to shooting from and this sensitive PC world we live in acting like he said she was trash from the 3.
Fr when I first saw the discourse on Twitter, I thought he said something like "she should go back to the kitchen" or something like that. Then I heard what he said and was so confused as to why everyone was so up in arms
There are tons of easy fixes. One would be making the game a halfcourt game and condense the floor even more by only extending the floor about 5 feet behind the 3pt line instead of all the way to the normal halfcourt line. This would make the game more like an irl pickup game. And because the floor is condensed, it makes playing defense easier, and it eliminates players form lollygagging up and down the full court. Another one is to make the game 6 minute quarters for the first 3, then 10 minutes in the 4th. That way they don’t have to spend 36 minutes messing around before they finally get to the last quarter. This speeds through the part of the game that’s not as serious, then let’s them actually give effort for a 10 minute period. Another one is do some type of king of the court instead of the game. One that I think would be cool is scrap the game since they don’t want to do it, and grab some of the best defenders in the league and have them go one on one with some of the best scorers in the league. Rules can be whatever. Maybe 3 or 5 dribble max if they wanted. Defenders only play defense, and scorers only play offense. Scorer doesnt score, defender gets a point, scorer makes a shot he gets a point. Perimeter players face off and bigs face off so that there’s no cross matches like a trae young against nic Claxton.
Yeah, that was the worst All-Star weekend ever there wasn’t no competitiveness. Everybody was there just because they had to be. There was no excitement for this weekend. I remember as a kid, the dunk competition in players actually being competitive to win.
To be fair, here’s what I did during All-Star weekend: Friday: I only watched the Celebrity game. I couldn’t watch the Rising Stars game because TNT decided not to work on many televisions here at NIU, and my television and FuboTV don’t have TNT, either. Saturday: SAME reason why I couldn’t watch All-Star Saturday, including the Steph vs. Sabrina 3-point showdown. Sunday: SAME reason why I had to watch the All-Star game on UA-cam without any footage. The other sites that streamed the game were worthless.
Here’s some solutions for the All Star Weekend Events: Some these events are too complex and need to be simple. Celebrity Game- Get some celebrities that can actually hoop and let them play. Stop tryna get the most popular people that acts like they can play knowing that they can’t. Rising Stars- Be competitive. Just that simple. Skills- Go back to the old format. It was nothing really wrong with it. 3Pt- nothing don’t change it. Dunk Contest- the most difficult thing to change. Superstars don’t wanna do it cuz they’re mad p*ssy and afraid to get embarrassed and losing to someone who not a Star like them. It’s hard to come with a solution. These dudes today afraid of losing and being embarrassed front of millions of people I guess. Shoutout to Jaylen Brown for participating even some of his dunk were boring. All-Star Game- be competitive, yall don’t gotta perform like it’s game 7 but damn show better effort on defense. Yall gonna play harder to make the Olympic team in the summer. No one wanna see 211-186 scores. They might have to make some new events or bring back some old ones.

Contract for EVERY PLAYER is they must attend if chosen and Only transportation is paid for. 😮 1&2 in Competition Get paid along with Winner of the All Star game.💵 This makes ot so that the players are spending 💰 BIG money on something they have to do and only way to get their money 💰 back IS TO WIN!!!!!!!! 😮💲🤔😎😁
There are barely competing in the regular season, so it doesn’t surprise me that they barely even show up at the All-Star game, this is just the current attitude of the NBA, and until the stars affecting the bottom line and viewership in a very dramatic way it’s not gonna change
I love ALL the All-Star weekend stuff, Saturday and Sunday. I'm the only one. I get that. The skills, 3 point, dunk, and even the game with no defense. The commentary was bad, mainly cuz of Kenny.
Combine All-Star weekend with the In-Season tournament. Have the group play be in January and then knockout round in February. Expand all star roster to account for players that play in the championship game of the in season tournament (kinda like how the NFL does the Pro Bowl/SB). All star game should be pickup style, all ones, first 21, best 3 out of 5. Take the entire week off from games for all star , unless you’re a quarterfinalist for the tournament. Those games will start all star week in whatever city it’s in. That way, there is enough time during the week for corporate and sponsor obligations to be met by players. And they’ll all be in one place.
One thing I must give Adam Silver is that he is very much aware commissioner, he does try and alot of his ideas do actually end up being good. Problem with All Star weekend is mostly the players, for example Jokic has this "i dont care" attitude which is cool but for an all star game it just comes off as being lazy
I have spent alot of time thinking about this. Ok lets start with a shift in the schedule. The last games before the break should be on Sunday. So players are going to get Monday -Thursday off. The ASG will still be on the next coming Sunday but then players go to their next cities and prepare to have a game on Tuesday. Celeb game is what it is. But bring back Rookie Soph game, No USA vs the world, no drafting players. Keep it traditional, the best 9 rookies vs the best 9 soph. On Saturday between events have a 10 min performance from a variety of artist throughout the night. I would like to see artist that the kids would get excited for, Drake, Kendrick, Travis, Doja Cat, Billie Eillish. Now for the events. We should stick with 4 events but I think we should have a large pool of events to pick from. So I think we should have Dunk, 3pt, Skillz, but we should also add a 1 vs 1 tourney, and a 20 man game of knockout(5 NBA players, 5 fans, 5 Celebs, and 5 legends) Every year we only play 4 of the 5, each year 1 event will not played. Also for the love of God, let the 3pt contest be the last event of the night.
Move it to after the season. Move the in-season tournament (IST) playoff to where the ASG is now. Give money to all participants and a top 10 guaranteed draft picks to the winner only for the IST. Pay the ASG participants and ensure the location is dope. ASG MVP and defensive player of the game both get cap incentives or an extra mid-level exception for their team. If that doesn't fix it, get rid of it to show how loss will impact their legacy.
The problem stems from the fact that these players view their bodies as assets now. There is no point in trying at the all star game because the most they can get is a pointless trophy/ win with a possibility of injury. I miss when NBA players seemed to play basketball because they enjoyed it, not for business.
Why MJ will always be the goat to me. Would play 82 regular season, put on a show in the all star game and dunk contest. Hell, he put on a show every night he was playing. There was legendary moments watching Jordan’s career, and I don’t think we’ll ever see it again. Man was born to play basketball. Man was an artist out there
The look on Larry’s face while he was watching that dumpster fire said it all i thought he was going to get up and leave which you couldn’t even have blamed him Kobe nailed it when he said they play harder in summer pick up games.
This is just what the NBA is now. Players not playing to prevent injuries. lol. The last game I watched the first 11 shots were 3’s and only 3 were made.
These new dudes just have no heart for the game anymore. They want the fame and status but barely want to compete and play hard. Who cares about your skill when you don't have the effort
This is one of the reasons I haven’t been on board with basketball for a long time. Players are so apathetic with the mega millions they make to be entertainers
Should add a 1:1 king of the hill game, Rookie king of the hill, 3 on 3 half court first to 21, etc etc. The people literally come up with better ideas than the wack ass skils challenge and what they got rn
Only way to save the All Star Game is to add in 1 vs 1 tournaments the Fans get to vote who play each other players got too much money now and how about play for Ego boom send me a check David Stern
Keep: 3pt contest Skills challenge All star game Celebrity game (with good celebs) Add: Buckets AKA 23 3 on 3 mini tournament Allow WNBA players to compete in all events 🤷🏾♂️
Adam Silver needs to implement something of value that could improve the game. I’m not talking bout money either. Something like what people keep saying, the team who wins, their conference gets home court advantage in the finals.
Had not thought about the different 3 point line. That makes her score insane…. She is used to a shorter one - if she played a season with this one, she would likely be even better.
legends like Bird, MJ and so on should be allowed to go into the locker rooms at the allstar game ...or get some of them to coach the team it is a disgrace nowadays, the are literally just GOING UP AND DWON THE FLOOR for 48 minutes
9:39 Imagine a legend like Larry Bird pleading with the players of today to put on show for the fans who paid hard earned money to see these players, and they put in that effort? Unacceptable Kobe Bryant even shared that sentiment. He would be ashamed of the effort today
Here’s an idea for the all star game right since players pay are tied in by how many all nba teams they make the conference that wins the all star game only players from that conference can make the all nba 1st team.
The players nowadays are way more skilled than ever before. They’re so skilled nobody can play defense against them. They’re so skilled nobody wants to watch them jack up 3’s and score 200points then complain about playing 65games minimum. John Stockton played 82 the last four years of his career. Have fun with your league youngsters while you still have one.
Wasn’t you the same one walking spring with the “defense ain’t worse athletes are just bette” flag? What type of product you thought you was gonna get with these low standards? Don’t switch ip now buddy 😂
Hate how fans say this guy should have made it in the All-Star game, but as soon as they make it that player show no effort and now the fans mad I’m just saying
the dunk contest came back last year just to be disappointing again this year, as for the all star game, its never been competitve except for 2020, but i wish instead of the long distance 3s, there was more flashy plays like how it used to be
The Aaron Gordon vs Zach Lavine dunk contest in 2016 was the last great competition I've seen. It's like the players today just don't care about putting on a show
It doesnt even feel like it happened. Thats how low energy the whole thing was. Low energy in the build up & low energy effort...just a very nonexistent moment.
At this point, I think the incentive should be more negative. They should dock the pay, or establish a quota that the players need to meet in order to get paid. These dudes get paid millions. At bare minimum, each player should try to strive for 10 to 15 points, five rebounds, five assists, and then establish bonuses for defensive stats like steals and blocks so that they can try defense. Either that or they just get rid of the All-Star game completely and if the players complain about it, they have no one to blame but themselves. This is supposed to be a game that they are passionate about playing. What other time are you gonna play games with teams this good? However, fans are also to blame. Because they keep making claims that this game doesn’t matter and these players are saving themselves so they don’t get injured. How often do you see a player get injured in this damn game? Even at its height you hardly saw people getting injured in this game. It’s just a copout people like Luka showing little to no effort is a bad look. It’s even worse because people had that team winning the game.
NBA All-Stars already get paid a monetary incentive, members of the winning team get paid $100,000 and players on the losing team are paid $25,000 which is pathetic enough as it is. But the fact that these players are paid generational wealth, and need these incentives just to compete, show effort and give the fans a show is laughable especially considering how much fans pay to watch them or even attend the game.
I'm not sure what to do then. We can't make them care, but we can give them things they want to incentivice them. Maybe another category of supermax to the conference that wins that year
Its just a reflection of the modern NBA. You turn the game on, teams fight to draw fouls instead of fighting to get to the rim. Then they just throw 900 three pointers. Its just boring. NBA has just turned into ping pong, watching the ball just fly back and forth with little strategy.

@@Wrestle_Kingdom It's only for the finals and it would totally work, because playing in the weaker conference would not automatically give you home advantage.
Saw a comment that said any NBA contract incentives involving making All-Star teams should only kick in if you're on thr winning team. It would definitely make it more competitive but players would never agree to it lmao.
Yooo that's a crazy thing and would definitely be worth a try lol. They do get extra coins with them incentives
The fact that the 3pt contest is the most entertaining part of the ASW is a disgrace
Skill! Skill! Skill! That's all what people talk about in this era of basketball. What these players are missing is heart. They're soft! None of these dudes care anymore. Most can't even post up or slide their feet on defense. This batch of ball players are afraid of competition and lack effort. I didn't even watch anything from all star weekend.
Exactly. The most skilled era yet also the most boring era because these guys rarely try.
bro players and coaches makes just the best decision, don't get tired or risk an injury for nothing. In this way they can give their best into the playoffsù
Not even on some nostalgia shit but the league is not in a good spot. We have the most talented stars in history but they treat playing basketball like it’s a chore.
What i would do:
Replace the skills challenge with a 1v1 tournament 5mill prize, open to non allstars.
He’ll the all stars already making 40 50 million a season
It's cool how all the league's and player's deficiencies are because they're "too skilled" now.
I like that idea
The allstars get a massive bonus for being an allstar. They should take away a portion of the bonus and give the winning team a bigger portion of the $ that is the only way they get these dudes to start playing for real
They make 100 million and the bonus is not anything comparable to that. Let’s not act like the bonuses matter with the exception of all-nba and defensive teams.
Kenny Smith w/ the HOF Instigating once again😂
I wanna see LOW at next years Celebrity Game!
💀
So the NON celebrity game?
KD would get on the court just to embarrass him lol
@@Augrills😂😂😂😂😂
Low would make sure they drop 100 and get free nuggies
Nba players know the difference between "taking it easy" and whatever the hell they do in the all-star game. It almost feels like deliberate sabotage.
@@marcusa9503 We done got too soft in this country, everything is controversial now. Smh

Jaylen tried to Dee Brown that dunk. He failed.
I like bringing the best defenders in
Yeah, that was the worst All-Star weekend ever there wasn’t no competitiveness. Everybody was there just because they had to be. There was no excitement for this weekend. I remember as a kid, the dunk competition in players actually being competitive to win.
To be fair, here’s what I did during All-Star weekend:
Friday: I only watched the Celebrity game.
LeBron and Adam Silver ruined the NBA. Bird and Kobe type players that care about the game and the fans don’t exist anymore
TOO COMPLEX?!! 😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣.....🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@JamesASharp 😂 you know what I meant. The skills challenge was way easier before they change it to a completely different format. They mixed in the spot up shooting competition with the skills challenge and it wasn’t necessary.
So your solution is to tell them to be competitive? I’m sure that’ll do the trick
@@Romanus- yeah it’s Adam Silver’s NBA so being competitive ain’t something they’re great at
Rhis is Sad AF too! Growing up, I fuckin loved All Star Weekend! They did MTV Rock & Jock back then too! Players actually cared back then about the Dunk & 3 point Contest & the game itself was always better 🤘🏾🫡
Oh yes, MTVs Rock n Jock Bball Jam was so fun in the 90’s!
@@JWNS08 🫡 My Man! Dope you remember it! No joke, I dug all of the R&J's, Basketball, Football, & Baseball/Softball! This made me think about it so I just threw it in the UA-cam search bar after I commented and they actually have full games uploaded on here! Dope! The more I get older, the more I realize how special that time/era we were fortunate enough to experience truly is! Like undeniably not just my opinions 😏🫡
America vs International they will instantly take that serious lol
We'll get smoked by the world players. Lebron, Steph, and KD are the last of the truly great american players
@@manz7860 Yeah International take pride in their countries and would stomp USA the first time but that might motivate US in the future
This is a great idea
International guys each get custom jerseys with their home countries flag on it. They'd bring it so hard.
Doubt it. Only think American ball players take seriously is the Olympics.
Time to implement AND1 StreetBall rules 😅
A 1V1 tournament. I think that would be the coolest thing to see. 8 players randomly put together and play to 11.
Thank you for saying that there is no problem with them putting in effort . I’m tired of hearing this “why risk injury” because your entire career and stardom relies on people enjoying watching you compete .
What Kenny Smith did believe it or not it was the best thing for the WNBA because now Sabrina and others are going to insist that the WNBA improve their products 1: by giving them an NBA size 🏀 basketball. 2: by using an NBA 3-point line
That won't help bring in new fans at all, they have to lower the rims and that's the one thing these dummies refuse to do
The only thing that was great about it was the lighting. MVP's for all the electricians.
MCCLUNG did a dunk never seen before- judges didn't see it. They shouldn't give scores until after watching video review of dunk angles.
Steph and Sabrina shoot out- good stuff
SIMPLE FIX.... ALL STAR weekend at End of there season. Contract for EVERY PLAYER is they must attend if chosen and Only transportation is paid for. 😮 1&2 in Competition Get paid along with Winner of the All Star game.💵
This makes ot so that the players are spending 💰 BIG money on something they have to do and only way to get their money 💰 back IS TO WIN!!!!!!!!
Sabrina was using a smaller basketball 🏀 🤦♂️
The great thing about the ASG is that because it is guaranteed to be shit, I can go back and watch past all star games.
I'm watching 1987
@@darrengordon-hill Ah I watched 88 last night. Was not disappointed.
This is a pretty good idea
Brilliant idea. Incentives for the players and the teams. It'll make selection the controversy, though.
The All Star Game should determine who plays 4 times at home in the finals.
Players would become competitive.
I've been saying this about the All-Star game and Slam Dunk contest for about 6 years now 😒
This is just what the NBA is now. Players not playing to prevent injuries. lol. The last game I watched the first 11 shots were 3’s and only 3 were made.
These new dudes just have no heart for the game anymore. They want the fame and status but barely want to compete and play hard. Who cares about your skill when you don't have the effort
I hate it because on paper, a team with luka, jokic and lebron sounds like must see tv, yet it was unwatchable
Where are the uploads to the playback channel?
This is one of the reasons I haven’t been on board with basketball for a long time. Players are so apathetic with the mega millions they make to be entertainers
I’m so glad I enjoyed the Sabrina - Steph moment without the TV turned up. 🤣
You know how the AllStar Weekend has fallen if the Three point Duel is the most interesting event in it.
Stern's dead. It's Adam Silver. Who kind of looks dead.
Keep:
3pt contest
Skills challenge
All star game
Celebrity game (with good celebs)
Add:
Buckets AKA 23
3 on 3 mini tournament
Allow WNBA players to compete in all events 🤷🏾♂️
Wtf
Not gonna lie, I rather wait in line at the DMV than watch this All-Star weekend.
There’s no way to change it unfortunately, a lot of embarrassing moments this year
Really it comes down to the players. They aren’t here for the fans anymore, they take days off during the regular seasons.
She did shoot with a smaller ball. Let’s not act like Kenny wasn’t on to something. I will agree, the timing was bad.
What’s crazy is Sabrina would’ve beat anyone but dame or Steph that night I really hope she helped put more eyes on the WNBA

Adam Silver needs to implement something of value that could improve the game. I’m not talking bout money either. Something like what people keep saying, the team who wins, their conference gets home court advantage in the finals.
You could hear a pin drop after silvers “Welllll…”
I didn't watch the game but when i saw the final score i knew something needs to change for next year
Had not thought about the different 3 point line. That makes her score insane…. She is used to a shorter one - if she played a season with this one, she would likely be even better.
If Load management is commonly accepted in the league, I don't see what is so suprising about this... they managed they're load actively
Kenny is literally in multiple iconic all star weekend moments as the annoying voice you here going “no no no he didn’t do it no”
legends like Bird, MJ and so on should be allowed to go into the locker rooms at the allstar game ...or get some of them to coach the team it is a disgrace nowadays, the are literally just GOING UP AND DWON THE FLOOR for 48 minutes
9:39 Imagine a legend like Larry Bird pleading with the players of today to put on show for the fans who paid hard earned money to see these players, and they put in that effort? Unacceptable
Kobe Bryant even shared that sentiment. He would be ashamed of the effort today
Here’s an idea for the all star game right since players pay are tied in by how many all nba teams they make the conference that wins the all star game only players from that conference can make the all nba 1st team.
Steph vs Sabrina was the highlight of the weekend. Man all-star weekend fell off when the wnba is providing the most entertainment
Hate how fans say this guy should have made it in the All-Star game, but as soon as they make it that player show no effort and now the fans mad
I’m just saying
Jaylen brown really thought Dunkin w his left hand would win him the contest
Were they supposed to rig the game so Wemby can play more??
Yup .. that’s kinda what he implied .. see why things are the way they are lol ..

that sweater graphic is crazy.
the dunk contest came back last year just to be disappointing again this year, as for the all star game, its never been competitve except for 2020, but i wish instead of the long distance 3s, there was more flashy plays like how it used to be
The Aaron Gordon vs Zach Lavine dunk contest in 2016 was the last great competition I've seen. It's like the players today just don't care about putting on a show
they better put the globetrotters up there for the dunk contest cause it’s dying quick
It doesnt even feel like it happened. Thats how low energy the whole thing was. Low energy in the build up & low energy effort...just a very nonexistent moment.
Non nba dunkers vs nba would save the dunk contest
We need to put a cash reward for the game winners. Just like the in-season tournament
Where’s the money coming from?
I'm not sure what to do then. We can't make them care, but we can give them things they want to incentivice them. Maybe another category of supermax to the conference that wins that year
something besides a cash prize
Its just a reflection of the modern NBA. You turn the game on, teams fight to draw fouls instead of fighting to get to the rim. Then they just throw 900 three pointers. Its just boring. NBA has just turned into ping pong, watching the ball just fly back and forth with little strategy.
