Heard this for the 1st time, yesterday on BBC Sounds about a session of Johnnie and Tiggy Walker, talking about JW's life expectancy, worth a listen to one of the UK's finest DJ's
I heard that. Looked up this song and Loving You Made Me a Better Man. That was some podcast to be so open about him impending demise. Makes you think!!!
Just to good to be true...a fantastic writer and finger picking melody maker...very fine entertainer...better than most...don't know what else to say...
I love John Prine, and have every one of his albums, and will continue to buy them as long as he is alive. He is a great American treasure. But I wish he would write more love songs like this one. This is a gorgeous song that has innocence, and longing in it, and I can't think of a single song he's written that has this kind of arrangement in it that has that sort of "stop you in your tracks" kind of beauty about it. It's like he was consciously trying that day to create something that would turn people's heads when they heard it the first time.
to my wife Lucy I wish we could see John Prine together this June 15 th together I'll still go Lucy, and I'll probably cry through every song. I miss you Lucy. I hope john Prine can make me smile.
I think John was joking with the interviewer that day, because the bulk of his songs that are written by him are about everything but love. That's why I was mowed down hard by his recording of "All The Way With You."
I don't know why Bob Dylan and Neil Young have been so silent re John's passing...give credit when it's due...those 2 guys have to readjust their egos...

This is a stunning piece of film with a perfect soundtrack. Thank you to whoever it was that put this together. It's enchanting.
Thank you.
Haven't heard this since I saw him in concert in Louisville, Ky in the late '80's (just John and his guitar).
This is what I call "hidden" gold.
Gonna have played at my funeral.Beautiful
Sure wish Mr.Dylan and Mr.Prine would do something together. My two go to's without a doubt
Come back. Don't die, John. We need you!
Another classic by a craftsman artist.
How did I miss this song. My newest best song by John. Thank you to Fiona and the boys. John will live on in infamy.
I just found it as well. Going to learn it now and add it to my set list.

You got it right my friend, but if he done more like this would it still stand out, one of my Prine faves, love the album with Mac Wiseman.
John Prine, once said , "I can't write a song that's not a love song."
but then he tried hard and wrote "some humans ain't human" - proving that he could write a song without love as well!
If you're writing about a lack of love, it's still about love.☺
I've loved him since I discovered him in 1970 and just learning he died tonight is ripping my heart apart.
John is allways (be) good. Beautyyyyy.
Great song.
First time I've heard this by J.P. Very pretty.

My wedding song
Fantastic song
John Prine said, he never wrote a song that wasn't a love song.
I think John was joking with the interviewer that day, because the bulk of his songs that are written by him are about everything but love. That's why I was mowed down hard by his recording of "All The Way With You."
See your point. But I'm standing by Johns comment. God bless.
