Are there any other parts of putting up a backyard zipline you need some help with?

Jeff Smith the science guy! JEFF! JEFF! JEFF! JEFF! All that mathing hurt my head. If we ever get a zip line (we have one on clearance right now at Canadian Tire) I'll just fly you in to install it for us. :)

Haha! I was tempted to get into the weeds about the difference between a 3 percent angle and a 3 degree angle and why you don’t want to confuse the two but ironically it became too confusing.

At first I wasn't sure if you knew what you were talking about....but then you drew out that diagram in crayon and I was convinced that you were an expert on the subject.🤣😂
This is actually really helpful......unless you don't have trees in your backyard.😂🤣

Nothing instills confidence like an oversized crayon with the paper torn off. 🤣 I looked around for a sharpie but Sarah has them locked away so the kids don’t get into them.

@@FunsizedAdventures Completely understandable. Once when I was a child, probably about the age of your younger boys, I was supposed to be napping but instead I got into a permanent marker and wrote all over my brother's face, the pillow case and the shelves in our room.
Crayon was a wise choice....especially since you can't be trusted with markers. LOL

Good stuff! Do you have any thoughts on how a strap / slackline zipline would affect these calculations? Increase the range of safe slope, for example?

      Great question!
Slackline ziplines always have way more stretch to them than wire ziplines. That stretch is going to make it so once the rider’s weight is on it, it will exaggerate the slope more at the beginning but will also exaggerate the uphill slope at the end so you’ll pick up speed faster but then also lose it faster at the end. I have one set up now and I have it at the same amount of slope as my wire zipline and it works well. That stretch does make heavy riders, like me, bottom out in the middle.
      I hope that helps!

You are the zip line expert! If that doesn’t pan out, you can always do art videos 😂
