I’m traveling to Paris in April and was wondering about a hotel, could you give an opinion and or a better recommendation over this hotel, the one I was thinking of was Maison Albar Le Diamond in the 8th
This past October I stayed in Montparnasse which I thoroughly enjoyed. The neighborhood is very convenient with great transportation & easy access to so many attractions that you’ve mentioned as well as Jardin Luxembourg-on a sunny day, a great place for a picnic. I love this channel & appreciate all that you do to introduce us to Paris & the beautiful regions of France. Merci & bonne année Colleen & Antoine!
No.Way. I have been watching your videos for months to prepare for my trip to Paris, tonight is my last night here and just for the heck of it I decided to click on this video, only to see you filmed on the street right outside the window of the place I’m staying. Crazy!
I stayed at the Hôtel Monge that you mentioned in this video. I enjoyed it and the price was reasonable. The concierge was very helpful and recommended La Petite Périgourdine for dinner. Delicious. I would stay there again.
The first time my wife and I were in Paris, we stayed in the 2nd.. It was enjoyable, but we really went out at night. But our second time in Paris, we stayed in the 9th, safe day or night, spectacular location, music, cafés, and a short walk to major attractions.. A third time in Paris, we stayed in the night again, and traveled to the 3rd & 4th to listen to jazz

Thank you again for another great summary of recommended hotels. You always give great advice and recommendations! 😊
I could watch these videos all day and anytime!! Could you add a budget friendly only video? I am curious is there are any safe hotels for around €150, or is that a scam?
Another excellent and insightful overview. In watching it I realized that I've stayed in most of those areas over the 57 years that I've been going to Paris. I tend to prefer the 4th, the Marais. It strikes an excellent balance. In the past few years we've stayed in the 17th, which has a wonderful neighborhood feel but, as you say, is a bit far from things. But no matter -- we would just go around other areas during the day, and enjoy the peace and quiet of the 17th at night. We prefer to rent apartments rather than hotels. That allows us to shop in the local markets and cook dinners in the apartment A leisurely apéritif at a café downstairs, followed by a simple but wonderful dinner 'at home.' That feels truly authentic.
Booking rooms tomorrow for our second trip to Paris in May. Went to book a room in Saint-Germain-des-Prés which is where we stayed last time... It is through the roof as far as cost. This video helps to look for a new neighborhood for this trip! Thank you
Great selection of pros and cons. I think my employer's employee association did an excellent job by booking our group of 150 people in the Ibis in the15th, with the Sunday market on walking distance. The 6th and 7th were on walking/ cycling distance.
Whenever in Paris, I prefer the 17th arrondissement (Quartier des Batignolles) where I stay at an Airbnb. I love how the area has greenery and has one of my favourite boulangeries in Paris known as Boulangerie Baptiste on la Rue des Moines.
Back in the early 80s we would stay in hotels ranging between 6FF & 12FF. The SdB was down the hall but so cheap and not a problem :) 1FF=$0.20 Sort of like the old Volkswagen ad... 4 tires just like a Rolls Royce, etc. Later on we lived in the 16th and still had a good time. Happy holidays.
SHANGRI LA is a five-star hotel that belongs to a Hongkongese group. The minimum price is 1400 euros per night. While this is really a luxury hotel, do you really want to be in an Asian style hotel when you stay in Paris? I think k it's better to have a fully parisian style hotel when you come to Paris, disregarding the price you can afford to pay.
Before my retirement I worked in the hospitality industry; we had some work stays there. The service always was just fantastique and because of this the atmosphere. Paris is an international town, so the house fits very well (I think).
We just stayed in the 5th and enjoyed the location. The apt we were in was located directly between 2 metro stations, so easy to get wherever we were going and only a very short walk to the river near Jardin des Plants and the spots to pick up the Batobus or evening dinner cruise (we tried booking the dinner cruise recommended by Les Frenchies, but availability was too tough to find--we ended up on Diamant and loved it and the fact that we could board in our neighborhood). One thing I would say about the 5th, make sure you're not toooooo close to the hospital on Bd de l'Hopital, you'll hear a lot of ambulance sirens all day long if so.
We stayed at Hotel Le Cardinal in the 9th. It was lovely and had a great boulangerie across the street Maison Landemaine, a Korean fried chicken place and sushi nearby as well. ❤ Edited to add we felt our area was very much like a neighborhood and felt like locals as we walked around and shopped or dined ❤
Love the upgraded video of this series. What they've lost in spontaneity, they make up for with information. (Also love that Antoine has found his accent for French names.) We've stayed in most of these areas and confirm the pros and cons are exactly right. Of the hotels mentioned, Le Pavilion de la Reine in the Marais is our favorite. Honor champagne bar? Mais oui!
Great summary. We stayed in the 9th at the Le Grande for our first Paris visit and loved the location and our hotel. We like to try new things so this guide will be of great help for our next Paris trip. Cheers!!
Sometimes it is as if you read my mind, lol. We were just talking about where to stay during dinner last night. Thank you for this, as always you provide such great information in a clear and understandable way.
We just stayed on the edge of the Marais district in the Bastille area 1/2 block from the foot bridge over the canal! It turned out to be a great area to stay, close enough to metro and attractions but also quiet at night! We had an awesome week with a lot of thanks to Les Frenchies for a lot of their guidance from their video's!
Your suggestions were on the pricy side. We have enjoyed several places in the 12th, especially Hotel du Printemps. For longer stays with a kitchen we have stayed at the Citedines Aparthotel Bastille-Gare de Lyon. Excellent metro and bus connections from 12th to all of Paris.
Thank you very much! I appreciate your efforts to provide good information and sound advice. Common sense and experience taught me to avoid "trendy" and "diverse" areas; they are usually crowded, noisy, and dirty. The last two districts (16th and 17th) look like my cup of tea. All the best for 2025! 🤩😁🤩 Vive la France et vive les Frenchies!
I stayed at Novotel Paris de Eiffel. I believe it was in the 16th district. It was about a half mile walk to the Eiffel Tower. I really enjoyed my stay. My room had a view of the tip of the Eiffel Tower. When I got sick my 2nd day in Paris, and had to stay in, my room had a bathtub. A hot bath felt really good while sick.Plus, since it was just me in the room, I left the bathroom door, and just took in the view. So, even being sick, it was not bad. Yeah, it was far away from most of the attractions, but I was 2 blocks away from a Metro station, and could be anywhere in the city in about 30-45 minutes. Since I was out of commission for about half my time in Paris, I do plan on coming back in the off season. I do have a strange question though. Seeing that map of Paris, made me think...My favorite band is AC/DC. One of the last places Bon Scott performed was the Pavillion de Paris. I have been trying to find out what happened to that building, but all I can find online is that it was closed in 1980. Does that building still stand? If so what is it now? If it was demolished, What was built in its place? Not sure if you guys know, but maybe a local that watches does?
In reality, other than for one's first visit to Paris, where it would be nice to stay in a central and iconic area, it doesn't really matter where you stay on subsequent or extended visits, unless you're rich, because Paris isn't that large compared to say NYC or London, has an excellent public transit system, there are few truly must avoid areas, and is a very walkable city. On my first visit to Paris as an adult (my parents took me when I was 5, which I still fondly remember, but no idea where we stayed), I stayed about as central as it gets, right around the corner from the Place Vendome in the now defunct Hotel de France et Choiseul, but on subsequent visits I stayed further out, and was perfectly fine with it, and even preferred it in some ways beyond saving money. Save your money for food, attractions and purchases.
Thank you, I found this information so helpful. Could you put the names of the hotels in English on the screen as you did for a few of them as well as you did for the pros and cons. I’m having difficulty translating Antoin’s French for the hotel names. It’s not him it’s me. Keep up your good work for those of us dreaming of a trip to Paris.❤
I think you could have talked about the 15th that has nice accommodations and you can have a view of the Eiffel Tower. Especially the MottePiquet and Sèvres Lecourbe areas that are close to many monuments like the Invalides and Ecole Militaire and Champs de Mars. You have also the Beaugrenelle area that is a very vibrant shopping area. Sevre Lecourbe area has very good connection to metro lines 12, 6, 10 and many bus lines. It is not tour far from Le Bon Marché in the 6th.
I agree. We were in Paris October last year and stayed in the 15th at Madrigal and really enjoyed the area. I don't think Les Frenchies, Jay Swanson or any of the Paris touristy youtubers like the 15th though.
Thanks for the recommendations. Have you two ever tried a French Michelin-starred restaurant you recommend based on your dining there? I know they can be pricey, but I’m just wondering if there are any you think are worth the money.
Yes, the hotels are great. Staying in a hotel, however, usually requires that you eat out for most meals. When you have dietary concerns, eating out for most meals is not always possible, and therefore self-catering is the only reliable option. On reading of the difficulties some travellers have had with AirBnB (although we have used AirBnB twice before in Paris) It would be useful if you could recommend some reputable Parisian rental agencies.
Thank you both once more for a great video. Could you please let me know the name of the restaurant in Montparnasse which has the view of the city. I couldn't quite make out the name of it. Merci beaucoup, Sharon and Tim (Australia)
Thanks for sharing such valuable information! A bit off-topic, but I wanted to ask: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). What's the best way to send them to Binance?
We are planning to stay at Hotel Royal St. Germain (6 Arro) early April. Knowing that the 6th Arro is not a quaint, Perision feel, what Rues would you recommend we travel to for that full feel?
How is Pullman Paris near the Eiffel Tower? My wife is highly insistent on a nice hotel near the Eiffel Tower with a great balcony view of the Eiffel Tower.
After watching another of your videos I am a bit concerned about access to washrooms. Paying for it is not the problem but finding one seems to be a problem. When you walk around for a few hours visiting here and there eventually you will need that washroom.
The places I have found free washrooms are large department stores (they tend to be on upper floors, refer to the store floor map) and free museums (although you do need to go through security). Other free museum washrooms are Centre Pompidou (they're to the left of the ticket windows) and Musee du Luxembourg, due to the attached restaurant that shares the museum restroom (go through security, walk past the ticket windows on the right and the bathrooms are downstairs). In an emergency, I found 1 euro bathrooms available in the Westfield Forum de Halles shopping center. It's a very big place but they are on the shopping center maps.
10th arrondissement is great but please stay away from Gare du Nord directly, unless you’re traveling. It’s relatively fine but it can be dangerous at night especially. Paris is weird in the sense that great or bad areas can be just one street away. Same with montmartre, the area is great on the west and really not on the east side of the 18th arrondissement. I absolutely love Paris and I hate when people have a bad experience because they end up in the wrong area by accident
Great recommendations. Sadly, most of the hotels you show are totally out of my budget. I am a low-cost traveller and I was lucky to find an affordable hotel near Montmartre, but not on the hilly and touristy area. Fingers crossed that it's at least clean as well!
there is a campground in paris, you need a small one personn tent and to come in summer or may-june - september , july , august is often full. Your journey will be very cheap
If you're planning a budget-friendly trip to Paris, here are some accommodation options: Hostels: Check out Generator Paris, Le Village Montmartre, or MIJE Marais. Dorms start at €25-30 per night, and some include breakfast. Budget Hotels: Look for Ibis Budget, B&B Hotels, or HotelF1 for rooms starting at €40-60 per night. Campsites: Try Camping de Paris (in Bois de Boulogne) or Camping Paris-Est (in Champigny). Tent pitches start at €20-25 per night. Book early to get the best deals! Enjoy your trip to Paris! 😊
I rented a flat in the Marais area for next year. I wish their public transport was tap and go like in London. And one must watch out for fake taxis at Gare du Nord. I was recently scammed by one
Your videos are incredibly helpful for travelers! But please pronounce le Marais correctly… it will be more helpful for those traveling to Paris. No French person is going to understand why you’re looking for the marée in the middle of Paris 😂
Too bad only the expensive hotels.. .. You can stay in the fifth in a 4 star hotel for around 440 euros for 2 nights Next to the rue mouffetard. ...the eiffeltower area is not a great place to stay.
You pronounce the french names in the american fashion so that the audience understand or you still have to make huge progress in the french language ?
Please pronounce le Marais correctly… it will be more helpful for those traveling to Paris. No French person is going to understand why you’re looking for the marée in the middle of Paris 😂
I don't know why anyone would want to stay in Montmartre. It's so noisy at night. I usually stay in the 15th, which you didn't cover at all. It's possibly the most neighborhoody area of Paris. There's no tourist attractions at all, unless you want to do a lot of shopping in Beaugrenelle. The 16th is my other favorite. I love the elegance and quiet bourgeois atmosphere. But neither of there areas is good for visitors trying to walk the least possible. Walking is the point of these arrts. The 7th and 17th round out my preferences. Thank you for the good recommendations.

Which Airbnb do you stay at? Have you ever had an issue with it being canceled? I know there are recent changes to locals rules for airbnbs.
Have a wonderful New Year!🎉🎉
I am all for the Bastille area! local vibe, nice cafés, restaurants and the best markets in Paris ^^

We stayed at Hotel & Spa La Belle Juliette thanks to your recommendation years ago! We LOVED it and the area it was in!
For me the 16th is the place for a (not too short) stay and THE hotel is the Shangri-La ; absolutely worth it ! For a short stay more the center.

Just booked our 2 week return for Xmas ‘25. An apartment for a family is the best. No offense to hotel seekers. PSG, here we come!
How do you find apartments to stay in?
I love Montmartre!!!

We can't help but stay at Hotel Regina, just love it too much.

Felicidades!!!
I recommend Boulogne-Billancourt
Any thoughts on staying at La Defense district? I know it's not in Paris city proper, but it's a popular area for tour groups to stay at.
Before I clicked to watch this video, I already said to myself that Le Marais should be there. I love this unpretentious neighborhood.
Thanks for the recommendations. Have you two ever tried a French Michelin-starred restaurant you recommend based on your dining there? I know they can be pricey, but I’m just wondering if there are any you think are worth the money.

I wish you would print the names of the places when speaking about them
It would have been helpful to have the names of the restaurants spelled out on the screen. I recognized a few, but most not so.

I booked a hotel in the 17th near the 8th it’s one area that no one talks too much about. Debating changing it or keeping it’s refundable.
The 17th is very nice, not as lively as other arrondissements but still worth it!
@ prices of gone up for other places I might keep it. Then the last night I am staying in montemarte area
I’m at currently staying in the 17th. It’s lovely and easy to get to metro.
The husband is French, and his wife is American.
I wouldnt go to paris even if i won a free trip all expenses paid. Still i expect the french like it
You both are so lovable. But why not mention the tariffs of the hotels,
I couldn't watch this to the end. You guys are so out of touch with real life.

Be aware of brucellosis in Paris! Unregulated cheese!
thank you for wearing Palestine syal
How is Pullman Paris near the Eiffel Tower?
My wife is highly insistent on a nice hotel near the Eiffel Tower with a great balcony view of the Eiffel Tower.
