Actually I'm pretty sure this is a place where ai comes and fits in seamlessly, if integrated for artists. These procedural functions mean you don't have to design every tiny rock again and again, so ai could help elevate them. Ai truly can't replace the best of the best
Great breakdown! I'd love to see more of this kind of video on youtube! Thank you for showing your process Charlotte, very much appreciate it. I'm amazed by every part of it, and the final piece is just wonderful.
I am very inspired by both your organized design process and the results it created. Currently using what I've seen in this video as a sort of template for myself. Wish me luck!
This is genuinely very cool and fascinating to watch! It's interesting to see the various steps and effort that can be put behind a single piece. Great work!
You are definitively crazy !!! I don't know what the job description was but you sure overdid it ! Amazing piece of art, I love it, we can clearly see in your process how important it is for you to reach beauty and perfection, I'm in awe.
Great work! it was pleasant to see. I think lots of people will love that. My favourite parts are buildings assembling and final enhansments in photo editor. Very interesting to watch.
This is the most incredible piece of 3d base concept art I have ever seen! quite often the shapes are just used as a basis for a later painting (which is also cool) but more and more I see people just rearranging the models of others and calling it a day. the time skill and sheer artistic vision and creativity you put into making all these assets and bringing them together in the most breathtaking and eye opening way... the 3d render on its own was pure artistry. but the skill you showed by then doing the paintover, so that the level of detail, texture and painterly vibe of the piece came through, I can't commend you enough. Incredible, incredible work! P.S: what method are you using to attach your window elements to the faces of your buildings? it looks so efficient and id love to give it a go in my own projects but cant find the method anywhere! great work again!
Cool tutorial, I'm curious what exactly you're doing to place the railings and pillars at 2:14? It's an add on I guess, but I can't see how you're adding it to the geometry- is that a lattice of some sort?
Hi, it's part of the geometry node setup that is mentioned. You can assign modules via materials or - in case of the fence - by edge crease, which is super cool. Check out the creator if you want to know more!
Enromous great job! Hope you can do a narrated tutorial breakdown on how to do every step on the 3d side. Could be really helpful! Thanks a lot for this video!
Wahnsinn, bin beeinduckt! 😉
That's awesome work! The part of the lights was it ok to test different options? Or the scene wasn't that smooth? I mean, how was the performance on this part of the study with a huge scene and assets?
Wow, awesome! Thank you for showing your process. I’m new to blender and I saw that you added small carts and lampposts that seemed pre-made. Did you make those yourself before starting this large project? Or did you use some pre-made items?
Watched this a couple of times and I'm still in awe with it. I just picked up the addon from Julien. I'm curious how you made the domed rooftops since the start model is a default cube? I tried applying the modifier to a separate model but I can't seem to make it work. Thanks in advance! Really love your work and looking forward for more content!
Thanks a lot! I added the dome shape while in edit mode, this way it is part of the same mesh :) You could also use separate meshes by either separating a part of your geometry or copy the initial mesh that the addon provides
I used this tutorial as a base for the shader: ua-cam.com/video/6LIEUQ-tTHw/v-deo.html I modified it by adding more variation in ripple sizes using noises to make it more realistic from this perspective. Feel free to ask more questions! :)
@@charlottekugler Thank you! Gonna try it out. Really have too much of them, all part of the video where you do the geo nodes looks like dark magic or something :D I alsways was kinda afraid of doing locations this big, but nodes really make it much simplier, at least on the video))
Holy cow!! This entire proccess is so meticulous and incredibly well made, very impressive. Where do you build this kind of creative vision? I would love to study a course from you.
Thanks so much! I always try to come up with a story/history for a place before I design it, that helps a lot when trying to create a cohesive environment :)
Thanks! Here's a link to the node setup: drive.google.com/file/d/1flZvqtqFtaUbu7_QN5zF2JbPQo3r-tf-/view?usp=sharing Pretty much all the shaders I used are similarly structured. I'm not a shading expert though, so there is probably a lot to improve :)
I admire your perseverance. How do you manage to see a project through to the end? My problem is always that I start great projects, but then lose interest in the middle when I encounter too many challenges.
Thank you! It was hard at times to push through; I always try to set myself lots of small goals throughout a project. You could start with smaller projects to build up some perseverance and try to find some aspects of the project that you can look forward to :)
sorry can i ask you do you think that the size (17 inch) for screen display tablet is prohibitive for a professional concept artist? (I intend to give it as a gift to a friend who is a professional) the product we are referring to is the wacom cintiq pro 17
Really nice. I'd forgotten about Julians nodes. Will definitely have to give this a crack at some point. Do you find them useful for other types of things? As a side note, I suppose you could also add some weathering alpha cards under the windows as part of the modular piece - or just use weathering decals in general on the asset side. But maybe that's neither here nor there :) Very nice work!
Thank you! I have only used the nodes for this project so far but am sure to use them again and see how much I can do with them. The decal idea is brilliant I will do that next time for sure! :)
This kind of knowledge and talent is never gonna be replaced by AI, wow!
Actually I'm pretty sure this is a place where ai comes and fits in seamlessly, if integrated for artists. These procedural functions mean you don't have to design every tiny rock again and again, so ai could help elevate them. Ai truly can't replace the best of the best
This is fantastic! As a 2D artist who is new to Blender, this definitely inspired me to learn more.
That's so nice, thank you!
This was so impressive : I understand now why everyone is talking about geometry nodes ! Honestly, thank you for this video !
Great job! I hope you do more breakdowns in the future.
Thanks, I'm planning to do these more often :)

Thanks for this stellar breakdown! Great to see how you make your art!
Congratulations on winning and thanks for sharing this.
This is incredible, thanks for sharing your process! I hope this is not the last video you post :P
I find this super inspiring for young artist like me to keep going on learning more.

Well done!

amazing work!

Great one!!
this is so awesome!!

very nice!
Great work!! modelling the buildings using the geometry nodes setup was mind-blowing, do you have any resources to learn how to use it?
Thanks! If you download the geometry node setup, a narrated tutorial by the creator as well as a documentation is included
I should hope you'll do more videos!
Maestro!
A huge amount of work. Nicely done. How long did it take you?
thank you very very very much
That's awesome work!
The part of the lights was it ok to test different options? Or the scene wasn't that smooth? I mean, how was the performance on this part of the study with a huge scene and assets?
Thanks! The performance was pretty bad towards the end haha. It was still smooth enough to test out lighting though
Wow!
Wow, awesome! Thank you for showing your process. I’m new to blender and I saw that you added small carts and lampposts that seemed pre-made. Did you make those yourself before starting this large project? Or did you use some pre-made items?
It's easier with MidJourney!!
I'M JOKING! :)
What a job! Marvelous! ;)
Awesome! How much time did you take?
Nice video and excellent work, but I was wondering why there is no sound in the video?
Thanks! I didn't expect this video to get much attention, next time there will be sound haha
cool!
Absolutely awesome - do you have a twitch stream that i can follow? Would love to see this process in more detail!
No twitch stream, but I'll make some more breakdowns in the future :)

@@charlottekugler thanks! that makes sense, I didn't think of that.
That's amazing! Two many questions to ask but I noticed that water looked pretty good straight from 3d. What shader did you use for it?

All done in Blender and rendered in Cycles :)
Soooo coool
H...how do you do that? simply applying the material and it provides a decal/mesh
It is the addon I am using, link is in the description
nice
Beautiful piece, how many hours of work for this one?
This is phenomenal! How long did this piece take you from sketch to final?
Thanks! Hard to say how long it took unfortunately but it was a while haha :)
Hey! This is stunning! Have you thought on making a course? I would love to learn about your process and would actually pay for it
Thank you! No course planned for now, but I'll probably do some more in depth breakdowns in the future :)

Yes, all blender and it definitely took a while haha
it's so nice viedo but, if you put some music, it will very nice viedo. i recommend classic music or Royalty Free Music

hey great stuff, do you have a link for purchasing the characters?
Which characters are you referring to? The humans in the scene were modelled from photos, similar to the architecture modules
