A crack of lightning far back behind the tower would look awesome. Maybe a contrasting backlight rolling through the hills. I love this. It’s beautiful and mysterious
fantastic post. really appreciate the time you put into this. I often find myself abandoning an art piece because I feel there is not much more to explore or frustrated as to how I can improve the ongoing process. The way you approached the whole scene makes it much easier to come back and tweak each part while exploring an overall Idea. Thank you!
The feeling of size and monumentalism that the constructions in this composition cause... man I really have no words. Any advice on how to put this into practice? please keep uploading
Thanks for sharing that, it was just what I needed today. Not too long, full of art wisdom and conforting my style of: I don't know, what the hell Im drawing next here, just going with the flow. I love it. :)
We just got back from Inchmahome Priory (had two Osprey fly right over the boat!) so this is perfect timing to come home to and start a new piece from today’s photos. Cheers Grady! Love your final. Procreate is definitely a software I want to master. 🏴
great artwork and video! I really enjoy when the artist explains what they are thinking, while seeing the time lapse! + perfect video length very nice ;)
And the Voice of Experience shares a few more Gems of Wisdom! Thanks for sharing Grady. You've motivated me to make my way through "the maze" of iPad products and choose which one to buy next to replace the one that crashed a few weeks ago. That was the second iPad to have died on me! I'm missing not be able to use Procreate.
Thanks for the kindness! That sucks to hear about your Ipads, I really hope you were just really unlucky and that isn't the norm haha We always have paper at least!(if you're into that)
Oh thanks for share your process. Is Friday and Im going to watch this video drinking a beer to begin to relax me and enjoy the weekend. Greetings from Mexico
What a striking piece! Made me think of the game Blasphemous with the purple hues in the sky and themes of worship and devotion. However, as always, the artwork has a unique feel and masterful execution.
I'm glad your vid thumbnail was so vibrant for me to notice you, awesome chill vid, your initial sketch was so great, maybe you can do a part two with the other taller tower. Really sic turnout with the atmosphere, reminds me of a evil wasteland.
If you want a software that feels more like Photoshop, try Art Studio Pro! You can import your ABR file too and get your brushes. Also, I’m loving all your videos, you’re awesome!
00:37 - Roblox I'm sorry for that comment I thought it would be funny haha Thank you for your content, sir Frederick. Your art is a big inspiration for me!
Good question! It is sadly pretty tough to answer but it mainly comes down to the composition and telling the right story. If the element in question does not serve to push the narrative of the image, then it can be removed. I want to build my composition around the story of the image. As far as composition goes, it just takes experience and developing a strong sense of shape arrangement (something I'm still working on myself) to determine what works and what doesn't. I like studying my favorite movie directors and artists to try and understand what makes certain frames so successful. It is pretty hard to articulate, but it comes with time and practice :) Thanks for watching!
Always great to see how other artists think and work, loved the video and the final image! PS.: the song is a remix of Ancestor Spirit from Elden Ring, isn't it?
If anything it is the opposite for me at the moment. Sketching is great in Procreate, but I feel much more comfortable and efficient painting in photoshop
A slice of red light. Dying sun uncovered, but the hope of her rays cannot get through anymore. The unease of darkness is cast upon this place from nowhere but deep inside. A last shimmer of hope where peasants once honored their loved ones, and their heroes. If it will be buried with the fallen remains to be told.
@@gradyfrederickart purely inspired by your concept art! Without it, it wouldn't have happened. Looking forward to what the story will be that you're currently building.
I tried using procreate but I found it to be cumbersome to use in comparison to a desktop with a keyboard and all my shortcuts. Do you use an Ipad keyboard or just click around on the tablet?
@@nacostaart I feel the same way, working on a desktop feels much more fluid and efficient. I don’t use a keyboard for my iPad, but there are some helpful gestures and pen functions to replace some keyboard functions. Obviously there is still some clicking around, but it is still pretty good considering how lightweight the software is. Lots of people only have access to the iPad and don’t have the whole desktop setup so I like to create stuff using both tools. Thanks for watching!
@@EdwinNikkels Thanks! I see what you mean. That element was actually inspired by a little wooden pergola-type structure leading to a temple in the movie the Northman. Could do with a bit more care and design, I agree. This is why these quick mood paintings are great, lots of stuff to build on!

I find it very hard to balance the canvas size, to gain a good quality and also enough layers..😅
Do you have any tips on canvas sizing for procreate?
you may have just inspired a new painting. and video.
