HI Alisha. Your hair looks very soft. However the Velcro rollers were not the way to go. For my clients I used the hard rollers, some call them magnetic rollers. I make sure to keep their hair wet. You'll get better results. Roll your hair in smaller sections tightly.. After it dries use the Saran Wrap again like you did and use cool air to avoid sweating and frizzing for 10 minutes. Please try it again. I'm very sure you'll love it💕💕

Exactly! I tried Velcro rollers excepting a straight silk look, instead I got a stretched blowout look. But now I have magnetic rollers and I’m gonna do it for a Christmas party and I’m so excited 😆

Yeah I didn't like it after the seran wrap. It looked better, straightened and shinier after she took the rollers out. And the hair looked more stretched to the tips of her hair.
On my natural I would just stop at the rollers.

See...this is a real time video. I like that you were honest about your hair and how this turned out. This is a great video to demo an experiment of what works for someone else that may not work for you or others with your same hair type. However...when you first took out the rollers, your hair was so curly and bouncy! Your hair has gotten so long. I just re-watched one of your deep conditioner videos today. 👍🏽❤️

It's the Saran wrap. What happens is because we're natural the hair sweats under the Saran wrap and starts to revert back. I've tried this before and my hair turned out the same way. Next time, maybe wrap it and cover with a satin scarf overnight.

I love roller sets on my type 4 hair, but like you, I haven't perfected the silk wrap yet. I use tension, also called hourglass rollers. You get a very smooth set with those and the grip the hair, but they don't snag it. They're not cheap, but I think they're worth it. When the weather cools off, I will be roller setting my hair more.

Hey so my hair used to come out exactly like this. Now once I finish washing my hair, I wrap my hair with a small tooth comb (this will straighten the hair)and sit under the dryer. You can also add a few rollers to the top for extra volume.

  • @gerrythomas4690

Hi Alisha! Thank you for the video. Based on your rolling technique, I think you might need to spend more time with sectioning the sections you roller set and then making sure that each section has the same amount, roughly, of hair in it. I noticed that the slide you did not like was also the side in which you used fewer rollers. Even when you were showing off the finished rolled hair, that area to the back right only had two rollers and they were not tightly rolled. I would also forget the Saran Wrap as once you further combed the hair to wrap it , I could tell the hair looked like it needed additional oil as the comb seemed to rake through versus glide through the hair. Then, when you took you hair out of the wrap, as soon as you were combing the hair out, I could tell it was not the look you were going for.
I would also suggest spending more time smoothing the hair around your edges as you are putting in the rollers so that they are smoother when you take the rollers out.
I am not sure I could have done as great a job as you did filming this all on camera. You get an A plus for your effort and i did learn of some new products that I might use.

You should try loosely pin curling it at night. This will allow you to have the straight root and maintain loose curls when you wake up. I'm relaxed, but my hair will do the same half straight/hair curl if I wrap it after a roller set. Great effort, though. Your hair looked really soft and flowing.

    Hi, another great video.
I am terrible with roller sets but I will try your method so I don't get bumps in my hair. But I don't think I will try the cling film wrap...mainly because I preferred your hair prior to the wrap but in truth...you still look great. And I thank you for being honest with your thoughts on the end result.

the velcro rollers act like a brush to me and are more for sleeping...it's flat on that side because it was laid flat with the brush before wrapping...I agree that the other side has more volume...This style reveals the any damage to the ends when dry. I would clip the ends. I would clip them.

I think foam setting lotions can dry out the hair especially if there is alcohol in it. Probably a liquid setting lotion like Lotta body may have worked better.
