- I got this 08s at a yard sale for $40. It would run on prime but that's it. So I rebuilt the carb/new fuel lines and put in the proper spark plug.Then gave it a quick tune an sharpened the chain. And here's how she runs!

The governor on those was the choke. It had an air vane governor that slowly closed the choke to limit the rpms. EPA would've had a fit!!!
I've enherited it from my dad it supper strong
i have owned one of these for around 30 years and the previous owner said he had it 20 so its had some hard work , the bar on mine is longer but it does not cause it problems . i have seen some 08s with an air filter fitted externaly but i think previous models
The External air Filter is from the cut off saw ts08...

Ciao...tendi un pò la catena...quando la motosega è al minimo, non deve scorrere sulla barra,altrimenti è pericoloso!!! abbassa un pò il mino dal carburatore...per il resto hai per le mani una FERRARI delle motoseghe....Complimenti

I have a Stihl 2170 solo, its old but I'd like to know how old , can't find it on any stihl sites.
I have one of these but the front of the muffler has blown out so it doesn't sound like that 🤣
shouldn't the chain not move when idling.
Yes the clutch springs are old and bit tired in this saw.
