It could use some fuses, particularly on the binding posts.

Thanks, I don't disagree overall with that. The BMS should protect from a short circuit, but fuses are our friends.

Great project and video . Good job! I'm still waiting on my EG4 battery to arrive. I'm doing the same setup Will browse did with the hand truck. Next project will be something similar to yours.

My project is two, 200 ah 12 batteries together as 24v, with an all in one 24v inverter/charger/MPPT.. Coming soon I hope!

Get dchouse 100ah battery and slop an inverter on there and you get more power than that.

Getting more power isn't the issue. It's size and price. Check out my 3840wh version

With that inverter, you do not need USB-C outlets. But you can ALWAYS use USB-A.
500W inverters usually provide 350w of continuous power.
Whatever the inverter rating, deduct 1/3 for continuous use. The rating is for peak startup not peak running.
Pure sine wave is best if you want to use with electronics.

The inverter is pure sine. I won't use modified any more. The reason why I put the USB ports on is because DC to DC charging is more efficient. Using the inverter means you automatically lose 10 to 15% of your battery life. A 500w inverter is enough for my box fans, lights and laptops. This inverter does not surge at all so it's no good for anything like a freezer.

@@texasprepperprojects So, it is pretty muse useless for modern life? Except for a cell phone charger which would be useless in a SHTF scenario.
You could run some LED lights or maybe a smallish TV though.
I have some OLD inverters that are not pure sine wave. Makes a buzzing sound in the speakers when connecting a radio to them.
But will run some small things.
I have a laptop that would drain your battery in a couple hours or less.
You could get one of those 6-can coke refrigerators to keep some things cool.
I have one of those - takes 40 watts if connected to wall or 48 watts connected to 12vdc source.
Runs all the time so it would drain the 650 battery of yours in about 10-11 hours.
At least things in it are about 25 deg cooler than ambient.
Perhaps you could have two batteries to increase power longevity?
Or maybe add in a jump pack?
Never knew how to charge through USB ports. I read you can but never tried.

Modified sine inverters are only good for items with motors. Fans, drills, saws. Use a DC compressor fridge they get much colder and only draw around 50w

@@texasprepperprojects And yet contain unreliable electronics. Also, I read that many of those DC compressors are failing within a year or so.

The problem with the TEC fridges is that they don't get that cold. Only 20F under ambient. So if it is 120F outside you only get to 100. If it's 100F, you get to 80F. Barely worth it

How do you get 640 watt hours? 500 amp inverter? How about 500 watt.

    • @texasprepperprojects
      @texasprepperprojects  2 місяці тому

12.8 volt battery that has 50 amp hours. 12.8v x 50 amp hours =640 watt hours
