I have to agree with this list. My SCX10.2 is an amazing performer. Steering and suspension are top notch. I think if you run 2s on the Gen8 and put traxxas wheels/foams/tire combo on it, then it beats the SCX10.2 by a hair because of the portals. They make a bigger difference than steering angle on my trails. You guys keep making great videos, but...where was the Gen8 on Those runs that all 3 other trucks were doing together? I was diszapointed that the Gen8 wasnt right there with the other 3??
I don't own any of the trucks shown but I agree with your outcome in this video . I do own a traxxas trx4 and a redcat truck and plan on getting a sport as my next rig . Thanks for what you do great content always , sometimes I don't agree but I enjoy the content. CHEERS
I’d still buy the Gen 8 over all of these. The only issues that I’ve found with it is the durability of some parts ( although most broken parts can be attributed to driver error) and that they don’t offer a clear body in a builders kit. Having only Blue and Orange isn’t ideal. Overall though with a few mods it can crawl with any of these on any day. Definitely the best body of this lot. When the aftermarket catches up with the Gen 8 the sky is the limit.
Good feedback. Driver error is hard to define though. A sturdy machine can withstand different driving styles and steep/harsh technical terrain. The Axial Chevy Blazer is much more refined than the Gen8 body. Better molded parts, fenders, lexan, cage.
RC Review what I meant by driver error, is noobs like me who back the truck up as fast as it will go and then punch it forward, pulling the wheels off the ground breaking pinions, ring gears, etc. that’s just one example of doing stupid stuff. I didn’t like the interior of the Axial Chevy Blazer. Just made it look too fake to me. I did like the cage though and wonder if it would transfer into the Gen 8. I really like what you guys did with the removable top on the tan Scout.

I already had TRX 4 defender and a sport. I thought I would buy the Axial Blazer to have something different than TRX 4. First few runs with the Axial blazer and I wasn’t really impressed compared to the TRX 4 but I then put a set of the TRX 4 wheels and tires on the Axial blazer and it performed so much better. The Axial Blazer stock tires are crap. Frustrating to have such poor tires on $400 RTR. Also the stock servo is not very good. But I think after changing tires and servo it will be a quite capable vehicle
Yes, better and bigger tires really help it reach its potential. That company is bankrupt though and this car is hardly supported now with parts and upgrades.
Nice review as usual...very informative again, I still prefere the Gen8. ..traxxs maybe better crawler due to very light body, but the body is see through and not that scale realistic....my opinion ofcourse.... Thanks again. Bernard

I have a TRX sport trail crawler, and I really enjoy watching your videos. I have a question I would like to ask...on my Traxxas box it describes the TRX as a trail crawler. And it seems that everybody is trying to modify the TRX into a rock crawler. But doesn't that defeat the purpose that the TRX was built for? I enjoy modifying my truck to make it a better performer but doesn't it come to a point to where some modifications limit the purpose for which the truck was built? Just curious about your input would be.
Hi, I also have the TRX4, but the LR version. I'm surprised by how many people try to make it or use it as a rock crawler and point the heavy body and centre of gravity as it's disadvantages... I find it awesome for trail crawling and scale driving. Even in the real world there is a huge difference between trucks made solely for the rock crawling and an expedition prepared 4x4. The two are not comparable at all...
I have ran all but the hpi. The gen 8 hands down out performes the traxxas and scx10ii out of the box. The axial and gen 8 had solid reliability, but the traxxas blew the steering servo twice in a month. I actually liked the gen 8 so much that I bought it for myself. That's saying something because the only brand I have ever hated more than traxxas was redcat.

Great video as always! Just curious where do you think the Vanquish would have rated in this comparo?
Vanquish performs almost like an Axial. Same exact design with legendary quality. But aluminum hangs up a lot and the bumpers and tires are just awful
The Scout ii needs bigger tires and better bumpers to slide on.
What bumpers were you running on the trx-4 sport?
They are just plates mounted on the stock TRX4 carriers. They were made to match a Power Wagon body we normally use.

Right? I wonder why it wasnt doing the same runs with the other 3?
They didn't show any defense with it I think it's because out of the box it doesn't have much brake drag and I believe that is adjustable in the ESC
