Hi Carson, Im not sure what the correct name would be. But you'll want something that has small teeth. Can be quite fine. I think the saw I used came from Harbor Freight. But any hardware store should have a variety of saws and you could compare for a small size.
"Hack saw" is the common name for it. To be safer, I'd secure the large portion (that will be discarded) to a table with one or two c-clamps. Position it so the cutting line is just off the table to keep it from bouncing or vibrating more than it has to.

hey, can I ask what type of saw you are using? I've been trying to figure out how to use split the cassette in the safest and smartest way.

Did you pre-record the music before the process?
I recorded the music after I made the loop, but I wasn't looping in the video. Just playing back to demo the loop and length.
