Exactly, as an ex striker who would play gk its crazy how much gk coaches never want you using your feet to save. They want you to reach down to your foot to hit it with your hand. It never made sense, why use my hand when I can just kick my leg out there and get it.
Tip for all keepers: be aware of your body position and how high/low you are. As you can see, if they weren’t guessing on the ball bouncing and had more height (standing up) they’d have more length to make some saves. Crouching took them out of a chance to make those further saves. Don’t load all your weight like that bc it can make reacting harder

Can someone explain that if i am the goalie, is the goal to catch or deflect?? If the striker is too close, im assuming its to pick up the ball but in general, is the ‘goal’ to just get it away?
As a former keeper, I will say the foot save was always my bread and butter even though I got harassed for it by my coaches lol
