Hola Ken, gran aventura al sur del mundo, lugares muy duros por el clima y muy hermosos por su fauna y paisajes desérticos. Muchos peces grandes y otros chicos saltarines también. Buena pesca y saludos cordiales desde Argentina.
Very cool presentation, really enjoyed your video footage and that one bow you got in between the guests showing and going . More my style and tasting that row. 😋 what was your duration of time what would be the budget for your time . Just epic.
Great video Ken! I think this is the best that I have viewed so far on JL. I'll be taking that 5 hour drive in April. How come I see other anglers fishing but your the only one stroking them? The food looks amazing...
Thank you very much Greg. I appreciate the kind words and support. Oh awesome, you’re gonna have an incredible time. 😂 Thats just coincidence. Matter of fact, if you watch that “bay of pigs” clip again you can see the guy in the background fighting a fish and the fish even jumped! Food is amazing!
I would take a 8wt or 7wt with floating line as well as a 5wt or 6wt with floating line. As you saw, you have the opportunity for dry fly action so I highly recommend trying it out. If I don't mention it in the video, you can always see my gear I used in the description box below.
@@Wish4Fish awesome to know and great video of amazing fish. My last question just because I didn't here or see it mentioned in the description, what size leader are you using. Would a 4x 9ft tapered leader work well or would I need a stronger leader?
"x" more like POUNDS. I was using 20lb leaders straight. As well as 20lb butt section with 12lb tippet. They will have tippet there for you. You're not going to go through much tippet anyways.
Thank you very much. That’s definitely the most challenging part. That’s why you see me backcasting at times. Definitely good to practice that and casting opposite shoulder. As well as driving it into the wind. Good thing is there are beats that you can SORT of escape the wind a bit.
NICE! Amazing place! Tell everyone I said hello! They have flies there but if you want to bring flies you can’t go strong with scuds. That’s what they are eating. All honesty, you float anything past them with a good drift and they are eating it.
I used a 8wt most of the time. The switch is pointless. I would bring a 5wt just in case you get a calm day. Go to the aquarium and hit up some dry fly action! Ask Lew for the black beetle looking fly.
Too windy 90% of the time. Plus no need to cast that far and plenty of room to back cast in all of the beats. They are easily in reach with a regular rod.
Hardly call that combat fishing but alright. Trust me, you don’t think anything about it when you’re there. Besides, why would you even want to fish the rest of the lake, when they are all right there.
Thanks for the response man. I need to do this trip in the next few years. If you are ever passing through southern utah and want to see some water, hit me up.
The walk and drag fly , not looking fish take , pick up to cast and bam , the I think I’m stuck on something are tried and true methods for a good hook set to catch fish . Let the wind be your friend, isn’t that the truth. Nice job 👍
Hi Ken, I have a couple questions about you trip. I have a trip plan to JLL in October. 1. When did your trip take place? 2. How many rods did you take with you? 3. It looks like you drove to the lodge, how was the drive? I’m supposed to fly to lodge but as of now the charter is shut down because of Covid. 4. Did you take anything with you that you didn’t need. 5. Is there anything you didn’t take that you wish you did? 6. Any tips to make to make this trip as smooth as possible would be great. Thanks Mark
I was there in November. I took 2 8wt and 2 5wt. Just so I had a backup in both. The drive wasn't bad, around 5hrs. I slept most of the way both ways. Unless they sort out the charter situation by then you will most likely drive as well. I am a very experienced traveler so I have everything nailed down. Although I always forget ONE item. Don't forget your outlet power adaptor. Places like this have everything you need.
Now that you had that amazing opportunity to catch so many trophy trout, I'm wondering if you learned anything new regarding playing and landing big fish? We all know hooking big fish is one thing (trout specifically), but landing them is a special skill in itself.
You are 100% correct on that. Most apparent with BIG Tarpon. I wouldn’t say anything new. Fighting most big fish is generally the same. We also didn’t have much to deal with structure or current wise. The only thing I would say was new was learning how to hold a trout that size. 😂 It has a cankle tail and it’s hard to put pressure against the fan of the tail.
The food at that place looks ridiculous Ken! The fishing was amazing it seems. What time of year were you there? Did this take the cake as your new top spot or does Bolivia still take the cake?
Hey man, dig the footage and your show! Just fished with a guide friend of yours Todd Monson at destination "X" ,Lol.We brought some 30lbers in ...cool dude and knows his shit.If you have a chance check out my "Bug Eater Fishing Show" would love any input.Keep fishing man....you rock!!!! Greg Smith
Thank you very much Dr. I appreciate the kind words and support. Oh yeah, nice! Glad you got into them! Unfortunately missed out on LA this season. Hopefully, I can get back there in the fall. Thanks Greg
don't get it I watch fishing shows to see the fish and the fight why would you just show the hook set then in the net never seen a fishing show that doesn't show the fight????
Sweet, then don’t watch 👍🏼 Have fun watching a person rod the rod and reel in line. I show the fight when the fight is relevant. With trout, not so much.
You call that a simple question? Zero need for your passive aggressive attitude. You could have “simply” said “I wish you showed more of the fight” to get a civilized response.
@@Wish4Fish I was blunt I'll admit that but I don't get what in it would piss you off I asked I said I've never seen a fishing show that doesn't show the fight what attitude I asked a question I've seen tons of fishing shows I don't want a pissing match but at same time I don't think I wrote anything to deserve the reply. I meant no offense when I wrote it and It caught me by surprise your reply wasn't expecting it.
Who said I was pissed off? All I said was don’t watch. I even proceeded to answer your question. You’re the one throwing F-bombs, not me. Next time you want a question answered seriously you should think about how you’re asking it.
Thank you for the great movie. Incredible fishery!

Great Work Ken. Thanks for sharing your Amazing Adventure🐠👍

once again brother you not only entertain us, but show us all some great fishing from this rock

No matter how many times I see them in pics or vids I cannot believe how big they are! Super Rad Ken!
No doubt! It’s unreal.
Thank you very much Dave.
Very cool...just booked a tarpon/bonefish trip in the keys for June...can't wait.
Thank you very much.
Nice! Good luck.
I’ve heard of the San Juan shuffle but the jurassic shuffle is something else. That was unreal man!!!!
Yeah, it was crazy! I definitely tried a couple times to catch them with my hands 😂
Killing us with the wait Ken!!
😂 thanks Richard

So cool! It was sweet talking to you at the fly fishing show in Denver! Pretty soon, if the fishing is good, I want to film a longer film style video!

60% of the time, works every time.
Do you ever plan on targeting Hucho/ Danube salmon and or Tainan in Europe and Mongolia/Russia?
Hopefully some day!
7:26 chromed out! that looks like a steelhead
Yeah, the super freshies were CHROME! Longer in the river the more color they had.
How long does it take to pull those fish in?
All depends. If they are freshies then they can put up quite a fight. Some less than others. Fish aren’t created equal.
did you know all these people you fish around on this trip?
I did not. Both groups were random groups.
Great video! Thanks for sharing.
How challenging was casting with the wind? Looked and sounded pretty strong?
