That is usually how it is in Asian countries. You have the dedicated arcade shops, and you have the arcade games in a shopping mall, where usually the dad and the kids go and hang out while the mom goes on a shopping spree.

I know it's probably a joke, but calling him a 'regular guy' in Japan seriously undermines the amount of effort this man puts in to get to this level of skill. The amount of hours put into playing the game, being a composer and all (which I know for a fact isn't an easy job). Perhaps it's because arcades are more common in Japan and much more 'youngsters' there spends a lot of time playing arcade games, but I can bet not just any random guy in Japan can play this game with that level of skill unless they put as much effort in training their skills. Props to the man for being able to play this well, I really love this game and I really respect him for his skills.

japan is only good at rhythm games because rhythm games were made in Japan, not only that Japanese is only good at rhythm games and sometimes SSB but is rarely seen in any other competitive scene, Koreans and Chinese on the other hand are arguably better than Japanese in games in general due to the fact that it is much easier to find them in other competitive scenes such as LoL.

japan is only good at rhythm games because rhythm games were made in Japan, not only that Japanese is only good at rhythm games and sometimes SSB but is rarely seen in any other competitive scene, Koreans and Chinese on the other hand are arguably better than Japanese in games in general due to the fact that it is much easier to find them in other competitive scenes such as LoL.
