Today’s podcast was the perfect example of why I love y’all so much, the tangents and the side conversations that y’all come up with are just too much fun! Who knew we could have an existential crisis talking about the good old Grammys lol! I agree with pretty much everything you said which pisses me off because I used to love them when I was a kid, I have some really great memories of old Grammy shows but yeah, I gave up watching them at least 20 years ago probably more. I’m sure the artists don’t mind having that title tho, they are forever introduced as Grammy award winner blah blah blah, and that means something still apparently so good for them..seriously anyone who gets recognized for their craft that’s great and to anyone who feels snubbed Hopefully you still make a shit load of money and keep your fan base lol some of the best music I’ve ever heard in my entire life are the underground bands, and bar bands from the neighborhood that no one will ever hear about. And and just because we’re talking about the Grammys…hands-down by far the best Grammy performance ever was when Aretha Franklin stood in for Luciano Pavarotti for Nessun Dorma when he got sick right before the show, she only had like a half an hour to practice with the Orchestra and since they had practiced in his key, she did it in his key! She tore the house down, if you guys have never seen it it’s worth a watch for sure!✌💙✨😎🤘🏼💚
For a minute I thought it read ' Who the hell cares about the Grannies? ' I've never took an interest in the Grammy's or the Oscars. Good podcast though.
Personally, I think ALL Awards shows are a complete waste of time. I haven't watched any in more than a decade. All the self-congratulations and butt kissing are too much crap for me to absorb. Oscars, Grammys, Tonys, Emmys, MTVs, Golden Globes, etc., all of them are pointless. If you don't watch them, you won't miss them.
If I remember correctly one year Beck won album of the year over Kanye and he ran up on stage. I don’t think he said anything because of security or something but he definitely was hot and ran up on the stage.
Eminem called out the Grammys years ago when Macklemore won best rap album and song (I think) over Kendrick Lamar. He put out a statement denouncing the Grammys. He’s up for 3 this year and he’s already said that Kendrick deserves to win. The Grammys are a joke.
In regard to the discussion on politics, there is one truth. You can choose to not "do" politics...but politics will always do you. It's always a choice between the lesser of two evils. Perfection doesn't exist. A lot of people are going to feel all of these things in the next few years.
Omg y’all I love Doechii!! I think Chappell Roan’s name is pronounced like ‘chapel’. I do actually know who they are, surprisingly… in spite of my old age 😆😩
I remember when the Grammys had the first Best Metal category, and Jethro Tull beat Metallica. Lol. Jethro Tull is a great band but they are not metal.
You can picture all the suits picking the winner. Heard guitar and thought it was metal. Love Jethro Tull but they've never been metal even though Tony Iommi started with them.
Speaking of country; I learned yesterday that the word that I can’t say here but I can say see you next Tuesday, is actually an abbreviation from the word country? 🤯 Makes sense and I guess some people may take offense to being called cuntry folk. 😂 not me though.
I stopped caring about the grammys when music stopped being good which was long before Kanye defended Beyonce, Unfortunately it’s all corrupt and not organic imo no one has the talent or excitement like there was in the 80s hence why i watch reaction channels as opposed to fixed award shows
To answer the question in the title, not me. I’m sure it’s nice for artists and producers to get recognized for high achievement, but knowing someone’s Grammy history ,or lack thereof, isn’t going to have any effect on whether or not I check out their music. Some of my favorites artists have a lot of them, and some of my other favorites have never even sniffed a nomination, but the music had an equal emotional impact on me as the big winners. It’s all subjective.
Nobody. Just like nobody cares about Oscars, etc. The whole thing completely discredited itself long go. With all that woke / political corectness nonsense. Which have a big part in any decision making, whether it s movie or music, whatever. Ad a result we have all kind of bull..t and sick people flooded those events, which once were truly indicators of real success, not politically/ woke motivated stuff.

We all care about the grannies 😂
That's why it's called the Grammys.
That's who's watching it.. people's grammys.
😆
The Grammys use to awarded to the best in music. Now it’s all who makes money on touring selling albums and putting out 1 or 2 hit songs.

Morni g guys! I love where your talks go! Always interesting! Love y'all!🙂
The Kanye incident was for the MTV awards, not the Grammy's...

Bills. Isn’t Bills an acronym? “Boy I Love Losing Superbowls”
Boy I love losing super bowls
😆
Ghost: „stay away from the Grammys“ 😂

Macklemore even called out himself that year

Awards for any form of art are pointless in my opinion. Art is supposed to be about expression, not competition.
I used to watch the Grammy’s but haven’t in many years. If there’s a performance that gets a lot of attention I watch it on UA-cam 😊

That’s was my introduction to Metallica
Isn't the boycott you are referring to the Oscar's not the Grammy's??

Wow that's amazing. Never heard that.
Hey, you guys are due for a RUSH reaction
You HAVE TO check out Roll the Bones
As rappers, it just HAS TO HAPPEN
I stopped caring about the grammys when music stopped being good which was long before Kanye defended Beyonce, Unfortunately it’s all corrupt and not organic imo no one has the talent or excitement like there was in the 80s hence why i watch reaction channels as opposed to fixed award shows

Did they talk about knocked loose and Poppy?
Gotta love arm chair quarterbacks. Thinking they know everything when they know nothing at all.
Yaaaaaaa dexter!!!!!!!

It's irrelevant and fake. Jethro tull won the metal category. Enough said
