I'm really surprised there wasn't a way to turn people into a dark world bunny or something regardless of the moon pearl... now THAT would be EVIL if done at the right time LOL :)
You know, with as much shit as Patty talks about Andy, friendly shit of course, this was like an authentic Wrestlemania main event, and it pretty much came down to the wire, LOVED IT!!!!!!!
I felt so bad for Paty when he realized his mistake in Ice Palace. He could have gotten that big chest without a bomb jump since had just gotten the big key, but he forgot to bomb the hole in the floor. He turned for a second like...fek.......then he failed the first bomb jump when he went back...feels bad...he still rocks the house alongside Andy in this race. They both had some goofs but that's okay.
There's no warp tile in Hyrule castle where Patty was at on the pyramid. Also, why would it replay the victory animation if it was a simple warp to dark world?
Why do players often skip Swamp big chest like Andy at 1:42:12-ish? Isn't this an item-containing chest? I think I have seen Andy in another match end up going back for this after clearing Swamp. How does the logic work around this? Also super great commentary and thanks for posting these - what a great community and an awesome idea. Grew up with the SNES and now getting to enjoy it an entirely different way.
I'm of the opinion that negative chat effects just create an environment of people constantly going "lol time to kill the streamer" every 5 minutes while the rest of us got tired of it an hour ago and just want to watch the game get played.
This seems great. I have a few questions though: 1)How can I get the randomizer rom? I only found an .exe file which is a bit sketchy 2) at around 7:45 Patty got a bomb after staying still. Did we just not see because he DC'd 3)How come they transform? 4)Are they playing the same seed? (I guess that means that they should have the same chests but I am not sure)
There is at least one website where you can choose randomization settings and get a ROM to use on an emulator. Search for alttp randomizer and you should find one. I don't remember if you had to provide a ROM first though, but that's up to you to get.
@@enkidude It makes it feel unnatural though. If people want to screw a player over, they definitely will. Can someone tell me how I can play ALTTP or Oot random? I have a snes classic and an old school n64. I know NOTHING about tech. So please dumb it down for me if possible. Like what I need to buy, where to get it how to hook it up etc. Thank you. I enjoy watching your stuff.
Nick B I'm sure there's a way to play it on snes classic, but I'm also a tech noob. I play on my laptop. You need an snes emulator, and an original Japanese link to the past 1.0 rom. Go to the website that ryan said. Access the lttp randomizer discord website from there. On the discord you can request a rom download- they'll give you a few characters to type into Google and the first hit is the free rom- a safe download. Once you have the emulator and rom, head back to that first website. You'll create your randomizer games in that website- it's very simple. You download the "seed" that the randomizer creates, drag the file onto your emulator and boom you're playing it. Not needed, but I also use a tracker on a website I found on the discord- I would recommend a tracker. I can highlight what items I find, and it also gives a map of what I can and can't access based on what I have.
If you've modded your SNES classic (there are many guides for this, it's not too tricky), ALTTP randomized works on it. I usually put a bunch of seeds on there at once to play (you must generate a seed for each run).
I don’t know where you can get the ROMs for OoT randomizer but afaik you can play them on the original N64 with an Everdrive cartridge. If you are really interested in this stuff there is a Zelda randomizer community on Discord that will help you.
Some of these folks are referring to using what's called a flash cart to play on an actual console. If you're using a SNES Classic, you will have to do an actual mod to your console to add games/ROM files to your system. It's possible, but takes some research/time. There's a pretty decent cost barrier associated with flash carts and original hardware, so your best entry to randomizer is through an emulator. If you'd like to play alttp randomizer, here's what you need to play it on your computer: -A Super Nintendo emulator program (I recommend SNES9x as it's what's commonly considered acceptable for competitive play) that is compatible. -Some kind of input device. You can play on keyboard if you'd like, but usb to SNES controller adapters exist (even wireless controllers), and many people use PS4 and Xbox gamepads. -A computer that can run an emulator, which does not take high requirements at all. -A ROM file copy of the 1.0 Japanese version of alttp titled "Zelda no Densetsu: Kamigami no Triforce". This is necessary for a long list of reasons. Google is your friend, nobody here can direct you to this file themselves. Whichever emulator you use, open or install it (some are just programs you open) and you'll have a blank window. You would then go to the File menu, and select the game file (a .ROM or .SFC file) that you wish to play. If you just want to play the original alttp (to speedrun! Might as well!), then you would just open the file of that name, go to the input menu at the top of the window to make sure your controller works, and away you go. If you want to play the game randomized, continue to these steps: 1. Go to alttpr.com/ and follow the steps there. I'll summarize them here. 2. Upload your copy of the Japanese 1.0 version where the website prompts you. This is what the website is patching and sending back to you. The website does not provide the base game. Thankfully, as long as you don't move your original file, you can reuse the upload as many times as you'd like without finding it each time. Really convenient. 3. Using the "Generate Game" menu, select the game mode and options you'd like to use. Take note of the gear icon next to Rom Options, you can set some nice aesthetic options like character sprites and heartbeat speed when you have low health. Once you've got everything set up in these settings, you'll be able to download the patched file. You can rename it to anything you'd like, though I think a super long name could be an issue if you play through a modded SNES Classic. I always use something short, and save it somewhere easy to find. I recommend using a separate location from where you keep the rest of your ROM files, for simplicity. Load that file within the emulator, configure your controller, and get to playing! There are more things you can do, including racing the game. You'll find more details on that stuff on the discord server, which is linked on the website. Happy Ice Rod hunting! (PS. Playing OOTR is not in huge ways different besides a much more annoying to deal with emulator solution. Your best bet is to join their discord as well, which you can find through the alttp randomizer discord)
Seriously, fuck crowd control. Randomness isn't a good indicator of talent or good decision-making. I completely lose interest in any race the moment I learn that this is a factor.
Andy, Patty, Willard & Kelsey on Random Misadventures would be a great sitcom
I would pay good money for a season of that
Kelsey's triumphant war screech when she saw the key on the torch was incredible, what a great race.
Lungb
True. Probably never heard a woman be that excited about a video game. I mean that in a positive way
When youre rooting for Andy the entire time and dreading the crowd! The last 10 minutes for both runners SO intense!
I started screaming when Andy almost walked off at the end
i think it would be hillarious if you guys could get it set up to send chicken storms at these guys
suggestion noted!
Awesome!
So any discoveries yet, that might make this a possibility?
Ohko+chickens would be a nice combo
Needs more stuff like bomberman bomb diarrhea or forced reset to title screen/last save.
Suggestion: Hot Potato 1HKO - Picking up an item transfers 1HKO status to other player.

Talk about an insane seed, sheez. XD
Also: hope you don't get demonetized by UA-cam for that Chest-on-Chest action.

What a crazy seed! And after all that they end less than 2 min apart! Too bad for the pee break, could have made the win.

How about rotating controls 90 degrees. I feel it would be tougher then a straight inversion. Also should be easy to include.

Daniel Lawrence they count the non dungeon items collected, and if they end up getting all they can skip certain chests

(Though to be fair it'd be nice to watch a video where Andy doesn't win so I'd bomb the crap out of Andy just to make a race fair.)
@@JazzyWaffles i mean thats...your point is kinda negated by this video
Two great commentators!
wouldnt this more of a race if the crowd effected both of them ? not individually
...Three hours? Reminds me of the crappy seeds I always get. xD
Why do they do a map check when their controls get messed with? Is that some kind of inside joke?
What happens if you collect a sword upgrade if you already have the butter sword through gifts?

No
FOR THE PEOPLE
2:11:49 that squeal, though.
That was a fun race to watch.

Need to explain what an interactive race is in the description or something. Cos I never understand any of the terms used here.
somebody handpicked this seed right?
13:54 Upgrade Sword Lv3 for Patty
12:25 Would be a shame if someone I n v e r t e d Andy’s controller during the Maze Run!! 😗😏
Holy hell that seed was the worst seed I’ve seen and in an interactive race too!
This seems great. I have a few questions though:

2) at around 7:45 Patty got a bomb after staying still. Did we just not see because he DC'd

4)Are they playing the same seed? (I guess that means that they should have the same chests but I am not sure)
crowd is involved by giving them bombs, taking them away, stealing rupees, and other nonsense

To answer your first question go to alttpr.com to get started playing rando tody
Correct me if im wrong but cant you start ice palace with just a lamp (fire attack)?
Nope, only the fire rod or Bombos can kill the ice golums.
Here just to see Patty steam and be mad at Andy
starts 1:48
If he didn't rage out at the big key he coulda won lol so close!
He didn't rage he just had to do some bodily functions
I find it kind of annoying that the narrators keep telling the chat to do specific things instead of just letting them do what they want.
