Man, I remember the day Chris died. I just landed in New Zealand in May for a trip of a lifetime and my brother called me. Was a punch in the gut to hear that my favorite musician died. RIP Chris.
I was sitting here in my living room listening to this just now and my husband yells from the kitchen... "Turn it up! I love Audioslave!" Then proceeds to sing along with the song. He walks in and I turn my phone around to show him that it's a cover but he doesn't pick up on it lol. He said.. " Oh cool.. Chris when he had long hair." I'm going to tell him the truth but it just now happened while I had my phone out so I had to tell ya 😆

We know what you mean. It reminds me of a performance I watched once, I believe you can still UA-cam it. Hart performs Stairway to Heaven in honor of Led Zeppelin, but during the guitar solo the guitarist can clearly play the solo just as good as the original, but he chooses not to and instead plays it in a way that is beautiful all on it's own, yet pays tribute to the great masterpiece before it.

Turned off my Bluetooth headphones so my wife could here it on my phone. She asked “ is that your guy?” I said yeah, Anthony Vincent. She said “ I’m not trying to hear this”. 10 seconds later… “wow, pretty close”. You can tell this gentleman really listens to the vocals and tries to figure out very intricately how the sounds of a voice are made, not only to match the tones of these fabled singers, but to do it in his own way. Its not a guy imitating Chris Cornell. It's a guy who knows how to use his voice so freaking good that he understands how to hit these notes with ease and excellence. You're really great man. This song is a personal favorite in my heart playlist and easily the best version I've ever heard aside from the original.

I record myself often and theres no other way to get better than to hear how you are sounding and just doing it with a crowd. Practicing, believing, enjoying, improving, and try not to kick your own ass.

It's tough because Chris was so talented and beloved, and I've never really been happy with anyone's attempts to cover his vocals before. I can appreciate the efforts, the choice to pay him homage, and the sheer love involved, but THIS cover is the only one that's truly done his work justice. Holy shit, man. This has got to be one of the greatest cover tracks I've ever heard in my life. It is so close to the original that I almost cried, it was like hearing Chris again. Yet, it still has it's own life and soul to it. You made it your own and you absolutely hit it out of the ballpark. Congrats on nailing it. I hope one day you become as big as your talent deserves.

Recently, I found out someone precious to me lost her life on march 22.
She had an accident two weeks before passing away.
We were lovers for a short time, but she needed some time and space, last we spoke was a few months ago after my father passed away.
Though we spoke about seeing each other again, I never had the chance to see or speak to her again, which I regret the utter most.
This song and lyrics describe every feeling it intended to hit, while I’m mourning over her, the world feels so cold.
Though this song is about waiting for death and not about another person, I’m waiting for my time, hopefully to see her again.
Awesome job! And thank you for sharing this beautiful song.
