I went in from zero 2 days ago, and struggled to tell notes apart that were immediately next to each other c/d etc. Then I realised you can create custom levels so I created pairs and trios to help me differentiate before heading back to the set(s) of 4 and in 2 days I can complete the first level 100% every time and can now sing the 4 notes C/D/E/F up and down (Verified by an instrument). Good find.
Hey there Shane ! Are you still using the app ? Does it worth it after 1 year since you started using it ?
@@andrebom1147 +1
@@andrebom1147 I'm using it for 11 months, can say for 100% that this is worth it
Inspiring.. tx bro
Thanks man, it’s easy and convenient for me to start my own ear training
The brilliance of the Functional Ear Trainer is it breaks the scale in two -- degrees 1,2,3,4 and 5,6,7,1. This makes it so easy to hear where any note fits in the scale once you know the tonic.
Your videos are so useful, thanks so much !! :)
Yo man just wanna tell you i loved youre "you've got a friend in me" cover, keep up the great work. 😁
ah thanks!
Always new inspiration for me , thanks 😁👌👌👍
Thanks for the information! This Helps a lot Nathan😁👍
You're very welcome!
Hello dear Nathan!
I want to thank you for suggesting this app
This app is great
Genuinely speaking my first 2-3 days were kind of boring with this app but after about 3-4 days happened the magic
Within 1 week I feel like I mastered the c major scales I can tell any degree of C major just by hearing once not even reapeating to hear
This is just great only thing you need is Just some earphones and only 10minutes a day
The advanced settings in this app is also very enjoyable way to learn it's like a game which you can play even for hours
I wish if you continue to post here more about ear training because now I beleive in you and your methods literally
Please post here more about ear training
After step 6 in the 'Intro games' it start to become more difficult than the 'Basic Training', and I suggest skipping those until "nailing" "the Whole Octave" part in Basic Training. I am pretty amazed in 1) How much I struggled in the beginning and 2) How fast I was making progress. It is a great no-nonsense app!
Thanks! Just downloaded the app earlier and was confused. This explains it perfectly. Can't wait to add ear training to my habits!
@PurpleKiid Beats nope, gotta spend money, if u wanna use melodic dictation, u gotta pay 10€ for that
I love this app! Been using it for a couple months. My ear is slightly on the bad side of the bell curve, and interval training has been brutally difficult for me. Downloaded this app and my progress has been incredible in only a short time. I saw this video, and I was wondering if it was in regard to the app in question
Nice video Nathan! I'll take into account what u said about the 3 pillars, sounds useful!
Definitely! As part of my mailing list, you should've gotten some free bonus lessons on each of the 3 pillars too
@@BeyondTheGuitarAcademy i don't remember, but i'll check it later! Thank u Nathan!
I really like this app too. A friend tipped me off to it and I have enjoyed it since!
Oh cool! Glad to hear people are discovering this one. The app felt like a hidden gem to me
Thanks a lot.... amazing.....at last I have caught the way...
Just received your mail, love your work man keep it up!
awesome, thanks for being on the list!
hi hi there thank you so much for all what you doing bless you more.
Thank you!!!
4:50 happens to me many times...
you know my struggle
Great video
Thanks!
thanks man
Is there option for acoustic guitar instead of piano in functional ear trainer app?
Hi I only know some Barre chords and some basic chords and major scales can i start it now ?
Thank u
I use this and ear gym for chords scales the plus sing when I play you know do re mi I get books on all chords I play the chord then sing a voice or note then play the chord Steve vai said in a video sing when you’re ear training and I listen to a song and got the first 3 chords root note right I been using this for 2 years I think I go to 1 or2 hours it’s so fun
Tnx
Downloading asap , btw if I join fretboard freedom can I access those videos forever?
Fretboard Freedom is just one video, but yes, as long as you save the link you'll have access to it forever. Unless you're referring to the Arrangers Academy? The Arrangers Academy you'll have access to all the courses and content for as long as you remain a member
@@BeyondTheGuitarAcademy I'll sign up for now ff then ,maybe in the future I'll join arrangers academy , Thanks
@@BeyondTheGuitarAcademy Ok so I'm watching the video rn , but I don't see an option to lower the video quality, I don't have wifi so i need to reduce the quality. Is that a problem just for me ?
how can i change it to guitar sound ?
Hi there, first of all sorry for bad English. Tbh you are such a experienced guitarist I ever seen, so I have a question, recently I started play guitar and my skill improve very fast cause I practice everyday. However after that I find it is so hard just to learn new techniques or new song, is that normal for a beginner guitarist, thank you for your precious time spending for my comment.
Yes that's normal. Everything takes time. Make sure you're trying to learn easy "beginner" level songs, not something that's way above your skill level. Keep it up!
Thank you for exposing this app
I go to Custom mode and make my own exercise and then do the all of them because I like to play in one key and master that one key
I pretty much do the same
I've been using that app for a few days. I went from getting around 50% of them correct to now in the 80-95% range. The (2) and (3) are kind of hard to tell apart though but I referenced them to (1) and (4) which kind of helped.
That's fantastic! You're proof that the method works. How did you discover the app?
@@BeyondTheGuitarAcademy It was suggested in one of the 3 Pillars of Arranging E-mailed PDF, which was a very good boost towards my goal.
If the chords cadence is 1-4-5-1 then how come the tonic can be d 4rth one , as 1 and 4rth chord are same ????
yeah
Does it work for singers? I have difficulty perceiving tuning!
This type of ear training is extremely useful for singers. You will be much more aware of the notes you are singing and how they fit into the music. It will be much easier for you to sing the correct pitches and keep them in tune.
How did this work for u as a singer? I want an ear app for singers also
Just wish they would put a little more than just minor and major.
I am not able to understand , what d app plays ,, 1-4-5-1 of c major means what,,, does it mean that the chords played are C F G C again????
Yh I guess
@@nakiarobby3996 but then what we have to guess ??? And how also
@@dushyantsharma4410 well they will play the 1-4-5-1 progression first then after they will play a single note right after which is the note you should play. All you do you listen for the sound of that note and Sing Do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti-do and pick which one sounds right and then after, the rest notes before the correct note they play descending then play over the 1-4-5-1 progression. I hope this was helpful but that's what I notice so far.
Hiii nathaaan!
hiiii!
Love this video but I have to say, you look and sound like the 2.0 version of Thomas Frank (the productivity guy)
Oh yeah that guy i think their brothers
Oh yeah that guy i think their brothers
Can you arrange a song the verse in the key of D and the chrous in C?
I wouldn't recommend it. Unless you find a natural way to transition between keys, it'll likely sound jarring when it changes keys from verse to chorus. Unless the original song changes keys like that, I generally try to keep an arrangement all in the same key
@@BeyondTheGuitarAcademy Thank you for answering and teaching us, u are a great person!
Thomas Frank look likes you 🤔🤔
Holy crap it took 5 minutes for the actual video to start
