Switched all squatting to a ssb and all deadlifting to a trapbar and have loved the results. I'm a beat up 37 and those have allowed me to still load up those patterns without the wear and tear of the straight bar. Would highly recommend 'em.
GREAT STUFF ALWAYS..!!! I RECENTLY DISCOVERED YOUR VIDEOS. I'M A 40+ YEAR OLD GUY THAT YOU'VE INSPIRED TO HIT THE GYM AGAIN.. I'VE BEEN DOING BACK ROWS WITH ALL MY WORKOUTS AS MY WARMUP... IT FEELS AMAZING...THANK YOU....
For a home gym bands are great. I couldn't afford dumbbells after purchasing everything for my garage gym and bands have helped fill that void. And like Brian said, they are nice for cable machine movements: face pulls, various tricep extensions, cable flys etc...
I wish I could train in a gym like Brian's! The amount of times I've requested that my gym buys an SSB bar and still they won't! Such a good variation.. I kill front squats now instead though - and thats not a bad variation either!
@@BrianAlsruheOfficial I actually suggested this to them, same with the the farmers handles - but they gave me some crap excuse about not being able to do it for insurance reasons? I dont know! Certainly wont stop me though - just got to get after it, right? Keep the videos coming Brian! Brilliant as always 👍
I like the time stamping, not to skip to more interesting points in a video, but because I often come back to your videos to show people stuff and can never recall where it is in the video I need to go
fantastic video! how about a super loud bluetooth speaker, chains, and the swiss bar is ranked way too low. if you have bench pressed heavy for years and years, your shoulders are troubled at a minimum probably jacked up totally, swiss bar grip eases the pain!!
Getting a prowler this week and started looking up workouts with prowlers. Found your video for that and needless to say I’ve been binging your content all weekend. Seriously awesome channel thank you 🙏
Awesome as always!! My home gym has deco taken your opinion into account.... and all my lifts thank you!! Not to mention my overall being dangerous!! Have you ever tried the exer genie, it’s such a rare piece of kit but by god I added it to a home gym (where a sled isn’t practical) for arm over arm truck pulls in the garage it’s amazing!! Would love more of our strongman community to know about it.... plus I travel with it!
Where can I find some farmer's like the ones you have now? I'm looking for an "upright/vertically loaded" style that's a bit raised (for toe safety) on feet more likely to slide on grass than catch, much like what you showed. AKA not the barbell type. What brand are your new ones?
Good list Brian... one of the biggest problems with the strongman style of training is that is a VERY expensive list of gear. I would add cambered bar for me - my shoulders are worthless and the cambered bar is even better than the SSB for me.
Anyone who has watched your channel for any amount of time could have predicted the pieces of equipment you highlighted! And because I'm a numbers guy I looked up the cost of these items for those interested: All new from Titan ~$1900 (including bands from elsewhere cheap on Amazon and 150+80lb slam balls instead of sand bags) All new from Rogue ~$3500
HooDRidEWhiteY what about it? Alan did have a tremendously bad experience with Titan products, but I know of many many more people including myself who have had no problem with Titan. They’re a great budget option for home gyms and their quality and customer service has greatly improved. That said, I can’t deny that Rogue equipment quality and customer service are phenomenal and even better, but it does comes at a price.
Really liked your top 10. I prefer the elitefts ssb just because of the padding is better and the rogue is a little wider in the yoke and hurts some people’s shoulders. Also people that have trouble doing a JM press can use a ssb for the JM
Axle works your grip even on bench press because, per your advise, you are squeezing that bar as hard as you can. Having twice the circumference to cover with your hand, you are putting more pressure throughout your hand and activating more of your forearm to squeeze the bar and thus using your grip more, even if the weight is mostly in your palm. Which is harder to squeeze and hold for time: a dumbbell or a dumbbell with fat grips? Having said that, if the user isn't squeezing as hard as they can, then you are correct, there is no difference between benching standard bar or axle for grip strength.
Crazy thought. When you were talking about how versatile the yoke is, I started thinking that it might be used as a sled if you didn't have the money to get both. Have you tried it or heard of anyone trying it?
I was expecting kettlebells, tire and sledgehammer somewhere. Ok, joking about the tire and sledgehammer, they are cool and useful but not as much as the others. But for kettlebells I was really expecting them. Thanks for the video, Brian! Cheers!
@@BrianAlsruheOfficial ah, my bad then... I always remember the 150 lbs swings and due to BJJ I think about TGU plus the conditioning with ktbs. Thanks for answering!

Best thing I have bought was my yoke bar from your previous recommendation. Too many people run there mouths about doing "real" squats with a regular barbell. If Brian Shaw uses it I think it is gtg for me.
I’m having a hard time deciding between a multi grip bar with neutral handles or one with angled handles. Does anyone have any opinions or suggestions?
You can get some plate loaded adjustable dumbells fairly cheap. I have 5-100lb adjustable and they take care of me without taking up a lot of space in my garage. Some day I'll build a dumbell rack and start filling it out.
Brian’s channel is criminally underrated. Such good content!
Thanks man, I really appreciate that!

That handless safety bar squat is very impressive

SS bar is great but i have a love hate with it. absolutely engages your core more and pushes you forward.
its a really good core exercise if you let go of the ssb
I see you in every comment section jesus ahahah
How are you here too wtf
Your voice is sounding 100% better and you are back to your 2yrs+ ago size. So glad the recovery is showing. Keep on it.

SSB bar....I am SOOO glad my gym finally broke down and bought one. I love it. Lifesaver on my shoulders for sure.
The SSB is my favorite of all of them. Can use that bar for everything!
If you are doing crossfit the next equipment you should buy is a wheelchair.
Neckbraces sold separately
Yoke for limbo.

Thanks! This was super helpful. I’m slowly building up my arsenal. Just bought my yoke ! 🎉 now the only thing I’m missing is a keg.
Better get to drinking 🍻 Our strongman team throws a kegger after every meet so we have plenty!

The padding and spacing are way better on the EliteFTS (and the Titan SSB V2) are way better than the Rogue. Used both, and the FTS is the best.

Which barbell (s) do you suggest for strongman? Hybrid or power bar?
Axle works your grip even on bench press because, per your advise, you are squeezing that bar as hard as you can. Why do you always use one bumper as the first plate? For deadlift i understand, but why do so for squat or press?
In case they drop. We have radiant heat in the floor and it dissipates the impact.
