@@Angler233 yes that’s correct… that is why we have designers like Murray from @trigpoint creating lighter products for the market. That is also why we have been utilising battery technologies like lithium to greatly reduce weight. Another amazing eposide of this built, will there be a new snorkel or just factory air intake, is it parabolic leaf spring on the rear, cant wait to see this rig in Sydney 4x4 show
@@jenningstim90 💯… the DPF is in guys. I still have the DPF in the Mighty 79 and won’t take it out of either. It needs to stay legal. I know that’s a bit boring, but that is unfortunately how it is. The team did an awesome job.
@OffroadImages if it is, (which I think it's not or hollowed out) they've done a great job, or fudged the figures. Either way. If it drives well and you're happy. Then good for you. Envious

Are we ignoring the fact that this kit upgrade costs over $23 000 .the inios granadeer can hit close to the same figures with just a tune .you would have to be a fool to buy a 79
400000km on my 79 now and all I've had to fix is a leaking water pump and shackle pins. Other than that just regular servicing. There's a reason 79s have an unbeatable reputation for reliability.
@@Rob.Salta90 you really have to look at what your doing. I had a Toyota Prado many years ago and the alternator failed after 6 months. Bit misleading. No way you get more power or torque without burning more fuel/energy. Can be more efficient at converting that extra fuel for more energy. Simple, you don't get something for nothing.
@@colinross6259 I can guarantee you do get much better results as I have been running a similar setup in our current cruiser for over 150,000 kms and everything about it is better, including fuel economy.
So glad to see Jake Mexon and his team from Tuneworks working together with you Michael. He is the only Diesel performance shop to be trusted in NSW.
That’s a huge compliment… but I was really impressed with everything Jake and his team did to get this thing moving. 👍
Thanks legend! So happy with how this thing turned out! 👌
Definitely needed a power upgrade with all that added weight.
We buy these as a cab chassis and will always be adding weight… that is for sure 👍
Our aim should be less weight not more.

@arb4x4 OME Parabolics… we are getting the @safari4x4 new snorkel for sure 👍
See you there too legend! We will have our dyno!
I wish I won Lotto. It needs bonnet struts.
I'm hanging for the new ARB front bar!
It has them now 👍
Here I am in Canada being like WTF Toyota for not bringing these to Canada. My Jeep will have to do for now.
Proove the dpf is still there.!!! Id be shocked if it is!!!
They had it out to hollow it out, no way you can make that power and torque with it intact.

What is the total cost of this build? I’m guessing you’ve already passed $200k.
Is that engine the 2.8 diesel?
Its the V8, you can see they fitted 8 injectors, and the 2.8 is not available with a manual gearbox, only auto in the Landcruiser
@@gavinrcolpitts1988yep def the v8
Sorry… thought it would be obvious but looking back at it. We should have announced the engine. Yes it’s the V8 for sure 👍

Waste of time putting duel 4" exhaust with a DPF. Is that torque figure corrected? Does it allow for the reduction gearing in the portals?
@@DieselAddiction that’s the figure at the wheels / tyres on the dyno
Torque figure is corrected my man!
The exhaust is a show piece of what we can do, not just function. Mick came to us with a brief, and we nailed it. 😊

But the Portals! I wonder if Marks would make them for a Grenadier? ..... one PowerBall and I'd have Portals but in an auto. No clutch dumping
I can appreciate a good build as much as the next person but you’ve got to be off your head to buy a 79.
Both are nice vehicles. But let's see how each are doing at 300,000 miles. That will tell the real financial story...

Hahha grenadeer 😂😂😂 gayest looking 4wd on the market
Wtf... 311nm on a v8 ....thats crazy undertuned hey im surprised at how low the numbers are from factory
Yep… Toyota really delivered this conservatively hey
Better fuel economy, better performance, completely void Toyota 5-7 year engine warranty - wins all around really
There’s not much Toyota left for them to warrant anyway😂

If you can afford a build like this your not concerned about Toyota warranty mate.

Sorry mate but the V8 is absolutely hands down the worst diesel engine Toyota ever made and everyone knows it.
There is nothing mighty about the V8 79
Typical hater! One of the best engines ever made. Absolutely bullet proof with the right mods!
