I actually learned how to ask follow up questions from Number Sense Routines. For example, "How did you find your answer?" I just natural started asking them "How" questions throughout the day.

I learned to use different questioning techniques guided reading in "Who is Doing the Work?" by Jan Burkins. Another fast read but lots of great info.
