Most of the greatest NBA leapers in the world have around a 42" vert. Think about it this way - a player's head who is 6' 6" is 42" below the rim - for that 6' 6" guy to get chin level with the rim he'd have to have at least a 52" vert which I've never seen. And for a 6 foot guy to get chin level to the rim he'd have to have around a 58" vertical. If that's the case - lets go find Bigfoot.

As far as NBA players, they don't need more than a 42 inch vertical because they're already tall. They need to know how to play basketball well, not to set high jump records. Because 10' = 120 inches, 5'11" = 71 inches. 120-71 = 49 inches to get the top of your head at the rim, he's clearing the rim at around nose level if his head wasn't pointed upwards, which adds a few inches, which therefore would be in the 50" zone (around 53-54) but since that rim is 9'10", that would deduct his overall vertical by 2" if we use that shot at 1:05 which would still leave him in the 51-52" vertical range.
you obviusly have no idea about basketball there are a few guys in the nba who can reach there head at or above the rim, for example Gerald green, lebron in his prime or blake griffin
