      True, but I will say I’ve tested out of most all of the first 2 courses (out of the 5). They were very simple to me and I didn’t learn much. I did watch all of the videos though. I worked at Microsoft in IT support so I guess this was just an easy add to my cert list. The last 3 have been more enjoyable and have learned a few things for sure!

    Hi Nicole. Thank you so much for this review. I am a 27 year old old healthcare admin assistant wanting to switch to IT. I have absolutely zero knowledge and experience in I .T. Do you think going through this certificate will help me feel a little less lost when it comes time to study the A+? Unsure what my long term goal is but I’m currently interested in Cloud/ Cyber Security and Network Admin so I eventually want to do that. Sorry for the long post, like I said I an a newbie and I don’t know anyone in this field to talk to. Thanks again for the informative review!

    • @nicoleenesse
      @nicoleenesse  2 роки тому +16

      It will give you a good overview to see if you like it or not. Some people have actually gotten jobs from it also. A+ is a ton of info, and I personally hated it! There are way more interesting topics than A+ in tech so I understand feeling at loss. This is definitely a better overview of IT operations and may spark your interest in a certain discipline that then you could pursue.

    I used to be certified in CompTIA as an IT Pro years ago ( only A+ ) but that expired in 2012. Since I had the classroom experience at an actual technical school including hands-on training and building and servicing computer hardware and software, I wonder if the Google cert would be ok for me as it is much cheaper than going back to a physical school again? Any thoughts? I let me cert expire and I became a sub-contractor working in new construction but it's killing my body being as I am now almost 51 years old. Even a cushy desk job answering phones would be preferable at this point.

    I just finished in a month and I work 10 hour days at least 5 days a week. I did it purely as an alternative source of information and enrollment to WGU. I'll have over 4 months of nonstop studying CompTIA exams by the time school starts and feel well on my way so far. The knowledge I've accumulated from various LinkedIn Learning and YT sources along the way is encouraging and enjoyable, though I'll know how well it's paid off in August.

The program itself is okay but I don’t really feel like I have learned enough in order to pass the Comptia exam. I think more of a hands on program like at a technical college would probably be more helpful for myself but you may learn quicker or grasp the concept of things a little better than myself. Overall I do think it is a great starter to kind of know what you’re getting into and it kind of delves into many different branches of IT so you can kind of get an idea of what you would like to specialize in. I hope this helps. I definitely wouldn’t say that it is not worth it. It is a good starter for sure. If you do decide to take the program then I would love to hear your thoughts on it afterwards. 😀

    I like your review Nicole however the new versions of Lennox specifically Linux mint are very user-friendly I've used it as a Windows 8 replacement and also used it when Windows 11 come out a home user can you use Linux but you have to put a little bit of time into it and have a brain between your ears I've used Linux since 2017 people generally run away from it because you have to apply yourself and work hard to learn it it is 2024 and I'm still learning stuff that's my two cents

    As someone whose almost done with the Google IT support course and having friends who've finished it well before me. It's not likely you'd get a job with just this cert. Definitely would though if you got your ccna or comptia certs on top of this one. If you're lucky enough to get in touch with a desperate employer who can't find people to hire you may get lucky and land a job. It's a great course though if you're hopping into IT with little or no tech know how. And it's one extra cert under the belt to add when looking for work. I have yet to see if it alone will land me a job. Probably not. Hasn't landed any of my buddies a job by it's self yet. Planning on getting my A plus though after I get this cert. Which I'd recommend others to do as well. Good bang for your buck though. Especially if you can get in when they offer the course for 40 bucks a month.

    This realistic video. Awesome video.
    So In short.
    What I got from this is.
    Is the cert worth getting. Yes and No.
    It’s not worth it because it cheap and easy to get. And higher paying employers won’t recognize it, take it seriously, and will look down on it.
    And
    Yes.. kinda. If you’re in a dead end minimum wage job with no degree. And if you’re lucky enough to find and employer who is desperate, and or to land a help desk job in a call center. 😅
