  • After slashing all the weeds on the trip down here, come for a ride on the newly cleared line back to Mt Pleasant on a dull winter afternoon.

    Superb! I love the way the railway is very natural and not filled with plastic buildings and figures. This is effectively a ‘real’ railway and it feels like one. A real credit to you. 👍👍👍

    Man i love this so much, it looks so peaceful and real. All those overgrown side rails and abandoned looking stops remind me so much of my childhood when i explored places like this, railroad that has become so one with its surroundings have a strange fascination for me. Thank you for showing, hoping for more. :)

    Lovely stuff! I think we might be needing a diagram showing how this all fits together (and where some of those tantalisingly glimpsed sidings go to).

    I just finished watching your video with the very inventive, maintenance of way weed eater. That was very cool! And this video just popped up as well. I remember thinking during the other video that I sure hope there’s a cab ride view through the jungle. And voila! My wish has been granted! Thank you for sharing!

      Yes. I'd love to know just how long it is and where it actually runs (garden? Parkland? Farmland?) There are also some quite spectacular engineering features which can't have been easy to build - to say the least. Thank you for a very interesting journey.

    the weed slasher made the path for the train just the right size to make it feel like a jaunt through a forest. like it was a purpouse-built railway line in said forest. the rocky tunnels and the little things like the wood on the bridges gave it all that "human-scale" that i feel is hard to pull off with miniature trains.

    I love it. It’s so raw and natural like a jungle yet uses things you might find around a property like bricks and scraps. Not necessarily to scale but useful and appealing.

This has to be the coolest railroad I have ever seen and I need a schematic or layout of it immediately, I also need to know if these other tracks are abandoned or actually functional and just need to be trimmed. I also subscribed immediately because this is absolutely amazing. Sorry for my demands, but this is absurdly awesome.

      I do need to make that track diagram! This video covers basically the whole main line, the other tracks you see are sidings or crossing loops. They could be restored to working order if the vegetation was slashed, but they're mainly used when other people come over and there's multiple trains running at once that need to pass each other.

    Do you have many derailments inside the tunnels? I'm wondering how easy they are to access if you need to retrieve something.

    • @melbournesparks3828
      @melbournesparks3828  2 місяці тому +1

      Luckily no, the most common cause of derailment is hitting something on the track, and at least the tunnels protect from that. You can kind of get access if you really need to, though it's pretty awkward.

  • @aaronl_trains_and_planes

    • @melbournesparks3828
      @melbournesparks3828  3 місяці тому +1

      The actual answer is it just wouldn't make much of a difference. There's a big risk of off target effects, and most of the weeds are invasive oxalis introduced from Europe which regenerates from underground tubers so herbicide is ineffective.

    • @FishplateFilms
      @FishplateFilms 3 місяці тому +1
