  • If you are looking to start a weed control and fertilization business, you may need to start thinking about the equipment needed. I share with you my thoughts on spray rigs as well as ride on spreader sprayers. I have a 400 gallons split tank spray rig from Graham Spray Equipment. I also use a ride on machine as well. I recommend trying to get both a spray rig and a ride on machine if possible. I discuss different size spray tanks. I also share some insight on the benefits of a split tank. Weed Control is a profitable industry. The equipment can last for many years and generate a lot of money.

    I just bought a 200 gallon Lesco for $900 up in Birmingham a month ago. Just got my OTPS and plan on doing pre emergent applications this fall with it. So far the sprayer itself has only needed a few small parts and a good bath

    Hey Jason.....great video and good info. I agree about the 200 gallon. I have a 100 gallon skid and its just not quite enough, but it works for my half ton truck. To step up to a 250 gallon tank, need at least a 3/4 ton. Here is a question for you,; can we get a video series on tree and shrub applications? its the area I have the least experience in....both in application process and herbicides.

      Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of experience with tree and shrub applications. Maybe I can find a guest to help with that

    Definitely a great field. Purchased a 200 gallon skid sprayer to start with from
    Northern tool. However I’ve been in contact with Graham regarding the WHOLE SET UP including the truck for the very near future. Thanks sir!

    Hey i just got a John deere 36 inch stand on mower, it works great. The only problem that I am trying to fix is when their are bumps sometime the mower skids the grass. How do I fix that to not happen? Thanks!

    My favorite set up is a 300 gallon tank and a Perma Green on the B&B rack hanging off the back of the truck. The smallest flatbed Isuzu will do the trick in
    A The Dry box from boss snow equipment

    It's late August and our contracts with the government never materialized this year and we need to find revenue. How do get new residential or even commercial customers now?

    I think I would like the spray tank rig for small yards. I have the Z Spray Max and love it. Two 30 gallon tanks and can get 2 acres coverage per tank, it's Calibrated @ 1gal./2,900 s.f. I mix my chemicals the morning of spraying in the Z Spray. I have a 325 gallon water tote in the bed of my truck for refills when needed. I only keep a hundred, hundred and fifty gallons extra water on hand. I use a battery powered drill with a long paint stirrer to agitate while mixing the chemicals. I pull an enclosed trailer that I keep chemicals in for the day and keeps the Z Spray out of the weather. I like the trailer for fertilizer as well. Never know when it's going to rain in the south. Keeps it all dry. I may eventually give Graham's a call one day. They're in my home state as well. Thanks for the great content Jason! 👍

      I also have the Z max. It certainly beats walking all those properties. I am also calibrated at 15 gpa. When you say you mix up your chemicals the morning of spraying, you are talking about the 60 gallons of solution that the Z spray holds right? And that gives you 4 acres of coverage. When you spray that out, you use the extra water in the tote, and you have to re mix chemicals again, right? Wasn’t sure if you mixed in bulk, and pumped it into the Z spray, or you just mixed up a new batch in the Z spray? Another 60 gallons worth. Hope you understand what I am trying to ask. Lol!

    Have you seen the Lesco 300 units? I believe they are a rebranded Ferris/ground logic. If so what are your thoughts? I wanted a z spray but they are saying 8 months to 1 year on ordered units with no price guarantees…

    Cool video Jason. When you say "calibrate your sprayer" do you mean adjusting the volume that the pump puts out? Or does it mean adjusting your walking speed/spray pattern?

    • @lawncarelife
      @lawncarelife  Рік тому +1

      All of the above. You basically need to know how much liquid you are spraying per thousand square feet

    Thanks for making this video! What is your opinion on having a 200 gallon on a small trailer. I drive a Toyota Tacoma and my bed space is used for my walk behind and other mowing equipment

    • @nickspradley508
      @nickspradley508 Рік тому +1

      It would need to be tandem axle realistically. The GVWR of most trailer axles is 3,500 pounds and that includes the trailer itself. 200 gallons of water weighs roughly 1600 pounds and the skid sprayer itself is likely another 600+ pounds

    • @lawncarelife
      @lawncarelife  Рік тому +1

      I agree with the other comment about the GVW of the trailer. You would be pushing the limit a little on a single actual trailer. Other than that, I think it is fine. It is a little bit inconvenient to haul a trailer but that does give you plenty of room for fertilizer and or a ride on spreader sprayer

    What if you have a small family lawn mowing biz with about 60 clients. Lets say 10 of them want treatments. Do you recommend getting 2 push sprayers...one for herbicides/insecticides and the other for fertilizer? 2000 - 5000 sq ft lawns on average

    • @alexreyes9628
      @alexreyes9628 Рік тому

      I’ve heard push sprayers aren’t that good. I could be wrong but typically I haven’t seen them in use professionally. If it just a small group I think you’d be better off with a push spreader ( if you wanna do granular fert) and a 50-100 gal tank to spray your herbicides.

    I like the advice you're giving, but maybe you should advice people that the cost of sprayer rig with all the equipment is very expensive. Maybe recommend buying a good used sprayer rig.
