Indeed it really was the last TRUE Rainbow Six title. Vegas and Vegas 2 were... fun.... but not the same. And we don't talk about that other one... lool
Hot take: Siege was more of a rainbow six game than Vegas was.
Sure Clancy would hate it, it's Cartoony, but it's gameplay philosophy of high stakes and tactics, makes it closer to the over the top action of Rainbow six vegas
If we got a modern take on Raven Shield, I would have no qualms having something like siege on the multiplayer mode

@@potatoesblink3299I hate that I agree with this, but after replaying Vegas 1 it just feels less like R6 and more like Doom with a really terrible cover mechanic. Vegas 2 at least smoothed out the jank and made your teammates more than just fishing lures to spawn enemies with, but it's still not quite right. Siege almost could have resurrected the feel of Raven Shield but then they saw dollar signs and that flew out the damn window

Used to play the hell out of this game back in the day and it spoiled me. Truly the best. Rainbow six jumped off a cliff afterwards and no other game could replace what this glorious game offered.
Honestly this game is better than ground branch and ready or not. Maybe not when those games finish development but as of 2023 Raven shield is king of single player tactical shooters
Actually, if I recall correctly… some of the devs from Ground Branch worked on Raven Shield.
Oh yeah. Love this game. I wish the game still had 4 teams like the original and rogue spear and not reduce to 3 teams but this is still great. Hopefully Ground Branch will get to this height and exceed it.
Ground Branch has been in dev hell for 15 years. But its still fun. We run our Rainbow Six 3 servers but we also run Ground Branch servers.

Oh man I miss this game. Raven shield was the first online multiplayer experience I had. Around 2005-2006 I found the game in a discount bin and played it religiously. When I explored the multiplayer and realised I had to update it, there was only 1 pvp and 1 coop server left in Aus. Still to this day, the best small community and gaming experience I've ever had from a game
This was my fav childhood game. Ngl i have around 3000+ hour in Siege,but it feels like they are not even from the same series. At least not now. Siege felt like am R6 game when it was still new. And operators looked like actual soldiers
Ai in this game is 10x better than in ready or not

They're about on par, because enemies are all John Wick on crack, while the friendly AI is mentally disabled.
IMHO, still too many tac shooter devs focused on eye candy and not:
1. Getting enemy AI to react realistically, i.e if they see a teammate go down, they should be finding cover/ concealment and getting ready to smoke you and your team.
2. Implementing old-school Rainbow Six's mission planning mechanics, and SWAT 4's squad control system.
SWAT4 Modded voice command system too. That shit is godly.

Playing this game with 100.000 xbox live players... and owning most of them.... = best memories. Everyone with xbox live was playing Ravenshield non-stop.
Later many other games came out and friends got spread out over these games, which somewhat destroyed the initial first year vibe.
I remember the sequel to this game, Lockdown was one of the worst video games ever created.

Pc was a different beast thannthe console version. This is still awesome. The gun layouts alone are time consuming. Playing on mission mode with 16 people was great. Things could escalate quickly if someone made a sound. 😂.

I cannot stress how much shit would come out of me if a game like this got launched. We got Ready or Not for SWAT. Ground branch is kind of like it but there isn’t a planning phase. Swear that’s like 80% of the fun is planning something for an hour. Then watching your dudes get wiped after 10 mins in mission coz of one dude with a shotgun. Good old times.

It does not, but there are lots of solid singleplayer mods out there. This is specifically geared towards multiplayer play.

to me this game is the real deal this and swat 4 counter strike while popular it feels arcade when compared to these two especially rainbow six raven shield one bullet can kill you no matter what armor you are wearing

Used to love it in the day, but it has severe AI issues.
Less intuitive controls than the Rainbow Six Vegas games.
Could never fully get into this game. AI would aimbot you and armor was useless

I been playing this game and so far, I liked all the misson expect for the Penthouse Mission bc of the annoying force stealth.
I am currently on the Penthouse mission. Do wish you could equip a scope with suppressor rather then having to chose bewteen the two. Only major issues this game has.
This game would really benefit from remake. Adding more weapons customisation and armour customise (like in Vegas 2).

I grew up playing Rogue Spear. It was my first game I ever played online and it was absolute bliss and game changing. Raven Shield just took it to the next level.
That Mk23 pistol was amazing

Everyone in these comments should try out ground branch. It plays like a modernized and refined raven shield, the precise-yet-heavy movement, and gun play will make you feel right at home.
But they dont have singleplayer campaign.

Yes, I use steam. Then download the patch in my pinned comments and follow installation instructions

Ready or Not is absolutely nothing like this game. Not with atmosphere nor replayability. Fun game yes. But.
RoN simulates special police forces, R6 is about an international counter-terror paramilitary unit, different SOPs and ROE, leading to a significantly different experience.
Also the feel and direction of the game's campaign narrative is nothing like Ready or Not.
I played this game for many hours over 10 years ago, Forgotten memories came back watching this. Username jasmat.
I played the living crap out of raven shield, Im talkin thousands of hours. I completely agree its still the best one out there.
If you played in any pistols only servers you probably saw one of my user names there at some point.
