I love Gabrielle‘s story of how she became interested in Mexico. It’s very similar to my own story from back in 1978. I went down and spent a month with the family in Guadalajara. My Mexican sister then came up to my house for a month in California. The next year I spent the summer in Venezuela as an exchange student, and after that I went back and stayed with my original Mexican family in Guadalajara over the years. I have been back several times and taken my daughters to visit as well. It is funny how taking that fork in the road when you are young and impressionable, changes your life. I just retired, and I’m in the process of getting my temporary residency visa to go live in Mexico now. I contacted my Mexican family to see where they would suggest for me, and they have suggested the Lake Chapala region. So this summer, I’m going down to find a place to live in one of the towns on Lake Chapala, or maybe Guadalajara itself. That is where my Mexican family lives. I can so relate to what Gabrielle is talking about. Many people don’t understand why I want to go live in Mexico. There are quite a few naysayers, yet there are very supportive friends as well. That short exchange program that my parents let me go on when I was 17 years old changed the course of my life. I am very much looking forward to the new adventures I will have in my early retirement years in Mexico.
Gabrielle, you are an amazing young woman.

The Lake Chapala area is great. Beautiful climate, quite serene towns, and much more. Don't listen to the naysayers, follow what you believe to be right. It'll all work out in the end!😁

Great interview, Gabrielle is very interesting. I'm sorry, but the dog is a scene stealer! The beige and white dog is relaxing the whole time but Sochi just isn't having it, lol.

Since Amlo has been president, the minimum wage has gone up year on year. I’ve heard that is the main driver of increased housing costs.

Hmm, interesting. We have not heard that come up, but it does make sense. Thanks for the insight
