Heading there in March '25 to look at moving from U.S. Also grew up in So. Cal. with many, many Hispanics and have always loved Mexico.

Learning the language is definitely the most Important thing. I spent a bit of time in a Spanish-speaking country a few years back and achieved a C1 level of Spanish (starting at age 50), and the benefits of that are enormous. When I recently went to Mexico, everyone understood me and I them, and once you're "on the inside" you're treated differently. People no longer look at me as just an American tourist. In Mexico, I have not been gringo-priced. And traveling to other parts of Latin America has been phenomenal. I had no trouble communicating in Argentina and Uruguay. Learning Spanish even helped me out when I was visiting Brazil. Though I had trouble understanding their Portuguese, they understood my Spanish just perfectly.

We strongly agree. How did you learn the language?

    • @goldvideo

@@dreamlifeinMexico In 2008 I went to Madrid to study for three months. Then two years later I returned for three more months. Then I moved to a different Spanish speaking country and made sure to interact with locals, not stay in a bubble of only US Americans or Canadians, and I also attended many language exchange events. I just kept pushing through. It CAN be done.

@@newlife8318 Thanks so much. That being written, I learn new words in Spanish every single day, so achieving native speaking ability is elusive. But I have learned to appreciate every step of the way.

Been here 2.5 years and I endorse this video. I am quite involved in the community. A good place to live nicely for under $2,500. per month (I did say you can live for less). Good place if you can survive the brutal temperatures and humidity (often 90F. & 79%) in the summers.

I’m a Mexican citizen living in Mexico. And I’m wondering if any Mexican who lives in the US had ever been referred to as a expat? Because you did say there’s 10 million Mexicans living in the states, but I didn’t hear you say expat Mexicans living in the states. So just curious.

    • @dreamlifeinMexico

We don't know. We've never taken a poll of Mexicans living in the states and what they call themselves. If they call themselves expat or immigrant is up to them.

And is it a challenge to make a profit with so much bar competition in PV?
