if i had 56k to spend, then i'd easily go with the kia since it has the most performance and looks the part, but since i don't have that money to spend, then i'd really go with the camry since its such good value for money. Holden is just dreaming thinking that anyone would pay that money for that commodore...
I think that the commodore didnt get enough of a chance here... it has all of the features meantioned on the stinger! And more! Having actually driven one of these cars they are a hoot to drive! I actually people have a drive of this car before they judge.... disgusted that aussies have abandoned holden so quickly , it's not built here but the brand is still an icon trying to make cars for aussies as best as they can.... HOLDEN ALL THE WAY
LOVE the looks of the Camry. Love the fact it's now a fun car to drive. The interior is very stylish and for value it can't be beat with its power and features. I like the Kia because it's RWD and turbo but other then that not sure it will age well
Very good review and in the end, a very difficult choice. The heart is saying Stinger, the head is saying, the Camry is $18 000 cheaper and will be very reliable. The new err Commodore and Superb also look good, but, OMG I think I just picked the new V6 Camry!
So it's not worth paying 60k for a luxury sports sedan that has 365hp and can fit the entire family and has a big enough boot to go on holidays? Not to mention the 7year unlimited km warranty.
The new commodore isn’t too bad as car in general but I just feel it shouldn’t have that name anymore. It needs to be called something else, the name should have gone with the end of Australian production.
Millen Rogers holdens were not always commodores though , the commodore badge was born in around 1978 before that they were kingswoods , premiers etc ...so commodore when you think about it really was not that iconic
Would I like to have a Vectra's successor named as a Commodore? NO! I would reconsider if Holden kept the Insignia name. I'm down to either Skoda Superb or Kia Stinger but Kia has come a long way and have finally built a good car.
Might want to check some of your info only the Commodore and Skoda were flagship models, the Stinger is mid spec and the camry is 2nd from top. Still the mid spec Stinger knocked off the VXR imagine if you forgot about price and tested the GT model. Oh I've driven the Stinger a few times and never found it tail happy, oh and the Commodore wasn't built in Melbourne it was built in Adelaide.
Its an honest review, however, I think you guys were a bit lax on the Kia Stingers interior and a bit harsh on the Commodores interior. I mean the gauge cluster in the Stinger is terrible, its direct from the Optima, also low down there is plenty of hard plastic. It's a great effort but not the best interior in the line-up. I'd actually put it last in terms of quality and the Supurb would probably come first.
NZ police just picked the skoda to replace the commodores, pretty sure all these were in the tested models (other than the zb obviously), and apparently even the drivers preffered the superb over the others overall.
When are manufacturers gonna realize that shiny black plastic is a sin when it comes to interior design. I was loving the look of that Holden until I noticed the console was a sea of that shiny crap that just going to show off dust, fingerprints and microscratches.
They always talk about sportiness. Most people also want comfort, and quietness, or if the engine sound is a good one. Like how people buy the Gt86/brz and then they're for sale soon after because they got bored of the sportiness due to more noise and bumps that come with non luxury sporty vehicles...
Yes Kia look clearly on top of those comparisons but however who will pay that much money like 63-65k to buy Kia stinger for fun and no driver license points left after a year. Resale value and liability plus lowest cost, still really powerful V6 so i will pick Toyota Camry this time among those. Good looking car and when you foot down on new camry v6, ohhh fwd make the job done easy with plenty horsepower there, test drive and feel yourself. I thought Kia will not sale a lot Stinger with that much cost that why we have this reviews to compare, still support Caradvice.
I like the design of the Vauxhall... I mean Opel Insignia... I mean Buick Regal... I mean Holden Commodore. Talk about milking the cow for all it’s worth 🤔
In Europe, the Commodore WXR ( Insignia GSI here) has the same engine used in the Astra OPC/Astra WXR, but slightly down tuned to 260hp, with same torque, @ 400nm. The Kia Stinger would be useless during the winter, alot!!! of wheelspin and tail happy as hell!!😩
Not good enough effort Holden. You have let Australia down with this half baked effort. I'll give the brand approx 4-5 years before you fold in Australia. What you are selling now is not upto the competition at all. Shame.
It is indeed more an SV6, but when you walk into a Holden dealer with an SS trade, the VXR is what they are going to try and flog to you. Sad as that is.
Art Key Well, I am a simple guy. I see what I see :-). Toyota has most car sales in this country than any other manufacturer. Please don't tell me all of them are taxi's :D.
so true, love Toyota than any other brand. there is a solid reasoning not just reliability for it to have more sales world wide than any other competitor of its class. at least it won't die whereas KIA will be another fail brand as it has been since '73. Never ever will buy K-cart Hyundai
The Kia is beautiful and I feel like I should like it but I don't. Something about it makes me think "na" maybe its too big? Maybe its the brand? Idk but I can't bring myself to like it
Why are all car reviewers are so obsessed with hard/soft plastics. I don't think I've ever hopped into a car and start pocking the dash , door cards etc.
The Camry is the worst they’re boring and repetitive vehicles no matter what you do it’s still a Camry that you’d see with a tissue box in the back window
Got my zb turbo for $19k. Awesome to drive and goes harder than my Fg. Why throw in a turbo v6? Of course it will be fastest. Zb were designed by Aussie and tested here in Australia. Stop sulking
zanc Vandam if you get a chance, check one out in person and you will soon change your mind. I think being white in color didn't help it in this video.
None of them should be compared to the Commodore or Falcon, They don't come with anything more than the VF-2 and there is way less room inside them. Yet the price is around the same as a Calais V, Doesn't make sense, we are paying the same money for Smaller cars!!!! So when you look at $$$ for what you get, then you may as well stick with the Camry, it has everything(maybe less power) but is WAY CHEAPER than the others.
THE STINGER DOES LOOK IMPRESSIVE, BUT THE OPAL/HOLDEN IS MY PICK.
if i had 56k to spend, then i'd easily go with the kia since it has the most performance and looks the part, but since i don't have that money to spend, then i'd really go with the camry since its such good value for money. Holden is just dreaming thinking that anyone would pay that money for that commodore...
It has more features then the same there tho
Watching this 5years later funny, that opel commodore was disaster, long term the Camry is the best
Kia has hit it right outta the ball park with the Stinger
Kevin Prince nice.
That was the most honest review Ive seen on the new Commodore since its release was great to see well done Drive!
Cheers Matthew :)
For me I would not even consider any of the other pretenders... Only the Stinger with its playful Rear wheel drive platform can compete.
What was the Camry pretending to be, other then a Camry?
Pretending to be less of a old man's car... but fails.
The seats on the VXR are beautiful!!!
Great honest review. First review of the new commodore that didn't sound like a paid advertisement (caradvice).
Thanks Ben!
I think that the commodore didnt get enough of a chance here... it has all of the features meantioned on the stinger! And more!
Having actually driven one of these cars they are a hoot to drive! HOLDEN ALL THE WAY
I just bought a Stinger and love it! Kudos Kia
How do you feel after 1 year of use? I am thinking to upgrade from Aurion :)
I have both the stinger and commodore, I have no complaints, coming from an ss commodore and c250
LOVE the looks of the Camry.
Love the fact it's now a fun car to drive. The interior is very stylish and for value it can't be beat with its power and features. I like the Kia because it's RWD and turbo but other then that not sure it will age well
I'll keep my VF SSV Redline, can't beat a V8 sound ;)
Its a real car to. Was made in Australia . Will outlast these shitboxes.
They fall apart out of the factory. Holden was over priced, over rated trash
@@Rob13Oz so is the imported shit.
The Stinger seems to do everything well (space, comfort, features, and performance)..... maybe not the best but very good
why is it they tested the top of the range of every car except the Stinger? The Stinger GT is still under 60k and is much nicer on the inside.
Tilz Perera GT model is around 65k new
@@generaldamage3282 Actually it's $59,990 before orc. I know because I bought one of the first ones back in 2017.
thanks for your unbiased review
No worries :)
Very good review and in the end, a very difficult choice. The heart is saying Stinger, the head is saying, the Camry is $18 000 cheaper and will be very reliable. The new err Commodore and Superb also look good, but, OMG I think I just picked the new V6 Camry!
When it comes to price Camry got it right but the rest of them are dreaming.
so true mate.
And the Camry is gonna hold its value better then the rest too
That's because the camry is a boring mum's taxi car lol
Nobody's going to paid 50k for a freaking camry lol
michael9678727 lol camry is 35k fully speced with a v6
So it's not worth paying 60k for a luxury sports sedan that has 365hp and can fit the entire family and has a big enough boot to go on holidays? Not to mention the 7year unlimited km warranty.
Stinger no doubt
If you're really not careful, the Stinger can... Bite you. Bite. It's like saying that you were bitten by a bee.!
The new commodore isn’t too bad as car in general but I just feel it shouldn’t have that name anymore. It needs to be called something else, the name should have gone with the end of Australian production.
Lj Jones Agree with you m8. The zb is a decent car but doesn’t deserve the Commodore name
Millen Rogers holdens were not always commodores though , the commodore badge was born in around 1978 before that they were kingswoods , premiers etc ...so commodore when you think about it really was not that iconic
Lower drivers door trim alignment at 8:58. Just impeccable.
Justin Allen this is why camry>all

@@user-jq1kq9hy1t Try drifting the ZB then!

Oh I've driven the Stinger a few times and never found it tail happy, oh and the Commodore wasn't built in Melbourne it was built in Adelaide.
Finally, a great honest review without the B.S and bias personal preferences!!! Thanks Stephen!
Australia police choose Stinger and Camry fleet
but New Zealand only choose Holden.
That 2018 Commodore looks really nice!
Remember when commodores were compared to mustangs, srt chryslers, xr8's, and now they're compared to camry's and kia's 🤣🤣
Commodore were also compared with V6 Camry and V6 Mitsubishi and V6 Nissan from the 1980s to 00s
Does anyone else think the new commodore looks like a glorified Holden Malibu?
Did anyone notice that he said Holden's were buit in Melbourne, when really they were buit in Adelaide 🤔
for the stinger, i can get the camry and a ducati
Give me a thumbs up if ur with me on the Stinger..
Its an honest review, however, I think you guys were a bit lax on the Kia Stingers interior and a bit harsh on the Commodores interior. Great review but the previous Holden Commodore was built in Elizabeth plant in Adelaide not Melbourne...
They always talk about sportiness. Most people also want comfort, and quietness, or if the engine sound is a good one. Like how people buy the Gt86/brz and then they're for sale soon after because they got bored of the sportiness due to more noise and bumps that come with non luxury sporty vehicles...
These cars specifications are focused towards sportiness, we will be comparing more mid-level comfort orianted family cars soon, stay tuned.
I would go for Camry. Can't beat quality-price ratio.
Alexei G. 😂😂😂😂😂... worse of the bunch...lol
maurice benton I don't have 50k + to spend on the car 😃.
Alexei G. Mazda 6 turbo
Or a used Lexus is350 with the 2gr engine and rwd
maurice benton It is a nice car.

I very like my new Holden commodore v6
I would pick the Kia Stinker and then the Camry.
It would be nice if the Camry had cooled seats that do your lower back! And no heated seat option.
Kia stinger
I like the design of the Vauxhall... I mean Opel Insignia... I mean Buick Regal... I mean Holden Commodore. Talk about milking the cow for all it’s worth 🤔
Why didn't GM just bring us the Chevy Impala to replace the Commodore? The interior is practically the same as the VF.
we dont have to buy holdens anymore
Daniel Rozeck no one ever had to buy a Holden.
The only ZBs I see are the ones sitting in the stealership's yard
Did I hear someone say boycott??
You mean NOW we don't!
The Commodore wasn't made in Melbourne - that was the Falcon
Thats the car that replaced the holden ss a v6 AWD u got to be jokin, the aussie v8s are no more its sad to see what they have done to a aussie brand
You might as well put an Opel badge and stop embarrassing Holden
Definitely the stinger,
Why would I buy a Vauxhall Insignia or a Skoda!!
Bikerman 690 there is an AWD Stinger in Europe.
Michael H yep thats correct!👍 sorry, my mistake.
Good thing we don't live in Europe then. AWD is not a winter requirement for typical Australian weather.
American here. Are you guys not getting the LED headlamps for the Stinger GT? Up here when on orders the turbo V6 LEDs are an option.
I'd say they would come as standard. When i bought my Kia, the only option you could get was floor mats. Everything else just came as standard.
toyota, kia, holden last , in order of preference
KIA. who buys Korean crap! Toyota has my vote :+1:
When was a Commodore ever built in Melbourne ?
You highlight the flat-bottomed steering wheel as if it's a plus?
Stinger's nice, but 10-K more. Spend 10K on turboing a crummydore and it'd be a different story ;)
Will the turbo fit? Has anyone done this ?
It comes to pricing, will you pay that much for a Kia?
The Kia is the only one that looks like a genuine machine. And back wheel drive, what can I say.
If only the kia was offered with a manual gearbox wow that would be awesome.... Skoda Superb with a REVO or GIAC stage 1 tune would be my pick
Not good enough effort Holden. You have let Australia down with this half baked effort. I'll give the brand approx 4-5 years before you fold in Australia. What you are selling now is not upto the competition at all. Shame.
Ha 2 years
Even the mitsubishi 380 lasted 3 years in production ; longer than zb Commodore
I don't want Opel Insignia to stop me from speeding.
56K... I'll stick to my 2003 BMW 530 M sport and all it's little foibles. Fantastic drivers car!
Superb is more expensive than the Stinger?? Not in the UK, the Stinger is way more
Great comparison review. Thanks.
Happy you enjoyed it Paul.
what is going on with the paint under the tail light on the commodore at 1:02 ?
Holden commodore were Elizabeth SA not Melbourne.
did he just say the "new" commodore VXR replaces the outgoing hero V8 commodore (SSV)?
it essentially replaces the SV6....and that's a stretch.
It is indeed more an SV6, but when you walk into a Holden dealer with an SS trade, the VXR is what they are going to try and flog to you. Sad as that is.
The Stinger should be faster than any car here. But, if the turbos goes out it's going to cost you after the warranty ended.
Love how people fanboy over the stinger , yet there are none on the road even in the US, I no joke see more Maserati Levante than stinger
People's choice - Camry, Stinger, Commodore, Superb -- Critic's Choice - Stinger, Commodore, Superb, Camry
heres a lesson in loyalty gmh im buying a stinger
It is interesting people saying Kia in the comments but I don't see them on the road in Melbourne. I see a loooot of Toyota's though.
Alexei G. They’re all taxis.
Art Key Well, I am a simple guy. I see what I see :-). Toyota has most car sales in this country than any other manufacturer. Please don't tell me all of them are taxi's :D.
The majority of them are painted yellow. I guess Toyota's are a simple guys choice of car.
so true, love Toyota than any other brand. there is a solid reasoning not just reliability for it to have more sales world wide than any other competitor of its class. at least it won't die whereas KIA will be another fail brand as it has been since '73. Never ever will buy K-cart Hyundai
I have seen more Tesla's on the road in Melbourne than Kia Stingers That's was my point :D.
The Kia is beautiful and I feel like I should like it but I don't. Something about it makes me think "na" maybe its too big? Maybe its the brand? Idk but I can't bring myself to like it
Commodore was made In Adelaide
why dont GM put a V8 in that opel/commodore?
Id get the Camry
airobyou I got one yesterday, also in the Emotional red
Is that Picton Go kart track ?
Sure is, they were nice enough to let us on the track to film :)
Commodore was built in adelaides Elizabeth factory not melbourne
what is that commador? i sell Opel in sweden. And that is an insignia. the biggest engine here is 4cyl 260 hp. 4x4
Australia doesnt get the AWD Stinger?
No, we like going sideways in australia.
Great review!
Why are all car reviewers are so obsessed with hard/soft plastics. I don't think I've ever hopped into a car and start pocking the dash , door cards etc.
@1:03 looks like the paint is coming of the Holden already.... good to see nothing has changed then.
The Camry is the worst they’re boring and repetitive vehicles no matter what you do it’s still a Camry that you’d see with a tissue box in the back window
I visited Australia in 2012 and I remember the new Camry's price was $50k, how come it's $37k now?
ndenkha Australia sucks. In America base price is 22k.
Australian dollars are a different value to US dollars
relieve moreover unless evolve tune press swear wave sharply.
Got my zb turbo for $19k. Awesome to drive and goes harder than my Fg. Why throw in a turbo v6? Of course it will be fastest. Zb were designed by Aussie and tested here in Australia. Stop sulking
Holden commodore now looks like a mazda that had a stroke and someone keeps putting on a backwards cap on its head so it doesnt look so stupid.
Mate... commodore, melbourne? Adelaide! Elizabeth South Australia, from day one to the end
The stinger can bite you? What a missed opportunity for a pun. The stinger can't sting!
Nice roads where you were driving them out at Douglas Park and Picton
They were also at the go cart track at Maldon near the Allied Pinnacle
Stinger isn’t spacious in the 2nd row.
The sound of the new Commodore door closing at 45 seconds. Yikes.
It has been speed up slightly in editing so it may sound a little higher pitched.
Skoda looks like a chinese car
tinhinnh it's more German the the "German" made commodores
Opel is part of PSA now. But all good, since most suppliers of engines for german cars are mostly french.
What???? You’re blind
I think so too
It Looks like a cheap car
zanc Vandam if you get a chance, check one out in person and you will soon change your mind. I think being white in color didn't help it in this video.

Camry shouldn't be in the line-up with turbo cars, just doesn't make any sense?
did you just say the ss was built in melbourne??
There is engine that leaks oil, but which one.
Axe Axee not the camry
Casualy filmed at picton kart track lol
Odd review. 37$ Camry vs superb 57$ ?
So that's where the buick regal gs got its design from 😅😅
The "new commodore" is going to fail so hard. I'm not hating on it, but it's just way too expensive for what it is.
