I love this old Russian Vessel, my favourite out of the five (under the Feronia) It vibrates and rattles like crazy giving an excellent 3 hour sleep. It cruises at 23 Knots, the fastest on the cook Strait. It even overtakes other ferries. It’s however narrow, very tight to turn a quad semi trailer around inside her vehicle bay, but not impossible, although I did hit the side of the ship with the back of the trailer ( I had to tell the boss). Thanks for posting
That's the 3rd roughest sea in the world apparently. Pretty ship though
Wow! Go you good thing! she's a bit bigger than when I went on her in 2008........
Interislander are getting 2 new ships purpose built for cook straight. Of the current fleet 1 ship is nearly 30 years old (kaitaki) and the other 2 are 23 years old (aratere and karahi) the 2 new ships should be able to handle cook straight better than the current fleet.
Good Morning, Are you the owner of this video?
Yes I filmed this myself.
Reminds me of the Wahine
Only because you see Barrett's Reef
Huh, How? This one is floating, and it's 55 years later.
Eek! Or more to the point: bleurgh!
.
I refuse to set foot on this bathtub. it is the most poorly made and dangerous ship ever. A rogue wave hit it once and it was 1 degree off capscising. every vehicle on the boat was totalled
look at the swells it endures. clearly it is actually very well made, perhaps it was just the captains poor decision to sail that day
YAWN.
@@c.d50fitness85 no. It's a northern hemisphere bow and southern hemisphere stern which by good luck rather than management has not capsized. The thing was so poorly made it kept breaking down when first delivered and there was a full team of boatbuilders employed on it to find the problems. It is such a lively ship the sleepers which are holding the train tracks in place are worn out in 6 months where the other ferries last for years.
