The main issue with a lot of these “bad” or “useless” powers is that there are really clear intents (lol) behind why Brandon wrote them. A-Pewter is pretty explicitly made for combat, A-Copper is pretty explicitly made for heists, and A-Cadmium is pretty explicitly made for space travel. Like yeah cadmium isn’t useful except in that one instance that Marasi found but when you’re on a ship taking years to get to the next star system? It’s basically doing the same thing as cryogenically freezing yourself. And if you can create a magi-tech combination of it and duralumin, now you can near instantly travel the Cosmere
Pewter dragging doesn’t play that big a role in Sprinter. The act of pewter dragging doesn’t involve somehow increasing your physical abilities even further than usually, it just means using a lot of pewter in conjunction with superhuman physical exertion over a long period of time. For Sprinter, the long duration isn’t necessay. I do think though that Crasher deserves S-tier. Changing your mass synergises with pushing on metal just that fantastically well. Not only does it give your pushes that much more power, but it also brings you even closer to true flight than normal steelpushing already does.
When it comes to the Sprinter Twinborn an unintended side effect is the increasing of the Upper Limit Steelrunners face since F-Steel doesn’t have any secondary effects which help with Wind Resistance and the like. Having A-Pewter as well means that your body is naturally more durable so it would increase the amount of wind resistance you could handle before having to stop. It earns its Busted Tier placement
I don’t think that they could level a skyscraper, tapping iron does not increase your allomantic power, you could become heavier than a skyscraper but that does not mean you could push it over, the force of your steelpush just is not enough. I do believe that all the benefits that is has makes is busted though
@@Bzhydack well, a normal skimmer could do that by standing on top of a skyscraper, you can’t even hover over the falling building considering that you could not push hard enough to support your weight
The steel bubble that Wax makes is due to him being a steel savant. He fights another steel savant in Bands of Mourning and they are able to do the same thing.
@@arkana9684 The big guy he fought on the train specifically wasn't a feruchemist, but did have a steel bubble. The resonance might make it stronger, but it is possible to do without it.
I actually thought of playing a Metalbreaker twinborn when the Mistborn RPG comes out. I thought about him being a guy who actually works out a lot, but because most of the time he's storing strength he would seem like a really skinny guy. He would also pretent to be an alluminum or duralumin gnat, so allomancers don't know he's actually a chromium misting
Storing breath is stronger than I think you give it credit for, but exactly what you can use it for depends on how it works, which we haven't seen yet. If it is literally storing breath, as in it can literally put air into your lungs (which is the least likely option), then you can use it to do something like shout continuously without needing to draw in any more air, and tapping or filling it rapidly could be used to mess with the atmospheric pressure around you which would be great in combat. If it stores straight oxygen or something instead, fiddling with the concentrations of stuff in your blood, then you could tap it rapidly increase the amount of oxygen in your exhalations; you can start fires or even burn through things and you'll be more effective at administering CPR. If it instead is just a general vigor thing, tapping to reduce your *need for* breath rather than increasing breath itself, then it's messing with your metabolism a little. That means it probably has a slight healing component. IRL, being short of breath can make it harder to heal, and having high blood oxygen can make it easier, killing headaches and helping you get over lung infections. You can probably also use it to speed up or sow down how hungry you get, since that's what your body is *using* your breath for; burning sugars and whatnot. In all three cases it's useful for avoiding smoke or gas inhalation, running long distances or performing intense exercises without getting winded, putting yourself to sleep and waking yourself up (it should affect your heart rate), and hiding in fully enclosed areas for long periods of time. It's a pretty well rounded ability in all cases, and offers a lot of utility for spying, combat, general fitness, and quality of life.
I think schemer is clearly Busted. Storing zinc can be good if you want to watch dumb comedies (as you said in few videos), and there are no more drawbacks And using your powers in every single interaction with other people will he great, we know how effective A-brass is and zinc will make it even more powerful: Want to became rich - go play poker - emotional manipulation + quick thinking is amazing. Want to win every single argument - no problem. And the most powerful use: Become an evil dictator - we know from history that some people became leaders just because of their speeches, now imagine controlling the crowd and having quick thinking to answer any question in a moment. Yes in combat you wont be great, but you wont be terrible, make your opponent fear you and tap zinc for exploits in surrounding area
Burnouts might be pretty useful on the sunny side if Taldain, right? Storing heat in a speed bubble would allow you to potentially outlast at least non-invested attackers
Sprinter gets even more busted when you read through certain words of Brandon’s about Feruchemical Steel. He has said that when you tap speed, your whole body gets sped up, that includes any metal you are burning. So just tapping speed by a bunch and burning a whole lot of pewter, a Sprinter can not only go insanely fast, but due to the duralumin like effects, they also become stronger, tougher, heal faster, better reflexes and more. I truly believe that a Sprinter is the most busted non-Compounding Twinborn combo.
I wonder if being a sprinter would also make it easier to become a pewter savant, since you'd be able to flare your pewter while storing to reduce the risk of death that most thugs face from overextending themselves.
Crasher definitely deserves S tier, the F-iron enchantes A-steel in every way You can push things harder and faster without being knocked backwards, and push heavier things. You can win pretty much any fight with another coinshot because if they try and push your coin away they will get blasted backwards by your much greater mass. You can also fly faster and better, you can decrease your weight to fly faster and go higher with your pushes. You can change your weight mid air to change your trajectory and gain better control of your flight. You can also fly without any risk, other coinshots have a serious risk of falling and getting injured, but a crasher the worst that can happen is they store their weight and let air resistance slow them down to land safely
Even today I don't understand the iron bubble. The concept fascinates me but the explanation is quite diffuse. It can be a resonance.Or it could be a mix of being a savant of both metals. or a mix of both. Believe it’s settled that it’s a resonance as Sanderson wants Savantism to come with severe consequences.
I don't think Savantism necessarily HAS to come with severe consequences. Savantism with internal metals can have consequences on one's body because the power physically enhances their body itself in certain ways, causing the body to become overly reliant on those powers (Gold Savantism), and/or the effects of the power become overwhelming for their body (Tin Savantism). Steel however, is an external metal, not an internal one, and thus the effects of Savantism aren't as detrimental to the user because the power isn't altering their body, but things outside of the body. At least, that's my theory. Like, what drawback would Steel Savantism even have on Wax? What effect does Steel normally have on one's body that would be detrimental if cranked to 11? I'd presume nothing to the degree of Pewter, Gold, or Tin.
Just a thought, but if an aluminum allomancer misting was burning their usless reserve and some other werido tried to leach them would the leacher fail to wipe them of their usless metal? Or would it work as normal? 🤔 by the shards! I love the complexity of the cosmere
Hmmm, good question. I think it would probabaly wipe the aluminum reserve. But then again, aluminum in the cosmere is usually resistant to investiture, so maybe not?
@ExploringTheCosmere first of all hiii! Thanks for your reply 😊. Also, right!? I know it wouldn't have literally any practical use besides maybe confusing seekers. They use bronze to "hear" allomancy pulses so theoretically an aluminum nat could draw the attention of a seeker like a decoy while the real targets hide in a copper cloud or something 😊 Makes them only good for bait, but hey it's something lol
One thing im not to clear on is that some of the Allomantic metals are highly toxic(Cadmium in particular comes to mind), is this ever addressed in any of Mistborn?
In Era 1 Kelsier tells Vin to burn off metals before going to bed to avoid metal poisoning (as well as in this annotation: wob.coppermind.net/events/142/#e2598) But then, in a WoB a few years ago, Brandon said that Allomancers are immune to metal poisoning: wob.coppermind.net/events/456/#e14804 So I think Brandon originally wanted metal poisoning to be a concern but then changed his mind.

I am sorry but if Crush isn't busted I don't know what is, they can level a SKYSCRPAPER by pushing it.
Imagine a Crasher with an Allomantic iron spike. They could compound weight to be able to do that all the time (not to mention get around even easier)
I don’t think that they could level a skyscraper, tapping iron does not increase your allomantic power, you could become heavier than a skyscraper but that does not mean you could push it over, the force of your steelpush just is not enough.

But imagine you Push himself ABOVE Skyscraper and with all the weight you Pushed down. Definitly you can level it.

There is a wob that says Wax isn’t a savant, because Brandon wanted to make sure steel savantism had the relevant drawbacks. Wax is just that good

Excellent point
Well given that we know that it can highly oxygenate their blood 2 seems the most likely but it could be some combination.
Crasher not Busted is a sin. Wax is a menace in Mistborn Era 2 because of this combination.
