some VERY recommended tips! Do not use eco earth for your geckos, it can impact them if digested, also it is too humid and if it is dried out it can still hurt your geckos, also cohabitating has no benefits other than for your entertainment. and lastly, you need to put a calcium dish, get more hides because 2 is not enough (plus your humid hide is on the warm side and not in the middle which it should be) at least 3 for the humid, cool, and warm and then you also need a basking spot (yes i understand this was 3 years ago but still)

Fishy’srule 101 it’s not completely wrong to have two leopard geckos in a cage. In his case with a female and male it definitely is not a good idea but when you have two females it’s acceptable. Rebecca doesn’t completely go against having two geckos in one cage she just probably wouldn’t recommend it.

@@floatzy1959 first off "two" is a number. What you're looking for is "too", which means "also". Secondly, not sharing every little thing with the world isn't lying. Third of all, you've got no idea what happened to the fish at all. They might have died, they might not have. People lose fish all the time. It happens to the best of us. One tiny mistake can kill your whole tank. Get over it. If you're so much better, make your own videos. Then maybe you'll understand what it's like to have people, whom you do not know, share their unwanted opinions as if they're facts.

    • @her-myoh-nee1324

@Akina Studios "alot" isn't a word. It's "a lot". I don't agree with how he's setting this up, but you'll be hard pressed to find only one right way to keep reptiles healthy. That's why there's so many different videos and care guides for them. Yes, there's also a lot of misinformation, but that falls on the owner to do proper research and not go by one video, article, website, you name it.
This kid actually listens to his followers, so tell him what you think is wrong and why, without being a dick, and maybe, just maybe, you'll help make proper changes.

They shouldn’t be on loose substrate, and since there are two of them (which isn’t great either) there should be plenty more hiding and climbing space + foliage), your heat mat should cover 1/3 of the tank. Your ambient temps need to be around 75-85 degrees and your warm hide needs to be 90! I am not trying to be mean but I care about the wellbeing of your animals!

i don't think the substrate will need to be super damp, it can cause some issues. and i also highly recommend a thermometer with a probe, which actually measures the temperature of the ground instead of the surrounding area! i'm also sorry to be bugging you so much, but a thermostat to regulate the heat mat temperature is very important if you do not have one. and i know you have heard about co-hab many times, and i also cannot agree with housing a male and female unless you are a breeder, because the female might get stressed when breeding season comes, and at some point he'll start to annoy her and make her angry- as it probably happened before since you've owned them for years now

Something like Eco Earth Arid or coconut fibre(dry) with play sand, vinyl it has to be non- adhesive or for a more sterile substrate you can use paper towel.
Do not use Calci sand or pure sand etc. It is a myth however that all loose substrate will cause impaction. Big food or pore husbandry will cause impaction

All loose substrates can cause impaction. Though you can use it in the lay box. I recommend excavator clay if you like the more “natural” look, it’s much safer. If you’re going to use eco earth I recommend going full bio active with live plants and clean up crew but of course your husbandry HAS to be on point for any loose substrates. The tank is fine, I would have gotten a front opening one since geckos have predators that come from above so to avoid stress. You should connect the heating pad to a thermostat. Leos come from an arid environment, you do not need to spray them down, humid hide is enough.

Heat mats are not a good heat source. A halogen flood bulb connected to a dimmer/dimming thermostat is the most natural and beneficial option, Arcadia’s deep heat projector is the second best option. They produce infrared A and B like the sun, heat that penetrates deep into the skin tissue and heats them far more effectively than heat mats. Whereas heat mats only produce IRC, which only heats the surface of their skin.

  • @jordonalsop9842

you should really leave the eco-earth out to dry or alternatively heat it in the oven to dry it out as leos don't like too high humidity, this will also kill any bacteria in it to make it safer. Just leaving this here at the glass tank that is being used has a lot less ventilation than a vivarium and therefore will build up humidity quite fast.

man you get so much hate and all but please don't hide your sadness if you have . you do not abuse them but just do not research enough and the pets dies by accident . you're just a pet keeper that just wants more and more but needs to know more when you do this or that too. keep up with videos like this 👌

Me watching this video after he said he’s had these geckos for 7 years and did ~1 hour of research: 😶😯😮😧😲😵🤭🤭🤔 they don’t need humidity!!! Only a moist hide!!😬

Nick I also think that heating pad might be too small for that size of a tank

For future gecko owners for the eco substrate brick hot water dissolves it faster.

You are supposed to put the eco earth in the oven before putting it in because they live in dry climates in the wild. Also avoid spraying down the tank as it can cause respiratory problems and they get the humidity they need from the moist hose and the water dish

I'd put more plants in it! Other than that it's great and I believe in giving animals more than the minimum requirement of space. This is amazing! What brand is your tank by the way?

Your leopard geckos are really cool, but their tank needs work. More plants and maybe stuff to climb on, i don't know- things to keep them busy?

So with your tank you should get on that looks like yours but needs to open from the front. Because they get stressed when you reach your hand in from the top. I’m a kid so I can’t spend tons of money on cages but I did research for a months before I got mine and I got mine last June.

''they like moisture'' im dead haha but no they should not be housed on eco earth that helps keep humidity up these are a desert animal not tropical animals.

    • @newbscrub4269
      @newbscrub4269 4 роки тому

I use eco Earth and if you have a good balance humidity shouldn't be a problem. If it has a little bit of moisture in it then it will stay around 30% and it won't be too dusty.

I just watched your older update for you leopard geckos tank and I'm so glad I found this video this is a huge improv, net but they don't like high humidity levels they might get respatory infections from that I suggest keeping one hide misted down they should have three hides one cold one hot and one humid keep the humid hide sprayed down but not the entire cage
