I'm also getting that weird frequency drop and I had no idea what was causing it. Til I saw this. Thankfully I don't get the screentear but I'd love to figure out a fix eventually.
I've got one of the newer revisions and have had pretty good luck with consistent picture output with the HDMI at least but will defo keep this video in my back pocket!
@@pantsuteam yes the mcbazel ODV II. This was before the retrotink 4k was back in stock. All in all I wish I had waited since ODV II + ODV-GBS-C + Morph 4K is not a great signal chain for N64. I put a retrogem in my n64 and Dreamcast so these will just sit in my tool box for troubleshooting.
I've also found that I've had FAR better luck running my GBS-C into a monitor instead of a TV, probably because monitors are much more flexible with regards to what frequencies they accept etc.
I can't vouch for the X5 personally, but I would say the GBS-C is best avoided unless you need it's deinterlacing capabilities and know your setup can handle it.
@@sync-on-luma thanks. So it does have clock gen mod. To me original Xbox seems to really have issues with its signals. When playing at 480p on Xbox 1.6, it flickers the screen every few minutes and with 720p, it loses sync rarely but sometimes. Have you tried og Xbox?
Really really appreciate you covering this scaler! I bought one a few years ago and was able to clear up some of my issues based on your first video
Glad to hear it.
Thanks for the video! I was going mad trying to figure out why my image was constantly dropping
Glad it helped.

I also went down a rabbit hole with this and the ODV-II. I feel you pain.
You mean the composite to component converter?

I have the bcbezel scailer with a Marantz av7703 and a pal ps2 on component. No problems with the Setup
gbscc-aio always intrigued me, seems like a dud tho
So get the 5x instead?

Hi, does this gbs-c have clock gen mod?
Yes, that's what cased the problem shown in the video.

@@Fnatic2010 Yes, I literally show it being used with an Xbox in this video.
